waypoint changing by itself!
-
I noticed this strange anomaly just by landing in a different airfield than planned. The waypoint changed by itself. The airfield in red frame is the random one I chose to land in but the yellow frame shows clearly that after landing the waypoint has changed itself to the field I landed in. The automatic change happened only when the nose gear hit the runway. Looks to me like it’s an old bug, can it be fixed?

@Alfred do you have a repro case we could test?
-
Happened to me too but without proper documentation and due to the fact that I was not on KTO I didn’t report it. In previous versions was the alternate landing airport steerpoint that changed wenn asking awacs for alternate.
This time was the last regular steerpoint exactly how described.
-
I’ve seen this happen, in the training missions. Eg. TR#3 landing … instead of landing at Kunsan, climb and fly northward to Seosan.
Dial up their approach freq on UHF and request landing … I think that’s the moment at which the steerpoint moves.
(Haven’t tried this in 4.36… just remembering similar quirk from 4.35)
Edit: yep still true in 4.36
-
Where you in air to ground mode. Did you move your SPI?
-
Mm, if those were both training missions, that could be just the script… just an idea … but let’s see evidence first… it may be something bigger.
I mean why… I’ve seen something but I couldn’t repro, will report/confirm this if any.
When I was on BARCAP , pretty dull, I’ve left the plane on stp-auto-pilot , so circle between 3 and 4. , and turned on auto cycle stp., when on 4 i rolled back to 3 and so on.
I went for something in DEST page looking at completely different stp , then stp system seemed gone haywire … , presumably when encountered stp 3 and tried to auto change to 4… in DEST page it rotated whole cycle of waypoints , I’ve seen it with my own eyes, wtf, … from 3 right through 99 and from 1 again to 4,… not sure about numbers, but cycle happened, complete circle.
Nothing was broken , nor ctd, glitch … didn’t pay attention to that, … stp system works ok , targeting … offset. no problems, so i left it alone.
Now I see this thread… so…
I’ll try repro that again … so stp-autopilot , auto cycle stp , DEST page. -
Version
4.36.0 (x64)Build
26181Detailed Description
When landing at a place different from the original planned airbase, landing steerpoint (the last one of your flight plan) jumps autonomously to this new location.
As you can see on the video below, flight plan starts and ends at Suwon. Anyway if I land at different airbases youcan see that steerpoint 5 jumps from its original position to the position where I land. It seems there is a specific point along the runway that triggers this change.
First I touch and go on Seoul (no ATC interaction): steerpoint goes at Seoul location and reverts back once i’m back in the air.
Then I full stop at Kimpo. Steerpoint goes from Suwon to Kimpo and remain on Kimpo.
Exiting TE, UI map shows original flight plan.Pictures
Seoul landing at 06:30, Kimpo landing at 12:30.

n.a.Reproducibility Procedure
- Put down a simple TE. In my case click on the map, choose Suwon as airbase for a new F-16 squadron. DCA mission, single ship, start at takeoff.
- Fly out of home base and land at any airbase not comprised on your flight plan.
Expected Behavior
Flight plan should stay as it is unless you manually edit steerpoint coordinates. -
Ok, Confirmed that strange behavior. You should see this… maybe related to OP case. … , but , is yours to say so.
I mean, if need to open tracker about this.Repro is simple, as said:
- put auto pilot to stp mode
- select auto-cycle stp’s
- be in DEST page when encountered first stp in route, any stp selected
Desc.
What you’ll see is not just one, as I’ve said earlier , then multiple “cycling/rotations” of steerpoints , finishing on some completely random? steerpoint , but not the one which was displayed beforeEffects:
Unknown, None exhibited, no crash , no ctd … no noticed effect on “gameplay” - Actual system stp NOT changed … so no offset(haven’t check xlog, but I don’t think it matters)

Now I noticed the same issue not only when I land in a different airfield but also when I communicate with the tower of the original airfield. If I land without any communication then nothing will happen to the way point. I remember this problem with airfields in Balkans some years ago. Looks like something that needs fixing.
