@Gary said in OFM-Balkans 1.8.1 fro BMS 4.37u2:
Hi all,
I’m returning to BMS having been over on the dark side for a little while in the cockpit simulator.
I am trying to get my head around all the theatres that are available and some understanding of the differences between the OFM ones and other non OFM ones.
I “think” the various versions simulate differing eras and the available airframes and weapons of those eras.
Is that basically correct and can OFM theatres co-exist with non OFM theatres on the same installation of 4.37 -u2?
Thanks for any help
Regards,
Gary
Hi, Gary, and welcome back from the Darkside . The Other Fighters Mafia was formed to celebrate what we call the Other Jets (ie: other then the Viper) in BMS. The OFM Theaters use some differences in the database in order to include our versions/additions of those . We also include things like the AIM-120D, various a/g ordinance, etc. Yes, all run in BMS 4.37U2. They are standalone installs so they won’t mess with the base KTO (or vice versa). https://discord.com/channels/797936162638659594/1021169991367806976 is our release channel on Discord.
To avoid confusion, we always include OFM in the Theater’s name. In some cases, we built on the great work by the BMS Devs and the Balkans Team, yielding OFMKTO and OFM-Balkans . Some, like Nevada, etc., are Theaters created largely by Chuckles that we refine and keep current with our ever-evolving database. The latest version is 1.8.1, but all those listed in OFM-release still work in U2. All our theaters use the same database, so the difference between, say, OFM Nevada 1.81 and OFM-Balkans 1.81 is the geography and campaigns.
Speaking of the campaigns, we try to mix things up for your enjoyment. Generally, the first 3 will be more “old school”, and the last 3 more modern. -
Thank you! - got it.

Hi, Jumpstart. Sorry for the delay in reply, I just saw this. Yes, the Installer does trip some anti-V’s. It’s just the nature of the Installer. However, we test each one by installing it just like you do, They’re all good.

Hello, im also trying to grasp what OFM is. I’m kinda new to BMS hoped on since VR implementation. But does OFM include flyable aircraft other than the F16? If so do they work in VR?

First, thanks to Icer for the comment and the link, and thanks to Max Waldorf for setting up the Journal thread in it’s new home.
Hi, Rakamora. Welcome! The story of the OFM began when 4.35 came out. The BMS Devs gave us the Sim we love, and all these jets, but there are only so many hours in the day. So, when 4.35 came out the non-Viper jets could not be ramp started due to a change in the JFS call back. So, two of us got together (Thanks, FoxBMS!) and we fixed that.
It just grew from there. We realized that there is a community within the BMS Community that likes the Other Jets. So, over time, we worked , and continue to work, on the Hornet/Super Hornet family, the F-35,Tornado, Eurofighter and many others, to varying degrees. We also worked with the AIM-120D and various ground weapons .
It’s appropriate that we have this discussion here , as we also enjoy giving you the opportunity to enjoy “our” stuff in active Theaters , although you can fly the Viper in them as well. Some, like OFMKTO, our new MidEast128, and this OFM-B are homages to the BMS Devs , the Middle Eastern Theater developers, and the Balkans team. We also have a dedication to keeping old Theaters alive. From the that you get Nevada, etc., etc. As they are a separate database, we always let you know which is which. They will have OFM somewhere in their name.
Our goal is to let anyone with a working knowledge of Mission Commander the ability to put their jet of choice into the various campaigns. We also do the same with the Tactical Engagements and the Training missions. We converted the Trainers to a format where you can change them to include your jet(s).
So, are are invited to explore “Mafia World”. Our Discord link is https://discord.gg/WDFhckSnzv and the link to the Mafia Files(including releases) is https://www.mediafire.com/folder/fr34rj0apgr4j/BMS+Mafia+Files
