Keyfile and pokeys
-
Hi all, im building my home cockpit and im using pokeys, but a have am issue, i can’t anke to find some keystrocke like test panel overheat button relase, flcs relase, oxy test relase ecc, i can see only ‘hold’, but for ml lits i can see hold and relase both. Thanks

what is “ml lits”?
keys are just keys – you can press them, hold them, release them.
I don’t understand the question
-
He probably means Mal Ind Lights.
There is only one release callback: SimMalIndLightsOFF
It exists because IIRC a pitbuilder requested it for his rl panel.
That was before I joined the team in 2012.IMO with the current solutions (DX press / release events, or vendors programming software) it is outdated and not needed anymore. Apart from that the press and hold functions we have do exactly what airtex describes. There is simply no need for the release callbacks.
Btw. and off topic:
I would never(!) setup my full scale cockpit with keystrokes. DX is the way to go. -
I have not good understabd 🥲. The problem is that when i put up the switch or the button on my pit, it does the right action, but i can’t able to find the callback to assign to the down position, in this case the relative relase callback. There is a way to crete a relase callback on the keyfile editor ?
You told a out DX, what is it ?
Thanks so much and sorry for my english -

In this context it means, it’s better to use DirectInput button assignments, than keyboard key assignments.
I agree but I don’t know anything about pitbuilding.

@Maverick996 hi mate, I’m doing the exact same thing here using PoKeys57U and one 56U board.
So let’s take a step back a bit.
- what key file are you using? I would recommend using the full one. I started off using the pitbuilder one but due to some concessions in my cockpit, I needed some callbacks that were not included in the pitbuilder key file so I just use the full key file instead.
- are you mapping these as DX (DirectX) inputs or as key presses? DX is easiest but PoKeys only supports 32 inputs and if we strictly use DX only, 32 inputs per board means we’re going to use a lot of boards! I map with DX and key presses to make full use of the 55 inputs.
- if using keypresses, are you using Digital Input or Triggered Input? Each can serve you well depending on what you want.
-
@Atlas hi dear and happy new year. so I have tried to set the press button and switches of test panel like as keypress.
yes, I have tried use both functions digital input and trigger input, but in each of this case every time I relase the button or the switch it doesn’t release on bus and remains ‘hold’.
now, I don’t know if I bad remember, but in my old pit - bms 4.34- I had not this issues using the switches and the button like trigger input.
moreover, I have seen all keyfile, but I can’t able to find the ‘release’ callback in all file. thanks -
@Maverick996 not all callback have a “release” option.
Let’s narrow this down – give me 1) the key file you’re using, 2) a callback you want to map, 3) a picture of how you set up your PoKeys, 4) what physical switch or button you’re mapping to.
-
@Atlas Thank you for the help, but sto the moment im away for some day of holiday . When i will come back home i will post a pictures Thanks again
-
@Maverick996 No problem. Enjoy your holidays!

@Atlas
Hi dear, after two weeks i have come home ahah.
So i have ever the same problem: i have set the button as a digital input on the board, but when i relase it don’t work, it can activste the button, but when i relase it, stays ever on. this is my pokeys setup for the ‘hold button’And This is the panel
-
@Maverick996 – is there any reason you’re not using it as DX input? Each PoKeys 57U board can do 32 DX inputs which may be easier especially for those “hold” functions. That test panel is mapped as DX in my setup and I tend to do this for “hold” functions like the MPO switch later on.
-
@Atlas
So the priblem is it? Thank you vero much, tomorrow i will try, but i have an other question, how can i set a pin ad DX ? Thanks again -
@Atlas Been over 7 years since I did a build myself but IIRC, when you use DX you’re limited to 32. When you use a matrix with keystrokes assigned, you can add way more inputs on one board.
-
@Focaldesign I’m way too beginner for matrix; I’d rather just pay for another board. Plus the other inputs I map to key presses, so still useful. DX is just easier.
@Maverick996 see below.
Button is how it shows up in DX, so Button 1 is DX1. Pin is what pin it is on your PoKeys board, so you can have pin 40 assigned to button 1 for example.

It works Thanks very much for your help

@Maverick996 glad you’ve made it work!
