RELEASE: Blk40/42 HUD Mod

I like the idea as well but in practice its too hard for me, not as intuitive to get around your “own” body as IRL I think. That’s why I say without the pilot, but the best would obviously be to have it as a selectable option if possible. Either way though, there is no reason at all not to have the HUD in!

For info … by using a Track IR … pilot leg is really like IRL. You must move a bite to be able to see all buttons/lights/commands etc …
But I agree … it is not possible for ppl not using TIR.

As there is no way of creating an installer that replaces a model in DB
There is a way to do so using F4Patch (which is what you see when you choose CONFIGURATION from the BMS launch screen. The problem is that the F4P_Texman.dll used to replace models in the db is confused by the new BMS folder structure. Mike Rivers wrote the .dll file. I contacted him and he said he would look into updating the .dll but that whatever code he had lying around from years ago may not still be intact. I may give him a reminder, but I am sure he is busy with other stuff.
Cheers,

Well, this one should add 4 new parent records, 4 new textures, replace 4 files and add LODs to those new parents.
I don’t think F4patch is able to do that.
Anyway, as I said, in the first page there’s a link to a small package with all the files required for a manual install.
But it’s a LE dance. -

I’m not positive about adding new parent records, but it can do all the other stuff (or could before the BMS folder change).
In fact, it can still add/change files and textures.

But it’s a LE dance. No big deal … for me, LE Editor is okay! At least, I can install the leg in any cases.

Is there an installer compatible with BMS update 2?

Robert,
I was also thinking about to contact Mike regarding his F4P_Texman.dll and the new BMS folder structure,
so I’m glad you already did that.BUT instead of “just” changing the folder path in the code, it might be better (if possible)
to have the path available as an (optionally ?) argument.
… would be very usefull for addon theaters, IMHO.For example:
[PluginInfo] F4P_TexMan.DLL[color]:Path=Data\Add-On Balkans\Terrdata\Objects[/color]:id=E-3_sentry_upgrade:Model(221)=sentry_upgrade\3d\e-3_sentry\e-3_sentry.dat
So if you may give him a reminder you might take my idea into account.
Cheers,

WOuldn’t it be possible to add this as part of the config to choose the 40 HUD or not? (Apologies if someone has already asked I have not read the entire thread.)

“the config” is created by using the F4Patch utility.
Now read the whole post# 208, then you know the answer.
@Robert
I’ve actually PM’ed Mike myself.Cheers,

Anyone have directions they care to post when manually installing the Block 40 HUD? I thought I was pretty good at LE, but apparantly not, cause I cannot get it working.

i have posted a article about F4patch with a link. use that to activate the modded hdr/lod file for different theaters and get the pilot legs/blc40 hud

Just installed and love your mod.
Did notice some minor things though. They’re not game-breaking at all and this is meant as positive feedback, so if you find the time and possibility to “fix” them …
First off, the pilot model (though not sure if it was also yours?):
- Head?
- Text on the buckle is mirrored.
Second, ICP:
- 4-point switch (RTN/UP/DN/SEQ) doesn’t move. Having the visual confirmation could be useful, especially when in a hurry.
[EDIT]Just noticed this doesn’t happen in other cockpits either. Thought it did, but must have confused with FSX addons (blasphemy?)[/edit]
