Ff you could have one thing in the next update it would be…

Boom pit … I’ve seem it on the dev forum several years argo … But no more news since then (on standby or abandoned). Definitively not a priority of any kind.
-
Nothing I read in this thread “is new” … and all feature has been already discussed by one BMS member or another.
How about giving us an excuse to start a new thread!
Well… someone had to say it…!
-
What I mean (and I think that most ppl has understood it) : we are all in the same ship and we roughly dreaming about the same things. Since BMS is not a comertial products, most of the dev are users like anybody else here.

I think the devs have a long list. And I mean a LONG list. Since this sim is an evolution, it will keep evolving. Since some priorities are greater than others, it is good to know that what they are working ATM is probably the most needed or the highest requested additions. I am happy for what we have. But every update comes a few more surprises that astounds me! I just hope that no one simply walks away from all there effort here. It is fantastic work!!! I have little time to fly these days, but when I do, it amazes me how detailed and capable this sim really is. Keep it up guys. I am patient that everything will come in time, and what we have now is extraordinary!
-
Next Update HAS TO HAVE janhas’ Full Repertoire implemented. Dont Even think about releasing one without!!!
All right then, no more thinking about release. What a great idea ! No more petty bugfixing, no more hassle from the community.

I was only being sarcastic, but it’s an interesting concept.
Oh ok! … But I was serious … already seen something like this some time ago.

My wish is for an F-18 HUD that doesn’t require track IR (or in my case mouse panning) gymnastics to be readable. Still loving the bug though

There are three things that I think are really needed and would make this game Falcon 5:
1. Multiplayer should be less work around and more “just works”;
2. Redesign of the Mission Briefing screen so it’s easier to frag and play the game as the air general, it’s pretty frustrating to get a message that says “no slots available” without describing what can be done about it right there in the briefing, things like the setting of target steerpoints vs the TGT WPNS for I think it’s SPICE munitions only should just be clear – there’s no need for it to be ambiguous. In general, just really pay attention to making it user friendly.
3. Clickable 3D cockpits for all the planes I am not even talking hi-fidelity, IMO an F16 pit should only be available if flying the F16.With regard to 3D cockpits, I realize that basically it’s probably going to be laying over the top of F16 avionics for the near future, but the F15E pit is pretty good and sitting in it you know which plane you are in.
In my opinion, those are sort of bedrock things that BMS should pay really close attention rather than focus on pushing for the ultimate F16 realism in terms of pits and systems. I am not against ultimate realism, and I realize it’s volunteer work and you are going to take the help you can get, but the game really is really – I’ll probably catch heck for saying it – shoddy in the areas I mentioned. And that’s a real shame considering this thing really shines in 3D, these other areas need some cleaning up.
I wish I had the skills to help, because I would but this all is over my paygrade. If there was someone that was in charge of making 3D cockpits and set up a class to teach people how to do it, I would certainly sign up for that and take one of the lesser used cockpits. Assuming that I could count on support from leadership when I get stuck I would sign up for that in a heartbeat, but I don’t want to flounder and be left to die. Anyway, I’d like to see a team put together for that, where the guys that know how to do this stuff are teaching on Skype or something so others can get in there and be productive volunteers.

I kind of agree with some of the things you say BUT if i could get my f5 option for the next patch it would be an A/I logic Update because i don’t fly online so that would really improve the sp experience.
Second maybe a DX update as far as the pits and weapons just give it some time i have seen this sim grow leaps and bounds with community input by people who love it and i think / hope that will continue.
While you wait save your money for that next big HOTAS. -
Oh yeah there’s definitely room for improvement in AI but I think all in all it’s pretty damn amazing as is. Even so AI improvements would be most welcome, but to me that is not a glaring issue. The things I mentioned I think really stand out at first glance. Well, I take that back, with my limited multiplayer experience, I’d say online is pretty darn stable except when crossing from 2D to 3D but the process of getting connected – I guess it’s not as informative and intuitive as it could be – and sadly a lot of people tell me that persistent online campaigns are easily broken. Maybe there’s a white paper on the best software and hardware and settings for a persistent online campaign out there that really cuts down on the hassles that I don’t know about. To my knowledge Falcon really is the only flight sim that gives you a dynamic campaign, so that’s a key feature and I think if the persistent online campaigns were easier to manage and keep going then that – with an overall improvement in a modern and intuitive 2D interface that helped you get going in multiplayer – then the game wouldn’t feel like its being held together by bubble gum and bailing wire.

@ shared D cockpit!!! with all functions from front, workable
-
– then the game wouldn’t feel like its being held together by bubble gum and bailing wire.
You know Vandal, perhaps this Sim and forum is not what you’re looking for.
I’m just saying with all due respect and all. You pretty much seem very unhappy with state of things.
I disagree with you that this game feels like its being held together by bubble gum and bailing wire (whatever that means).
In our squadron, our commander, former RL AF pilot with multiple RL plane experience under his belt, from his Bio Page: “6200 hrs in several aircraft. 210hrs of combat time Desert Storm. Aircraft flown T-37, T-38, T-41, B-52, B-1B, F-4D, F-16C Blk 40, Alpha Jet, F-18A, KC-135R, Mig-21” explains that the Sim is very realistic and well put together. Our squadron flies every Thursday and Sunday religiously and we don’t encounter the problems you speak of.
Like I said, I’m just saying. No trying to start anything.

This is pretty Neat!
This would be a nice feature for metalhead’s f22 or other newer fighters.
I am going to look into this some more. -
Yes! It’s awesome and I fly with it every week. When for some reason it skips on me, (yes it still has some minor bugs) I really miss it.

Pikachu:
You couldn’t be more wrong about me. I love BMS and most the folks in the forums. I am completely smitten with both. I am not unhappy at all. That being said, I understand why you might think otherwise, it’s because I do a lot of criticism. But if I didn’t LOVE this thing, I wouldn’t even bother critiquing it. It’s very strange that virtual squadrons have no problem critiquing each other and saying they did this or that wrong and they could do this or that better. You know acting like men that don’t whine whenever you have something critical to say, but at the same time some of those same folks get their props bent when you have some criticism for BMS itself. It’s a bit bizarre.
So to repeat. I love this sim and the forums here otherwise I would not spend almost all my free time thinking about how this great sim could be even better.

Pikachu:
Let me just explain what I mean by bubble gum and haywire. It basically means that it works but it isn’t working as it should and it could break down at anytime.
So, what makes me say that? Well, jumping into an F111F and noticing it’s a F16 pit with no co-pilot seat. The fact that if I look out my right wing there’s no bombs on it, but if I look out the left there they all are stacked on one side of the plane. The SMS page in NAV mode is all wrong. I go exterior and the plane is a beauty, all the stores are where they should be, etc.
So, it works but it isn’t where it should be. That’s why I said 3D pits for a quite a few of the planes need some attention and I don’t think anyone can deny that?
As to the 2D interface I already cited a couple of examples and are you saying there’s no room for improvement there?
As to multiplayer, I just finished a big 28 ship 2 package 8 flight mission and there were multiplayer issues: rubberbanding, bombs not coming off for very experienced pilots that hadn’t pulled any Gs to speak of, and AI taxiing right through some of us and that sort of thing. Now none of these are deal breakers in anyway for me, all I am saying is these are places where things look a bit rag tag and I personally think they should get more focus – until they are sorted – and then go back to working on realism.
Like I said, I am a fan of realism and the only time I questioned it – to the best of my recollection – is the Maverick boresighting procedure which I can’t imagine DOD putting up with that. But I didn’t say it wasn’t real I or that I didn’t want to have to boresight, I just asked if it was realistic because I found it to be particularly tedious.
It’s pretty cool that Viper pilots are giving BMS a thumbs up in the realism department. But I wasn’t trying to say don’t put any effort into realism, I am very happy that BMS has in the past focused on it. I was just saying, at this point in time, please focus on some of this other stuff and get it caught up to at least be close to the work you’ve done for the F16. That’s all.

See here Vandal,
At the beginning of the thread, Jhook, a member since, I don’t know 2011, mentions that “this thread (started in good spirit, and I hope it still being perceived as one) is a loaded question and that he hopes everyone will be respectful and careful with what they post so that the devs no not lock the thread”.
The reason being because even though is a “loaded question” it can generate some good debates about the future of our sim. (I’ve only been a member of this forum since 2015 but I have been playing FALCON 4 since it was released by Micropose in 1998. I also belonged to the old-of-days Frugal’s World forums and followed FALCON 4 through all of its metamorphosing throughout the years).
As you read the thread you start seeing people such as Boxer, Krause, Blu3wolf, Dee-Jay, Focaldesign, Roccio, Red Dog, Darkman, l3crusader, PumpyHead, (and that’s only to the second page to name a few) people who we all respect and admire because of their contribution to keeping this sim alive. So, as you say, “you do a lot of criticism”, when I see the way you argue your point in other threads, some times I cringed because of the way you say these things. Like for instance the comment about being held with Bubble Gum and Hot Wire. That hurt. I don’t think this Sim is being held with bubble gum and hot wire. I think it is a testament to the test of time that it can survive and operate in Windows 10 64 bit!!
Now to the comment “It’s very strange that virtual squadrons have no problem critiquing each other and saying they did this or that wrong and they could do this or that better”
These squadron’s have been around for a long time. Mine I think for 15 years or so for the american wing. We meet weekly and develop virtual relationships similar to those of real friendships. Because of that we take the criticism of our members a lot more easily than if a total stranger were to critique us. So I don’t find that strange, its just pure dynamics between virtual friends (who in many cases get to meet each other in person). You say “You know acting like men that don’t whine whenever you have something critical to say” That right there is where you rub me the wrong way. See if you can figure it out.
So, I can go on and on siting examples but I think I make my point. Your points are valid, you just have to work on your delivery.
Do you know what is the most dangerous thing a person can do?
It is Speak.
Try to understand the BMS culture before you go in an criticize and ask for things we all know may never come true. (God knows I have my own set of desires in regards to BMS) but I just keep enjoy it the way it is, because it is good.In my house my wife has a wall picture that says:
"Before you act, LISTEN.
Before you react, THINK.
Before you spend, EARN.
Before you criticize, WAIT.
Before you pray, FORGIVE.
Before you quit, TRY.It is so full of wisdom.
Now if you want to open a new thread to discuss further in the Free Discussion section of the forum, I will be happy to continue, or not, depending on delivery (remember?)
