Same TCN stations, ILS and TWR freqs?
-
Hey to all, been searching for this matter, but nothing relevant came out.
Need to know if Tacan Stations can share same channel if enough appart and keep working as they should, same for ILS freqs and Tower freqs.
Believe this has been discussed before, but here goes the hole package in one go…
How do they work now (if changed in 4.33)? -
double tacan it’s still problematic. If I remember right the one active will be the first one on the list.
best to avoid it. It’s a very old bug but it workd fine before, like in the SP days when I initially did the larger 128 terrain navigation stuffBut there might be a way around it which worked in 4.32 and may still does in 4.33: been awhile I havne’t tried)
75 is not the same as 075. And I remember it worked but some other ppl were unable to reproduce
So it needs further testing to see if that’s still the casemultiple Ils with same freq is OK

Thanks alot RD.
Nice one that TCN “work around”…will try.
What about tower freqs?.
I know that on a big distance, tower wont answer you. But how far away will they be able to tell you are outside his airspace? -
Look at the KAIP mate, there are a lot of identic tower freqs.
I think I remember it’s 30NmAs for the tacan work around, do check before widely use it.
I specifically used that on EMF and I perfectly remember it worked. But as I said, other ppl reported not being able to make it work.
So there might be something else as well -

A few days ago, I was parked on Kimpo but tuned to 292.300, and when asking active runway, QNH and wind, Kunsan Tower replied crystal clear.
Once you’re airborne and report inbound, however, they will not guide you in until you are within 30NM of the base. (not yet tested with autonomous approach)

So there might be something else as wellI know tower will answer to you within 30NM with instructions and infos, but behound that it will tell you are outside it’s controled airspace. Also know that at big distance (say 100NM) they wont answer anything…
So my question is; at what distance will it start answering you that you’re outside it’s airspace?@Eagle-Eye, I believe that was (maybe) a bug. Remember, Falcon terrain is flat, believe still is (with 4.33).

Semi-hijacking thread.
What about the other way around? Can you have multiple UHF freqs on same airbase? Would be nice to have to mimic different freqs for ground/tower/departure/approach. -

Well, got to assume I was wrong about bigger distances… have just made some testing and tower always answers you, be it on the ground or in the air.
Tests made in Osan, contacting Kadena (290NM distance) and it answered me always. So not sure of what will happen with two towers with same freq… more testing needed -
More testing done, “messing” around with station+ils…
Again in OSN (changing only UHF) for Kimpo (36NM), Seoul (24NM) and Suwon (<20NM). For these three have set Kadena’s UHF at a time, and results were:
It answers you the closest one, nothing else happens, so it’s a go regarding this part of the problem…
The odd thing that have noticed is other airbases instructing me to taxy/position/hold/clear for TO/etc… for their airbase’s RWYs…
Maybe a good issue for the next update… -
Sorry for resurrecting this thread, but any of these bugs corrected by now.
Didn’t have yet the time for testing all of them, althought it seems Tacan bug still persists…
Comms were almost good enough. Closest tower is the one that answers you, but you can hear all towers (with same freq) telling you taxi instructions, etc…
Thank you.
