[REL] dedicated server for Windows with no GPU
-
Sorry for any confusion. I wrote runs well for dedicated server, but not taking account of “no GPU” context.

Hi,
I would like to know if this awesome mod is useful if I want to make a dedicated on a laptop with a good GPU which can go 3D ?
Does it worth it ? and I am in 4.34 of course
thanks a lot

Sure thing, the mod will always help with system load and fps even on a fast system (high fps is what you’re aiming for on a dedicated server anyway, so you usually schedule a flight for the server to sit in far away from the action :))
Cheers, Uwe

Hi
thanks for your answer. Maybe I did something wrong because on the same TE, same settings, with mod : 50fps, without 80.
Is there something special to do except what is in first page ?
Thanks

hi,
great work. It runs perfect (I left it like 14 days in 3d :)), just one thing. When I press Esc + e to exit from 3d to 2d, BMS closes itself. It is not generating any error, there is no crashlog aor anything like this. Are any of you observing similar behavior?
I am using only dlls in this thread, no modded textures.
System is KVM based (proxmox) with 4 VCPU (intel 4790s), 12GB RAM, default emulated GPU by KVM.Thanks

Hi folks,
having recently had to shutdown the old win 7 kvm I’m now experimenting with running the bms dedi unter WINE 4.0, however even with sthaliks dlls and the zero px patch i’m still seeing the regular 3d world when entering my galaxy tranport in Kadena.
I’ve deleted the dx.dsp thingy file, and while I’m getting 80fps with 3d rendering on my Linux gaming box of course things will be different on my hardware box in the datacenter which doesn’t have a 3d card.
Right now I’m unsure how to get WINE to use the DLLs provided by sthalik. I converted the run-bms-server.bat to a bash script like so:
#!/bin/bash
export GALLIUM_HUD=“fps,cpu”
export WINEDEBUG=“-all”
export LP_NUM_THREADS=2
export vblank_mode=0
wine “Falcon BMS.exe” -window -nomovieexit 0
but I guess that’s not enough to activate the DLLs, right?
All the best,
uwe

Well I tried getting a dedicated server running under WINE recently but did not have much success at all.
If you wouldn’t mind posting a guide for me, it would be much appreciated.

I will, right now there’s not much to write though as my “dedi server” is still happily rendering 3d via my 1070ti
All the best,

and the finally i use my old laptop for host.
thx for all -
Good afternoon everyone, we’re trying to make up a Falcon BMS 4.34 on a Windows 10 Pro 64bit machine (i3-2120 @3.30Ghz + 8GB RAM). We placed all the .DLL for using no GPU in bin/x64, installed Virtual Audio Cable and removed the .ini you were talking about previously regarding crashes and audio related issues. Like so, we managed to get inside the Campaign and have it online with other players connected but IVC disabled ('cause we have already TS server running 24/24 on the same istance). Problem: as soon as the server tries to get to the Ramp and 3D World it instantly crash. I’ll try to attach the crash log. We’re out of ideas after trying for hours. Hope that someone with more experience can help solving the problem.

maybe try this alternate DLL. Which is a bit newer. We are running it on an AWS EC2 instance and even get better performance than with the one of this thread

Hi Guys,
it seems that with the change of graphics mode from 4.35, the .dll’s no longer work. Does anyone have an idea how to set up a dedicated server that does not render the 3D image?

you could either go with
https://github.com/BibleClinger/F4DXWrapper/tree/Prelim11
or
https://github.com/UOAF/bmsdedi
but in both cases you would have to build the solution on your own as they are not official released -
This is great news - does anyone have a compiled version they would be willing to provide a link to?

Did you check the GitHub Page?

Yes, did you?
All that’s there is the source code and I can’t get it to compile - clearly I’m missing something if others are able to do so. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Well then just download the release from GitHub. There’s no need to compile anything.

As both the post and the thread says…
