Training mission no.13 AGM-65 ??

You can use the FCR in DBS1 or DBS2 to find the line of vehicles. The Shilkas are the last two on the left, as indicated in the training brief (if you’re on the flight path). Slew the cursors there, then check the TGP.

The laser is irrelevant, put some duct tape over its emitter! What you’re alligning is what the two platforms are looking at, as the Mavs aren’t completely in-sync with the rest of the plane when switched on. You’re doing everything right, except expecting the handoff C to show when alligned. The C indicates a succesfull handoff, not a succesfull boresigthing. After boresighting both stations, cancel all targeting by entering an override mode then cancel it (D or M, then C). Switch SOI back to the TGP (it defauls to WPN when coming out of override) and point-track the object. Now you’ll initiate a handoff to the selected station, and (hopefully) the C will show. Override - Cancel to remove the targeting again. You’ll also notice that the WPN and TGP sensor is looking at the exact same thing when slewing the TGP (the TGP will not follow the WPN sensor, however).
I usually omitt the entire failure-sequence by initiating point-track on the TGP before opening the WPN page and uncaging the missiles. That way it won’t attempt a handoff, as there’s no system ready to accept the handoff yet. Then I simply uncage, slew, zoom, track and BSGT both stations to whatevre my TGP is pointed at. Tadaa, procedure done without any pesky warnings to cancel out.

Hi
Trying to boresight my Mavs I been following the step by step in the bms manual 34-1 on page 166 in tgp lockup target point lock Mavs are warmed up and uncaged switch to weapons page find my target that is in the tgp sensor tms up bore sight shows up click on borsght zoom in on targets to make sure they are the same put the round circle in the square and tms up to make sure they are the same. Missile step and do it over againI get no faults and no handoff showing the handoff is complete C above pylon # So I know its not working I can’t figure out what I am doing wrong
That’s my story!! I am in combat mode when firing missiles Watched you tube videos seems to work for themThanks

BGST is to be selected AFTER you lock up a target on the WPN page. Sequence: TGP Narrow - Point track - WPN/Mav Uncage - POV/zoom - slew to target - TMS Up - Verify lock is the same - BGST. MSL STEP (change station) and repeat from uncage. Missile override and cancel to delete handoffs and verify that the allignment worked. Cs will now appear over stations as the handoffs are completed.

TR 13 stresses minutes of preparation for 10 seconds of action. If you really do it by the book you have to be 100% ready when you leave 500’ TFR to begin to acquire the target. Is your FCR decluttered? Which radar sweep azimuth setting are you on? Is the radar in GM with auto range? Are both Mavericks on the proper polarity and NFOV? Is the TGP at a good polarity and zoom level? Are all system deltas zeroed? Which direction (left/right/near/far) is the west direction? Every setting that can make a difference should be evaluated and set before the pop-up. Every action during the pop up should be one that could not have been pre-done and is so well rehearsed that you can write them down right now not in the cockpit.
This is the training sortie that convinced me to bind a keyboard stroke to the ADV autopilot mode button because I needed the expedience.
Per the flight plan I would come in at 500’ TFR but allow myself 1000’ TFR for the pre-attack segment. Approaching the target location I switch off TFR, drop out of MRM, and stare at my FCR in a slight climb using the ADI for attitude reference. The second I see the line of vehicles I slew west, DMS SOI over to TGP, TMS right for area while slewing to find the sucker. While slewing I’m switching LMFD to WPN format (I set it up so I know it takes one tap). Find the Shilka, TMS forward for point. Now I have the first few seconds of relief as the handoff takes places. I can get a quick glance out the window very briefly. Monitor WPN page, OK complete. MSL step while slewing to the other Shilka and TMS point track on him too. Handoff. As the handoff is occurring I maneuver gently to improve the Maverick LOS positioning for launch. Complete. Cross position, steady, range, fire. Missile step. Cross position, steady, range, fire. MRM, turn to egress.

TR 13 stresses minutes of preparation for 10 seconds of action.
that is exactly the purpose and goal of the TE designer
another thing that must be considered is the dynamic weather. if clouds are covering the targets, then you guys should turn off and try to find a better angle with no clouds rather than going straight for target and trying through clouds.
I agree it’s probably the thougest training mission of all, but it’s also the most rewarding.
if you don’t plan everything, you won’t make it and that’s exactly the intended purpose -
It really is a very satisfying mission. And proof that BMS delivers not just through its dynamic campaign, but in the right hands, the TE editor can produce compelling sandbox scenarios every bit as good as the triggered events in (…that other great sim).

Do you have your “Tree” slider set to default. ??
Hi Shadow,
that’s the culprit!
I set the tree slider to the max.
that’s why there’s so many trees.now after I put the slider back to the default position,
it is much easier to see the ZSUs and kill them.here is the acmi file for those who still have difficuties with killing these ZSUs.

I’m still having problems getting the TGP timed in in enough time to do the procedure. The best result so far is at the EOR at take off time! Once aloft, clouds seem to “get in the way” or I’m over water.
I’m warming up the pod very early in the checklist, so more practice is definitely needed.
BTW, if anyone is having problems getting the Mav’s to time in, don’t forget to enable ground jett. -
Its the Mavs that need to warm up or cool down the TGP is quick.
And why would you need “ground jett” when your in the air?
