Tacview – Understand what happened during your last flight! (alternative ACMI viewer)
-
I am not able to make work this files ( https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?20139-Korea-Aeronautical-Information-Publication-%28AIP%29-For-TACVIEW )
The files that draw the ,lines, waypoints, airports……I am using the version 1.4.0 beta 2 profesional
It is the first time that I try to use that option, but I undestand that is as simple as paste the download files in the folder C:\Users\Revientor\Saved Games\Tacview\Data\StaticObjects
Ideas?

Hi there guys,
I’m testing TacView for the first time but I have a little problem.
Every time I open my ACMI file from a training flight over the Balkan theatre, the flight show up over Korea.
I’m using Balkans V3.0.
This is whats enterd in the “Data-Falcon4Theaters.xml”"
<theater id=“Balkans”><simulators>Falcon 4.BMS</simulators>
<path>F:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Balkans\Terrdata\terrain</path>
<west>11</west>
<east>21</east>
<south>36.625</south>
<north>46.64</north>
<lod>2</lod></theater> "Here is a link to my ACMI file.
http://1drv.ms/1iuvHih
Hopefully somebody can help me out.Best regards

Are you files unpacked and installed in the following kind of folders?
C:\Users\Revientor\Saved Games\Tacview\Data\Static Objects\Korea_VFR
C:\Users\Revientor\Saved Games\Tacview\Data\Static Objects\Korea_RK
…It is possible that I have updated my documentation too early (The support of Saved Games folder may be working fine only with the 1.4 beta 3). If this is the case, please try where Tacview is installed, like the following:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Stra Software\Tacview xxx\Data\Static Objects\Korea_VFR
…This is less handy, but it will work with any version of Tacview. You will see the objects as soon as will have loaded a falcon 4 VHS file as long as the terrain is either set to Falcon or auto.

Hi Jorik,
Could you check the question Q12 ?
http://tacview.strasoftware.com/documentation/falcon/I think this is what you are looking for.
The Balkans Theater is enabled by default in Tacview and you don’t need to make any changes to the XML file to see it in the 3D view. Juste make sure you choose the right theater right when opening the VHS file!

Yes I use the user folders, and tested just right now, on the program folder, It didnt work… now I am downloading beta3 and I will test it later
This only works when I drag the file and drop inside Tacview, but I had to edit all files and remove the commentaries because with them Tacview gives a fault… again I will test with the original files in beta 3

No, I am not able to make it work… any way…
Can you use it? it is only my problem?
-
I think i found a BUG in the last 1.4BETA3: when merging several files to one tape on every intersection between two tapeparts there is a ghostplane which stays there for the rest of the whole tape.
I also had a Tacview crash when i tried to save the merged ACMI tape to my HD.
-
Was that mp or single flight?
-
Squadron MP session with 15/16 clients in Aegean 1.5 theatre. Have to add ALL aircrafts get a ghost plane hovering at the last position of the former tape, even AI flights like Tanker, AWACS etc.
-
well most likely the phantom aircraft ain’t from tacview but from BMS.
In the past with Aegean theater in my squad we had “phantom” airplanes. They where not visual and in many cases not detectable by radar but they where able to see us and shoot us down like flies.
I don’t recall having such issues with IKAROS and EMF which we mostly fly now.
I’m not saying it’s BMS or Aegean theater problem. just stating the facts. We where flying on a moded Aegean version so this could have been our error. We couldn’t recognize and spot the source of the problem and we focused on users lan settings firewall ports etc…
One word of advice is in loby all guys must see all others. If one doesn’t see one or more of the other members then there is a problem…
So every member must crosscheck the total.
I hope in 4.33 this will be displayed and things will be better.
I recall a member said this feature was already done but got forgotten to the released. -
As i merged four ACMI files into Tacview and had on every three cut points of the tape these freezed ghost planes it’s pretty clear there must be a problem with TACVIEW for this case. During the MP sessions we hadn’t one problem, no ghostplanes nor other hickups. Smooth like silk.

This is a known bug when activating invulnerability. Most probably from wrong captive weapons implementation…
-
Please note that the current file-merge feature was developed as a quick draft. It is officially not perfectly stable or reliable.
I’m currently working on a brand new telemetry data engine which is going to fix all these kind of issues (the ones from Tacview at least ) which should be available in its first version in Tacview 1.5.

This has to do with implementation alone or if armed the aircraft with an invulnerable weapon in an mp mission?
And could you share how a wrong implementation could be? Or how to avoid a problematic implementation? You seem to have dealt with this before. -
I do want quite some time to prepare a video showing these, 1vs1 bvr head-on with captive weapons and simultaneous cockpits & tacview views, but limited free time has not allowed it by now. It is high on my to-do list though, so when ready will talk again.
-
Feature request: is it possible to implement radar lock lines from missiles and SAM radars?
-
Good question
Tacview supports that kind of telemetry but BMS does not. So the ball is their court…

Tacview 1.4 and its long awaited online debriefing is available!
After a long period of debugging and tweaking, it is time to release Tacview 1.4 so you can now enjoy the promised online debriefing feature.
Now registered users can connect all together to enjoy a debriefing provided by their instructor. Time, point-of-view, altitude restrictions and other settings will be in sync on all computers. The strategic view and charts will be visible for everyone during the debriefing. Everyone can SHIFT+CLICK an object in the 3D view to highlight a specific action. And don’t forget to press ALT+ENTER to enter fullscreen mode to fully enjoy the debriefing while sipping your favorite drink
Please note that a professional license is required to host a session and at least a home license is required to join a session. Obviously, all these features are available during the trial period.
In the following updates, the host will also be able to give control to any client with a Professional license and clients may be able to temporarily keep control of their own point of view.
Now I can focus on the other long awaited feature: The real-time flight analysis which will be available to most flight simulators and real-life devices like DCS World, FSX and X-Plane just to name a few.
Enjoy!
