Talking about a surprise. Wow. Great job qawa!

For a ‘real’ F-16A pit it would be necessary to make code changes: old style radar information, direct access to weapons in stead of scrolling through MFD pages etc.
I know that :). Either way that Viggen pit won´t match exactly reality also and I am sure it would be fun to fly with. Any way I also agree that even without full realism guys flying opposing forces would also appreciate some russian pits.
As for what I´ve seen so far you can deliver the job and we will have some new pit´s in not so far future. Keep the excellent job.

You’re right. A ‘real’ cockpit isn’t possible: the JA-37Di has functionality the F-16 doesn’t have and can’t be implemented for that reason. But most of the F-16 avionics is usable and the balance is more or less ok. But choices have to be made.
E.g. the RWR of a JA-37 consists only of 4 lights around the central MFD. It provides a visual clue about the direction of a radar emission. The according sounds had to be learned by heart by the pilots, so they could identify e.g. a Mig29 on hearing. The F-16 RWR provides much more visible info. On the other hand, the JA-37Di has a large display at the right hand side with a moving map, on which amongst others real time target info is displayed, provided by the Swedish link system which gives much more information than the NATO Link-16 system. In that respect the JA-37Di performs better. That’s why I think adding the F-16 RWR to the Viggen cockpit is a defendable choice.

I just had an e-mail from the former JA-37 pilot who was willing to testfly the FM: he has bought an old house to rebuild, so doesn’t have the time…… bummer.
The good news is that the current FM which Topolo has made, and which is based on real life data, comes quite close to the known behaviour - within the limitations of an OFM in BMS -.

I just stumbled across a Saab JA 37 Viggen Cutaway Drawing …

Thanks, but that’s not a JA-37, but an AJ-37 (the attack version, not the fighter).
-
Could they have made that naming convention any more confusing?

few progress but ahead
