WIP: JA37 Viggen

Nice shots! keep it up sir…

Could they have made that naming convention any more confusing?
Not if you know what it means: J = jakt = fighter. A = attack. So the AJ version is primary an attack plane with secundary fighter capabilities. JA = the fighter version. The secundary attack function of the JA was short lived: the first JA’s could carry rockets for ground attack, but that was abandoned very soon.

There’s also S for ‘spaning’ or ‘reconnaissance’. SK for ‘skolflyg’ or training. SF for ‘spaning foto’, or ‘photography reconnaissance’ and SH for ‘spaning hav’ or ‘reconnaissance sea’.
This naming scheme is relevant for all Swedish aircraft. Which explains the name of aircraft 39, JAS 39 Gripen, and others such as SK60.

Don’t forget the improved version of AJ 37. Called AJS 37. :uham:

Though the former JA37 pilot can’t test the flight model himself yet, he’s willing to check the results of certain patterns. So we can have a more or less ‘certified’ flight model after all
-
Flight model is validated. Great job Topolo!

Thanks for all the hard work! If you are feeling different today, it’s because of all the love that is radiating from Sweden right now…

I really hope it stops raining……

Btw, I don’t know if I have mentioned it before, but you won’t find RB-types of weapons (71, 74, 99) on the JA-37: because the amount of different weapons in BMS is limited, the choice has been made to simply use the existing AIM-120B etc.
-
because the amount of different weapons in BMS is limited
What do you mean? Can’t we add aditional new weapon models in the DB and populate their data records accordingly?
Where is there a/the limit?

As I have understood, 600 is the max and it’s reached. But I’m no dev, so maybe someone else may comment on it.
-
I am no dev either, but i see 641 weapon records currently in the stock U5 db.
Moreover, i’ve added extra 10plus manually without any problems for a running project, and i continue to add every day.
-
The 600 issue is related to the squadron stores and resupply system. The weapon can be added for sure.

small progress with the right panel
-
IMHO it is pointless to use same weapons with different names if they have similar capabilites.
