How to please.
Also is there a good ramp tutorial around?
Cheers my brothers.

…I really…really wish there was a decent systems model for the Hornet…this hurts my head.

Stevie,
I understand you flew the Hornet trainer so your standard is at the realistic training standard……however, this is what we have now and I just appreciate what the Devs have done thus far.
The devs have said, although the avionics are viper based, the Hornet AFM is actually a decent high fidelity.
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?24829-F-A-18-Hornet-Flight-Model&p=352715&viewfull=1#post352715So, its either Janes F/A-18 Superhornet, BMS 4.33 Hornet, Seven-G, (which has amazing proper avionics) http://seveng-f18.com/ https://www.youtube.com/user/sevengf18/videos,
the FSX VRS Superbug, or you can wait 3 years for the DCS Hornet!!! Maybe. My opinion is that overall, taking the entire combat environment into consideration (even when the DCS Hornet is released as a competitor),
the graphics, and fidelity, MP net code……BMS 4.33 has the best overall modern/realistic Hornet combat experience currently available.
However, I understand and share your frustration that a high fidelity fully modeled Hornet model hasn’t been released just yet. -
Actually, what I got from that full discussion was that the Hornet flight model wasn’t very fully developed and never will be…but I do have VRS, but haven’t spent much time with it because I’m concentrating on building my Viper pit…it does look pretty nice, though. And I’ve been following Seven G, but I guess it will be another 4-6 weeks before I get to actually fly and evaluate it.
The BMS Viper is the gold standard as far as I am concerned…so I’ll stick to that!

VRS Rhino is useless as FSuX is not a combat sim. You just fly endless circles. [email protected] is not a substitute either.
DCSW Bug when or IF it comes will be grand except no DC.
The BMS Hornet and CV ops is pretty good and Mav has hinted more is to come.

Agreed…unless you get the VRS TACPAC, which is another reason I haven’t spent a lot of time fooling with it. I do plan to buy the TACPAC but even so you need to go multi-player to really do anything useful with it as I understand things. That’s why I REALLY wish there was more of a way for third parties to add aircraft and aircraft models to BMS…or even if we could get some folks form aircraft development teams to help out the core developers. The real heart of BMS are it’s AI and Campaign engines - in both my own opinion and those of a number of other professional folks I’ve encountered. I don’t think anyone is ever going to do that better…not for our purposes, anyway. And when it comes to a Viper sim…well…I think BMS will rule for all time!
I’d sure like to see a basket on the KC-135 for Navy refuel…that would be a very welcome add. And more attention to detail for CV ops - which again, would require a whole new way of thinking in addition to augmenting the Hornet systems and flight model…attention to marshal, pattern, launch weight, landing weight, bring back, hook skip, fuel ladder, munitions, deck handling, etc.

I have had TACPAC and the VRS Rhino for years, dont bother. TACPAC and [email protected] still cant turn FSX into a viable tactical combat sim.
-
That’s what I figured…

Tacpack actually hurts your sim more than it does good… it’s useless trash, stay away from it (and your wallet will thank you)
