Only one spawn area for AI planes on airbase?
-
I want to build a TE to attack some static aircraft on an airbase, so I thought maybe I could achieve this by setting the config option set g_nDeagTimer to a high value so they would spawn in well before takeoff time and so I could bomb them. Now the do spawn in but they just spawn in one long line (including on the grass). I was hoping they would spawn on/in the various platforms/shelters of the base.
Am I just out of luck (except for the first four) or is there anything I can do?
A quick search did not give me any useful info. Sorry if a different search string would’ve found it
Thanks

Have a look in \Falcon BMS 4.33\Docs\Airport Approach & Navigation Charts\South Korea\Kunsan and you’ll find Kunsan_spawn_diagram.
I’m not sure if anyone has done anything similar with the other airbases, but this should help you plan such an attack at Kunsan at least.

At least two areas depending on the active runway. There aren’t so many unique airfields but a handful used several times. A quick test in a TE could settle it. Mind the wind direction!

Every airbase spawn notes are written on the airport charts. Not as precise as Kunsan, but the parkings where AI spans according to Runway in use (thus Wind) are given

As far as I know, though I could be very wrong, this “line spawning” happens when too many aircraft are spawned at an airbase.
The basic idea: If there are only 20 available parking spots, and you want 21 aircraft on the airbase simultaneously, BMS doesn’t know where to put them, so they’ll spawn like that.
More advanced: Most (all?) airbases have a limited amount of parking spots for small aircraft (e.g. 16), and a number for large aircraft (e.g. 4). If you have 10 F-16’s (small) but 5 C-17’s (large), there’s 1 large aircraft too many and you’ll get the same bad result. -
Here’s a TE for attacking an airbase with red air spawn.

Thanks for the pointers guys! Turned out that part of the problem (I think) was that I was entering the 3D world for testing with the planes already there. This seemed to cause the line of planes. When I reduced the deagtime and made sure I was spawned before they did, the result was better
Thanks a lot!
