Bloopers?
-
is there a bloopers vid thread or can this be one… i like watching all the vids that peolpe post but almost all of them end up in success…which is great and all but i jut thought that maybe people could post some " not so happy ending" vids to encourage newbs to stay with it…i know i almost gave up from thinking that everyone else could complete a mission without getting shot down, why can’t i…anyway i just thought i would be fun to see some landing fails or sam hits or bad SA instances from the pros…or anybody for that matter. also thinking about a separate “sys fail” thread due to the fact i have random failures on in the config file and was wondering how many others have this feature on and also to get advice on how to handle certain failures. any thoughts???

Well, guess somebody has to start …
To set the scene:
Our squadron was having a so-called Open LAN last March, where we allowed interested people or passers-by to come look at us fly, in an attempt to find new pilots for our team. For the occasion, we prepared a few demo flights and I had trained mine about 8-10 times, but the last time was approximately a week before the LAN. At the time I had to do my demo, there were about 15 people watching over my shoulder, so I had a bit of stress. And then this happened (during one of the final maneuvers no less)…(p.s.: I did it again right after, and ACED it !!
Of course, there’s no footage of that :-x )

Demo has a bunch of stuff (including some ‘blooper’ reels) here: https://www.youtube.com/user/DemoVFW/videos

glad we could get the ball rolling on this… thanks guys. im sure it will help the less confident pilots stick with it and expand the community maybe…keep em’ comin!!!

Dont have it on tape but putting out a cigarette while in a low altitude flight at 500+ is a bad idea.
Just heard an explosion and immediatly knew what it was. -
I am not sure, if that would count as “blooper”, but i suppose it is not conventional “flying” anyways.
How it is done in detail is shown here (11:20 min):

Bad landings are a habit of mine when filming so it seems.

ScubyFlying has a video on youtube that I enjoyed a lot:

ok so since i started this thread i figured i would post a vid. what happened was i dont do video recordings because my fps are already crappy enough but i thought id give it another try and that maybe i had some settings wrong before when trying. anyway while testing with fraps i had the sound muted cause i was just testing video. pushin hard off the runway forgot to raise my gear. now it looks completely gone but you’ll notice that the aircraft acts and sounds like there is at least rear wheels upon landing…so pardon my crappy 15-18 fps but here’s a vid that accidentally shows why you always need to bring your gear up before 300kts. also since i started this thread to encourage newbs to stick with it i think it may be nice to add screenshots of logbooks to show exp lvl so to speak.
here’s my logbook screen:

You should give OBS a try (obsproject.com). It is less consuming than other tools, at least on my rig.

is it freeware?
