Cam/Te Scramble misson control?

Thankie, thanks, I’ve suspected this cause’ there’s switch related in bmscfg , so ‘scramble’ is in the code itself. (and working fine in campaign, tested) …
I was just hoping that it is ‘maybe’ possible with tac. (through all the mess of pak’s or tri’s , but since they don’t effect tac …‘guess’ , nogo for scramble there).
I mean, since when in tac vs ai , since there is already an ai (opponent) … could be that there is ‘some’ possibility.

Scramble/Missions generated by the AI (blue/red) would make TEs definitely more interesting. But since it has been discussed a few times since the time of Frugals, and no dev never made any public comment on it, I suppose it is not going to happen in the near future.

So you have to make your own scramble TEs.

Btw, only way , currently, am I seeing workaround is minicampaign (reworked save of day1 campaign.) , basically cam file save, heavily edited , squadrons, battalions., delta obj, etc., readjusted tri and pak.
…, maybe change default cam loaded from that save to something different , eg save4.cam , if needed. , of course it wouldn’t be seen in ui , but save would, I guess, read defaults from it.
Mission.dat , .aii would be left default, or to preferences , that shouldn’t be a problem , can use modified/different files via calls.You could say , default .cam template , (un)like te_new, but this one just for mini-cam.
How (about) instant.cam would suffice ?
I say , I’m seeing it like this, not have tried yet, but will do…

I have actually done something like that. Saved a cam as a template and then frag one off missions in it not saving the results.
That way i could do a TE but have it close to a campaign with other units in play.

Actually. I’ve did it and it works… woohooo :rofl: Scrabmle missions were generated on both sides , and battelfied… feels alive …
Both ATO’s frags with no problem, ships firing at each other from ~50nm, haven’t seen it but log lines constantly mention it.
I’ve used Falcas , Mission Commander, (some bad experience with tacedit with latest ver.73)What I’ve did, backup take an instant.cam as template, because it is self sufficient, (no need for save0) , and export my units from TE’, fix TEAMS (that wus a biatc**) , because TE’s are creating teams in order 0-Greece-white (non existant) 1 - Nato 2-FRy …,
. but default order in instant cam is 0 -Greece 1 - Slovenia , 2 - NAto … 6- FRY , so that had to match my export from TE (for future… always make NATO(2) FRY(6) , then export/import will be straight) , other teams , can exist but render them INACTIVE later … so… it fits nicely.Renamed my edit to save0 temporarily so MC’s is giving some cool options when editing, objective wise, edited all what I wanted, (repair few broken links ) made it self sufficient -campaign (_testsam.cam) …
that’s it.
… anyways , it works… NO CTD’s yet !!!Now for primary goals and overall control one would have to make TRI files also …
Furthermore, it’s not yet complete, just working, so needs testing… but , I think this leads the way into future of real dynamic mini-campaigns…

Interesting! So you wind up with a new save0.cam and then you start a new campaign from there? I assume the implication for multiplayer is that you’d need to create a new theater, then, right? So that everyone could have the same save0 to reference? Or are you saying that since you used instant.cam, that’s not necessary? If the latter is the case, would this be something where you could share the empty base file that has the team fixes in it, so that other people can start from there?
Anyway, super interesting research. Looking forward to seeing how you make out with it.

Closely., but nope. You’ll find this campaign file under campaign>saved , not linked to any save0/1/2 or instant.cam , in any way. (un)like original campaign save games … they are linked to their parent > save0/1/2
All ‘other’ cam files goes automatically into ‘saved’ category if not named ‘special’ (like instant.cam, savexxx.cam etc.) which Falcon recognize as ‘system’ file.
That’s what I’ve meant by ‘self-sufficent’ , it is no linked to any of original falcon cam files. You need only that (mini).cam file , and that’s it. ,
So, you’re partially right, it is something like save0.cam just not recognized as such. More , it would be like save4.cam , mix of TE and SAVE0 , exists like campaign save but is not really. Hope it is understandableAnd, no you don’t ‘modified’ theatre, it was all done under default Balkans. But is global, so it would work with any. - well of course for theatre for which is made. hehe.
Empty base file is instant.cam , cleaned out of original delta objectives, comes without units so one step less then editing save0 , and then reimport objectives because ‘first owners’ of objectives are not done ‘right’ in it , but this is not crucial …not much.
Crucial part is when making base TE from which units and/or delta objectives are gonna be exported has the same team numbering as the instant cam… makes things easier later when importing.
Editing this ‘instant’ file later requires doing it renamed ‘temporarily’ as save0 …(or1/2), because MC then recognizes some options which are not available in other cases. Then simple save as yourname.cam , get back instant.cam and save0.cam , goto falcon and run… simple, no?
Will post final results , … still it is not advisable many many editing with MC, files becomes dirty at the end, but I’ve contacted dear Falcas so we’ll try to find solution… Afaik, Tacedit was similar… very very, picky tool. Could trash the cam file in a second , but you couldn’t live without it…

Ok, here it is test version , only nato and fry have aircrafts , if you want to try scramble, select sq on Roosvelt , or for fry sq on Tivat airbase.
Will happen , just speed time at x64.And ATO will constantly fill whole spectrum of flights besides one I’ve created , airlift , rescue , tanker… It seems that is working //
Main event starts after 13:00 , F-4’s from Italy on strike to Tivat. , powerplant, airbase, hq. Fly that …Yep, clock starts at 5am and whole campaign lasts maximum 31day , …just kidding, no prios, so end when you like. Lots of ground units are on manual.
Hmmm, try first if it is working, maybe it will crash , didn’t remove some ships I’ve did in database , for shipboard sam testing purposes… what can I say, I love being shot at …lol

-modified has two small files in …/Falcon BMS 4.33 U1/Data/Add-On Balkans/Terrdata/objects/ , db dir , it enables existing russian SAG group with Slava and Moskva CG’s , lots of s300’s (sa-n-6) on those ships…, and file with original mission, cam.
-unmodified has those ships deleted , didn’t delete flights who are to attack them but, … they’ll figure that out they left adriatic… it will work)so here’s new links.
