IVC 2d guard comms
-
IVC 2d to 3d guard comms (F1 to 3d) originate in RF propagation from the slot the 2d player has clicked on, and seem to have much lower range than they used to.
Repro:
1. Start a campaign
2. 1 Player goes 3d in any aircraft
3. 2nd player is in 2d
4. 1 player switches to UHF 13
5. 2 player holds down F1 to transmit to UHF 13
6. 2 player’s “apparent position” will now be based on what slot he last clicked on, e.g. he will be inaudible to player1 from over japan but if clicking on the 2 player slot comms will sound fine to player 1, it attenuates rapidly, and is incomprehensible from speakers at 80+ miles. 70+ miles begins to become very hard to understand. In previous versions a 2d player on guard could be heard from anywhere. Even if this is a “Feature” - the range should be at least 100 miles, right now its much too low and its impossible to play as an AWACS unless you expose yourself to the FLOT.

Also, sorry to OP. (it is a bit related)
COM 1/2 switches GD/PRE are not toggle using the key shortcuts (ALT SHF o/p ) , as are with mouse.
Is that by design …? Anyone know how to make them toggle with keys ?
Thanks

This is a ‘feature’ indeed. Its explained in some detail in the manual that came with 4.33. Realistic for F-16 sized radio antennas without LINK voice. Not at all realistic for AWACS though. There is a setting you can adjust in the ivc.ini file to hear people who have not taken a seat, as though they were at zero range from you, and this setting is intended for use by AWACS. Sadly Im yet to get it to work.
There was some discussion about it over at http://falconc2.org/index.php and also at Falcon Online when 4.33 originally dropped. I understand several people have figured it out and that there was some AWACS activity at Falcon Online in their initial attempts to use 4.33 to run campaigns.

Care to share the setting?

What is the answer to the problem. Who were the guys who figured it out?

Try outsiders = all

It’s all very well documented on 23 pages in the manual, page 251 - 274.
