Station Area Distance Required for Mission Success
-
Hi all,
For BMS, does anyone recall what range you must stay in around your currently selected station steerpoint (CAS/DCA/BARCAP etc) to receive a mission success? Of course, TOT and station time should be completed also, but what is the distance you’re allowed to range from your currently selected station steerpoint, before it moves into mission failure?
In the past, IIRC, it was about 15nm or 20nm.
I’m curious due to different types of victory conditions I’m creating in a TE, and I can’t remember off the top of my head, and brief forum search didn’t produce the answer.
Thanks,

30 miles from nearest steerpoint rings a bell here

In the situation of a BARCAP or CAP, what is the best course of action if you have enemy just outside your station area? Or they come into your area and try to drag you out?

I’ve always thought it was 30 minute station time and you have to hit all the action waypoints at least once.
Lightswitch, I’ve engaged to at least 20-30 miles from the action waypoints, and gotten mission success if I do as above. -
If you want to create a TE with specific, checkable objectives under the form of a station time, then you can set this time in the flight plan (default being 00:30:00). You know, from the debrief screen, if the game (the mission game, if you follow my mind) considered you were on station.
If you are in a campaign and want to frag your flight to a particular location, and don’t want the game to punish you for being 1 mile too far and 1 minute too short, you can set 1 minute required on station (so 00:01:00) and concentrate on your patrol and how to achieve it the way you should to help your side, as soon as you’ve stayed 1 minute in.

KidVicious: for BARCAP, BMS-Manual says 25 Nm (p. 211)

Gotta make sure you show up on time if you do this though, right?

Right. If you don’t, there may be a bigger problem anyway

Thanks again! I totally didn’t find that RTFM. Much appreciated!
