RE: BMS 4.33.1 F/A-18C Hornet Cockpit Issue
[RESOLVED]
1. After further testing, the CCIP is functional, unlike the F-16 where the pipper is usually visible, you have to really be at 450-500 kts plus and close to the ground for it to appear in the Hornet even with the 4.33.1 patch.
Just wasnāt being aggressive enough with the Hornet.2. Steam gauges are usually off, however, have appeared for me at least in the Hornet D model.
Thanks for the assistance Agave_Blue.

BMS 4.33.1 F/A-18C Hornet Cockpit Issue
Hey BMS Team,
I somehow managed to reset my BMS 4.33.1 F/A-18 Hornet cockpit to the 4.33 version.
I have no idea how this occurredā¦I was using Weapon Delivery Planner, made some changes, reverted some settings to default and
now I effectively have the 4.33 pit.1. CCIP no longer works and has reverted to its 4.33 āno view of the pipperā state
2. Steam gauges no longer visible without the use of console lighting like in 4.33 (although sometimes they appear on certain flights)Ive tried changing profiles to default Viper, disabling various files in the USER folder etc. adjusting ews_def.ini and mfd_def.ini files etc.
Its a mystery, it seems like the entire pit has been rolled backā¦ does anyone have any suggestions on how to restore the cockpit?
Im testing and I spawn in the air. Could this be related to the non-ramp start issues?Burner

RE: 4.33u1 Issues (Known or not)
Will 4.33 TEs and campaign be able to import into 4.33.1 without issues??? We have a current Naval Campaign and a ton of training missions and Im curious if they are compatible.

RE: Aerial refueling possible in the Bug?
I tried hitting the basket in a trainer not long ago and was very surprised how well I did at it for a first time (so was my back seater)ā¦even though the frame rates were screwed and had the tanker (a KC-135 with a basket, BTWā¦) jumping all over the sky on me every time I was near to plugged. Just based on that I think hitting the basket is WAY easier than my feeble attempts at the boom in BMS.
Interesting thanks for sharing this, we had a former real life Hornet driver in my old virtual squadron that said it was 10 times easier to refuel in the real hornet because of seat of your pants flying, detecting small changes in altitude and airspeed, and especially vastly superior depth perception between real life and just a monitor. On the Canadian show Slipstream, most of the new F/A-18 pilots hit the basket on their first try.

RE: Aerial refueling possible in the Bug?
Sting, truly excellent demonstration of Air to Air Refueling in the BMS Hornet!!!

RE: Change TACAN station in the hornet
ā¦I reallyā¦really wish there was a decent systems model for the Hornetā¦this hurts my head.
Stevie,
I understand you flew the Hornet trainer so your standard is at the realistic training standardā¦ā¦however, this is what we have now and I just appreciate what the Devs have done thus far.
The devs have said, although the avionics are viper based, the Hornet AFM is actually a decent high fidelity.
https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?24829-F-A-18-Hornet-Flight-Model&p=352715&viewfull=1#post352715So, its either Janes F/A-18 Superhornet, BMS 4.33 Hornet, Seven-G, (which has amazing proper avionics) http://seveng-f18.com/ https://www.youtube.com/user/sevengf18/videos,
the FSX VRS Superbug, or you can wait 3 years for the DCS Hornet!!! Maybe. My opinion is that overall, taking the entire combat environment into consideration (even when the DCS Hornet is released as a competitor),
the graphics, and fidelity, MP net codeā¦ā¦BMS 4.33 has the best overall modern/realistic Hornet combat experience currently available.
However, I understand and share your frustration that a high fidelity fully modeled Hornet model hasnāt been released just yet. -
RE: TomsKorea2015-Reloaded
@usafpga:
Are they MP critical?
I used the Toms HD textures in MP last weekend (with Same Tileset in MP turned off for the Host). My wingman used the default and
we had no issues whatsoever. Of course the host needs to enable different tilesets. -
RE: TomsKorea2015-Reloaded
@Tom:
Wow!
How you did it?
Looks nice.
Cheers
TomHey Tom,
First Iād like to say Ive really enjoyed your HD textures since 4.32. I have tested the 2014 tiles in 4.33 and the new updated 2015 tiles by copying the TEXTURE and TERRAIN folders
into the main BMS 4.33 directory. DO NOT OVERWRITE ORIGINAL FOLDERS!!! Rename original folders āTextureOriginalā and āTerrian Originalā1.) The 2014 tiles work exceptionally well in 4.33, I can achieve much higer frame rate (usually 60 fps with a slight drop with the TGP) than the default terrain (usually 60 fps with a drop to 20-40 with TGP on).
*2.) The 2015 tiles look incredible, especially the deep canyons for rivers and snow capped mountains. The updated 2015 terrain looks as good if not even better than default 4.33 tiles
and the performance is much better, however, there are some āgrid linesā across deep valleys and FPS is not as good/smooth as 2014. +Note: The tress if enabled are scattered all over the place as the terrain doesnāt seem to have tree designated zones.
-
RE: TomsKorea2015-Reloaded
Tom,
Thanks a lot. I am using these in 4.33 with an FPS increase of 20-30. I can even achieve 60 fps at times with the TGP enabled!
I really like the canyons for the riversā¦ā¦although is there a way to eliminate the wire frames on the ground?

RE: Hornet Ramp start Video
If youāre describing what I think you are, there is discussion on it. You can try with Smart Scaling of and/or with Shadows off as those were suggested āwork aroundsā that seemed to work for some.
7-8 hours of diagnosing = frustrating
4 uninstalls and re-installs/20 profiles later = infuriating
Agave_Blue, a knowledgeable BMS dude = priceless. Thanks man, it was smart scaling all along. Too bad because I really like smart scaling which replicates real vision view distances. I disabled cockpit and focus shadows and the issue remained. Any ideas on what specific shadow to disable?

RE: Hornet Ramp start Video
Is anyone else having issues with the 4.33 Hornet N1 RPM indicator.
If I load the default viper profile it loads properly, but as soon as I load my profile, the N1 indicator shows ā00ā the entire time. Is this a known error or is it something to do with my DTE settings?
-
RE: Hornet Ramp start Video
Hereās one newer ā¦. forgive the imperfections. Itās good enough to get a ready to fly Hornet.
A little better resolution too.
Agave,
For the falcon we have the idle cutoff handle which we click to move it to idleā¦ā¦when you mention the āidle detentā in the hornet are you referring to a toggle switch near or on the throttle? My throttles work fine during flight, but during a ramp start they are stuck in the fuel cutoff position. Is there something I am missing?
Burner
EDIT: Disregardā¦
I set my throttle to 50%, the used the Idle Detent keyboard function āALT - Iā, then retard throttle to idle and the
throttles are now responding. Thanks to Smokey at the 72nd VFW.1. -Wake up the throttle prior to doing anything-slide it full forward and back to the idle position (youāll notice the throttle in the 3dpit start moving)
-JFS
-RPM reaches 20-24% and SEC light turns off in the Caution Panel
-Throttle to approximately 50%
-Idle Detent (ALT-I)
-Slide throttle back to Idle2. Alternatively, you can use this if you have an idle detent on a Warthog HOTAS setup.
g_bUseAnalogIdleCutoff This option when enabled suppresses the need for the idle detent callback. The detent is simulated by the course of the throttle axis. The idle point must be declared with a right click on the SET AB button in the SETUP > CONTROLLER page of the UI. Enable this option if you have a strong physical detent at the idle point of your throttle. Available options: 0/1 ā default is 0.

RE: Burner's Harpoon MOD Pilot Legs Tutorials
Sobe, I would love to but each theatre is different requiring different lod files to be manipulated. I am not on expert on using WDP for MP but here is the author Falcas youtube channel
which could help -
RE: Burner's Harpoon MOD Pilot Legs Tutorials
No luck with this either. Followed instructions to the dot. Repaired .NET framework, still no legs. giving up
For which theatre did you try this for?
Are u running LOD editor in Administrator mode? -
RE: Burner's Harpoon MOD Pilot Legs Tutorials
In some earlier threads, someone talked about omitting the step where you select LOD 82ā¦ could this have something to do with this not working for me?
82 only applies to the Korea theatre.

RE: Burner's Harpoon MOD Pilot Legs Tutorials
Red Dog, thanks for creating the original map I didnāt realize that. I thanked Jomla for creating the dds kneeboard picture including freqs for both Korea and Israel.
