Good to know things are still happening.

RE: So Proud
Real life stuff is what happened, lol. Met a beautiful woman, started a new company (integratedarc.com), and have been passionately following both of those dreams! How you been?

So Proud
Well, after being gone something like 1 1/2 to 2 years, I come to find out that BMS has become unequivocally beyond reproach in terms of its relationship with the publishers, developers, community, and particularly, lawyers.
Iām SO PROUD of our guys, what theyāve accomplished over the years, and the absolute passion they have for the sim.
There are literally too many names to mention, but in particular, Jammer and Boxer (and Mrivers just cuz. :)) ventured on a journey something like 10 years ago (heck Iām too damned old to remember). These guys represent a very tight group of people that have bled, begged, pleaded for the continuity of Falcon, and much is owed to them. Although I know they would want no accolades for their achievements, Iām sure there is a simple pleasure to know this sim is still alive and well loved. If you knew what I knew, youād know how hard they worked, how much patience they had, and how calm they remained over numerous and contentious issues over the years. And yet, they persevered.
Iām humbled and truly honored to have been a tiny tiny part of that type of community.
Next beer I drink will be for the BMS Devs! You guys rock!

RE: F.L.A.R.E. Revived
This is an awesome project. I especially love the fact that this will be a mod given freely to the community, as mentioned in the very first post. Assuming it remains like that, this mod, and others like it will get as much support from BMS members as can be given. Thanks again, this exemplifies the spirit BMS has been trying to create within the community!

RE: Hot List
This is a new thread to keep it clean as requested for it to become sticky.
Sticky made. Thanks for doing my work for me.

RE: 3D Cities for Falconā¦
Guys ,
If you really want this project to leave some mark on Falcon, IMHO the best chance is to try to work with what already existing. There are multitude LOD models of cities, towns , settlements , industrial objects already in Falcon. Why not improve them by growing them larger?
You can double, triple all the way to n-uple by copy@ paste, and then transpose: move & rotate virtually any element of the existing database. You can ADD new elements, new buildings and industrial or military complexes, new super airbases. This can be really well coordinated with background tiles to give more robust look in 3D.There is virtually unlimited number of possibilities already within our reach without kind of inventing the wheel, which is fine for the purpose of the posting, but not really for practical follow up and implementation in the 3D engine.
What is perhaps needed is little more user friendly interface of LOD Editor and some serious individual commitment. Yesā¦ little learning and unfortunately lots of time. Just my 2cā¦
EDIT:maybe it cant be done, maybe not. LODEditor is crashing a lot
I couldnāt agree more. Hereās the thing that chaps my hideā¦ if you tell people to stop dreaming and get to work, they tell you that youāre being negative. Well, this is a classic case. The ability to add buildings are already in Falcon. So why hasnāt more work been done on that front? Two reasons: 1) With the current engine it will kill FPS and by default, immersion. 2) Itās HARD and takes TIME. I propose the people spending literally hundreds of hours posting on these forums should instead spend some of that time actually doing some of the things they propose others do. The excuse of āI donāt know howā is irrelevant, since these same folks also want to come across as the experts of these subjects. Really, itās time for a reality check and give some respect to the theater creators who DO spend the time and energy doing it as quickly and efficiently as can be done.
Sorry for the rant, but this is getting old.

RE: BMS F18 A and C upgrade - community involvement
@Smokin:
How about a cockpit video of this thing trapping on the new boat. Cāmon! Throw another bone.
In order to do that, heād have to land the trap.

RE: The Falcon Epopee - The history of Falcon 4
The truth? Well, Iāve probably forgotten more than I remember, but I can say in the age old battle between FF and BMS, the differences were more philosophical in nature brung about by differing management styles. Those fundamental differences ultimately brought about the creation of two different Falcon teams. Over time, the difference in versions between either Falcon flavor created a scenario where ābringing it all back together under one roofā was literally impossible. Iām not sure about FF management at this point in time, but I will say that weāve long since stopped worrying about that issue and have just focussed on what weāre doing. I really think our success has been for 2 reasons: 1) We have a REALLY great coding team. 2) Our EULA is awesome. The whole team was involved in writing it, and if you are a modder I believe it is designed to work for you, and not against you.
One last side note: Our management style is practically non existent. For some of you bean counters (me included as one of them), this might surprise you. The only down side weāve really experienced is relatively slow releases. We are well aware of the issue, but honestly, I donāt think many folks care. Weāre happy to just do what we do, and release when it all āfeels rightā.

RE: 801st/Falconers ATO & events
I want to remind everyone, and it seems right about the timing, but letās hold our brothers and sisters with respect please. As moderators, we absolutely hate doing our job. Weād much rather be doing something else than waving the big stick around. With VERY few exceptions since we made the forums public, we havenāt had to do much to keep things running smoothly, and weād like to keep it that way. Letās just continue to foster a friendly attitude that supports each other, rather than fall into the trap that many forums seem to go towards. Thanks for your understanding.

RE: FALCON BMS ZE-LAUNCHER!
Thanks DeeJay.
Iāve already lost faith in reporting offensive PMs as from past experience sending personal attacksā¦calling me āmoronā and many other things seems to be wholly acceptable practice (at least PMs directed to me anyway). Furthermore, this threat didnāt just come from anyone obscure so to prevent any additional spanners in the works for my theater, Iāve decided to take the icon out.
Private Mails are wellā¦ private. Hard for a moderator to moderate those types of things for any number of reasons.
You can, and I would strongly suggest should, ignore whoever the offender is. If they decide to make public comments personally attacking you, I can assure you it will be dealt with swiftly. If it makes you feel better, Iāve had PMās directed to me that would make your head spin. I had one guy literally write about 20 pages of hate mail, calling me every name in the book, and probably coming up with a few concatentations that had never previously been considered. I just thought it was the funniest thing everā¦ itās good to develop a sense of humor about those folks. As for your work, please donāt stopā¦ itās obvious that most people appreciate it.

RE: Suggestion for database, data supply
Then Shouldnt Scoob sustain the same punishment for his remark of " a boy who cried wolf". Sure that may not seem to abrasive to some, but to others that may be down rite rude. You say that there is āZeroā Tollerance for attacks. Then you need to hold everyone to the same Tollerance.
Otherwise you are just taking sides. Period.
Read the forum rules again. They are both clear and simple. By the way, one does not equal the other. Scoobs remark was not a direct attack while Molniās remark, plus past history, is a direct reflection of his attitude. Itās why we will not normally perma ban someone for a ārudeā or āabrasiveā remark, at least the first time. Molni has a history of these remarks, so the punishment definitely fit the crime. Iāve said everything that needs to be said of this issue and donāt have the patience to debate it with you.
-
RE: Suggestion for database, data supply
Molni was banned alright, for personal attacks. If it were up to me, the ban would have been permanent considering this wasnāt his first time. There will be absolutely zero tolerance for calling someone names. Period.
The rules as so simple, itās not even funny.

RE: Suggestion for database, data supply
@OSD:
in the data that entered into the database
in which thread to write about them?Great questionā¦ thereās a forum for that called Technical Support.
But I digressā¦ on a positive note, you can expect some great things for the next release. -
RE: Suggestion for database, data supply
@OSD:
in the falcon database just a huge number of errors and distortions
ā¦According to whom? I would be interested in specific errors and distortions if possible. That way, if there are some legit items Iād be happy to pass them along. We know about gaps in CT #'s, but what else?
And if the errors and distortions are really āHUGEā, then how is it possible so many people are deriving enjoyment from flying BMS?

RE: Suggestion for database, data supply
I wish Scoob_SBM the best of luck with his (our) holy DB for the next 20 years. I did hope for a better one. The outcome off this should be some dev working side by side with molni.
I guess no better red data source exists.You might find it interesting to know that internally there has been a profound amount of time consumed looking into Molni and his edits. I think itās interesting that BMS is comprised of folks from Openfalcon, RPG, original Falcon 4 team, BMS, and Superpak and Freefalcon. All of whom have univerally panned both his attitude and information. The fact that he continually chooses to put down the work of others is why he would never be asked to join the team. The fact that his data, while interesting, is also very suspect along many different lines is another reason he would not be on our team. Itās not ājustā that some of his data might be spot on while other data is notā¦ we canāt be bothered with deciphering between which is which when there truly are other more important priorities. Quite honestly, the only reason heās not permanently banned is because we genuinely hope heāll change his attitude and stop insulting the work done by the afformentioned groups. If he personally attacks another member of this forum by calling them names or teling them to āGo to Hellā, he will be banned permanently. What really bothers me is that if his disdain is so great for BMS, then why bother posting, or otherwise flying it? That seems like a stress he could really do without.

RE: BMS F18 A and C upgrade - community involvement
It takes 3 things: Desire, documentation, and years worth of time. Iām not sure we have those ingredients.
