RE: Printing the 4.34 BMS manual: The Lulu connection
The deal for today is now 30% off, this is the limit of what I’ve ever seen them do.
Promo Code: CYBERMONDAY30
Just wanted to share this info. -
RE: F-16A
That’s in the USAF museum in Dayton Ohio.
You can climb in that cockpit and get a feel for it.
I assume hundreds of people every day step on that seat, so it’s going to take a beating. -
RE: YAME64 suite
ddoc,
Thanks for the reply. I looked in the YAME /conf/ subfolder like you directed me to and neither of the files they told me to copy were in there. I uninstalled YAME, completely deleted everything YAME related, and redownloaded it. I set it up like last time, though this time everything works just fine! I can launch BMS from YAME without any problem. Awesome, one more baby step complete! Some day I’ll have the mini pit put together and running correct.
Thank you for your time!

RE: YAME64 suite
I’m having trouble getting YAME to run correctly, I’m hoping you can help.
Be gentle, I am quite new at all of this and not very computer savvy at all.
I had an older version of YAME installed, but I never got it to work correctly with little effort. I uninstalled that version and downloaded the latest version, then I read about deleting the .dll file and deleted that. Should have I deleted that before installing the new version?
YAME loads up fine, and I am able to set up the instruments on the second monitor as I’d like. I click on RUN CLIENT and the second monitor shows some instruments and some black boxes where others should be. I assume this is all normal up to this point. When I click LAUNCH BMS, BMS starts to load and then quits, sometimes I get an error, sometimes it just seems to self close. BMS launches just fine by itself (4.33 U2). I am running on Win7 64, one machine with two monitors. Am I right that I don’t need to touch anything with the SERVER side of things? I’m confused about the 3dhook, do I want that or not?
Sorry for being such a know-nothing newb, I really tried to comprehend the install instructions but I just feel lost.
Thank you,

RE: Lulu promotions
Just received an email from Lulu saying to use code HUGESAVINGS for a 40% off now through November 3.
This is the biggest discount I’ve seen, if you’re thinking about getting some manuals now may be the time!Speaking of which, I ordered the BMS manual, the dash 1, and the dash 34. Are there any other “must have” manuals that I should think about picking up?

RE: Which One?
Thanks for all the input everyone. It sounds like I have enough horse power to at least try BMS 4.33, if the performance isn’t where it needs to be with the setup I have then maybe I’ll look into a GPU upgrade. I’ve got some manuals on order, so I’ve got some 700+ pages to start with. I ordered the BMS manual as well as the dash 1 and the dash 34. Did I miss a critical manual? I was trying to keep this initial purchase within reason.

I just received a 35% discount by using code NIGEL35.
Not sure how long this will be valid. -
RE: Which One?
Monitor resolution ?
If u are on a hd monitor putting another one for instruments it will work but your VGA might be on the edge mostly cause of the 2gb VRAM.
If u will be on 4k monitor I wouldn’t go for instruments monitor . I might try but don’t expect to be ok.Thanks for that input, Arty. My monitor has a native 1440 x 2560 resolution. Not 4k, but a step up from 1080 still.
Is the graphics card the bottle neck in this situation? Would that single upgrade be noticeable running this sim with the set-up I described?
Thank you all for your help and encouragement. -
RE: Opentrack + 3d printed 3 IR led clip + PS3 Cam.
Here’s a fun tip. I recently moved my computer to a basement, no windows and LED lighting. The LED lighting emits zero IR light! I thought my camera set-up was not working, usually I could get the modified camera to pick up a little image if I tried. When I fired up the 3-point IR clip, voila the camera would pick up an image of my face with the IR’s shining on it. So, in a completely bright lit room, the IR tracker can work perfectly. I know the non windows help immensely, but usually incandescent lights still gave off some IR light. I’m using the PS3 cam with the IR filter removed and a few layers of exposed film to block the visible light.

Which One?
Hello.
I realize I am a complete newbie, and I am hoping to avoid the avalanche of replies that have nothing constructive to say. I know you guys get trolled a lot, but I promise this isn’t another one. Basically what I’m saying is I fully admit to not having RTFM.
All I’d like to know, before I even get started, is which sim I should dive into according to my equipment. Should I try and run 4.33, 4.32, or stick with AF? I have read the system specs for 4.33, but I don’t know where to find 4.32’s specs. My rig:
amd fx-6350 @ 3.9GHz
8G ram
win7 64-bit
amd r7 260x 2G
asus pb278My externals:
thrustmaster warthog hotas
Saitek combat rudder pedals
thrustmaster mfd set
homemade IR head tracker (This I’ve tried, and works pretty good. Quite impressed with myself)
I even have a usb plug in icpI’d like to be able to set up a second monitor for the mfd screens and a few gauges.
I know I don’t have a very powerful rig, so my question is will I be able to run 4.33 at mild settings with the desired set-up I want? Would running 4.32 be better? I haven’t downloaded anything yet, I haven’t fully looked into what the “dance” will entail.
Thank you in advance,
Crow
