I am hoping to get a Winwing F16ex stick with an extra mini stick.
This mini stick would be handy for controlling the mouse axes and left button, especially in VR.
Has anyone accomplished this yet? Any ideas?
Thanks

Unfortunately I don’t have any good advice because I had to abandon hope of using USB hubs in the past. I will keep an eye on this thread and hope we both find some good things to try.
@Snake122 Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I used a table saw with cross-cut sled and the cuts were accurate and precise. A few licks with a file smoothed off the edges very nicely.
Now I have the immersive effect of VR with the ability to look down my nose and see the ICP and MFD buttons in my pit. I can find “P” for pause and even pick up the mouse off the floor without removing my VR headset.
Brilliant!!
@Snake122 That looks interesting. I found a lot of gaskets offering FOV improvement but didn’t manage to find any that were cut. Can you point me in the right direction?
VR is awesome! I have been waiting for this experience since I fell in love with jets 40 years ago! Thank you devs!!
Depth perception adds so much realism. Sitting in the virtual pit feels natural. Flying formation is easier to judge. Looking over the side rail at the ground gives me a twinge of acrophobia sometimes. So Real!! I am planning to add towel racks somehow in the near future so I can check six without twisting my head off. I might also get a small spray bottle of JP-8 to spritz near my sim pit so it smells real too.
My question -
With classic monitor & TrackIR I made good use of the right toe brake pedal by mapping it to the FOV axis. I could point my toe and zoom in, but this doesn’t seem to work under VR. I miss this feature because I gave up some resolution when I switched to VR.
I am able to map the axis to FOV via the AxisAssign tab of the launcher, but it has no effect when my goggles are on.
Am I trying to do this the wrong way? Or is there a workaround?
Looking forward to the new terrain and the 4.37 teaser music was OUTSTANDING!! Stay awesome!
Thanks for these ideas. I have a Reverb G2 and plan on getting a spare gasket that I can cut down.
VR is so immersive I almost get acrophobic! Huge thanks to the devs! So awesome!!
I anticipated trouble seeing my MFD’s and ICP and I hope this lookunder mod helps with that. I did not anticipate so much difficulty checking six o’clock.
My back and neck just aren’t supposed to turn that far
Has anyone installed towel bars near their VR pit to help with this?
Looking forward to the next version when it’s ready!
Thanks and Stay Awesome !!
@white_fang Cool! I did not know about that MC feature! Thanks much!
Many thanks to you and the team for another solid performance. I have indeed launched 4.36 for a half dozen flights and was excited to see new stuff in 3D! C-130’s parked on the ramp at Gunsan are a great idea and look super. Also thrilled to see that AI can now fly NOE and attack specific targets in strike missions! I could go on and on here, but I need to prep for another flight tomorrow morning. Maybe it’s time to try leading an AI flight for a low level laydown attack… Sweet!
I just spent money on GPU, so I’m greedy to get all the eye candy that’s available.
I remember seeing posts in the past about 3D models being released on a regular basis, mostly between Falcon BMS updates. This is the stuff I am after and I think @DedNinBirt has put me on the right track here.
Are most of these eventually incorporated into BMS updates, or are these community mods outside the supported body of software?
Thanks again and stay awesome!
Maybe I am missing something. Are the updated models already included in 4.36? Or is there a theater that includes them?
I finally got my hardware upgrades and am ready for more eye candy!!
Can someone help me find a list of custom 3d models that are compatible with 4.36 and instructions to install them?
Interesting ideas and looking forward to VR.
What stage would the AI and campaign engine be available in MSFS? These are some of the most important ingredients in the BMS “special sauce”.
@chihirobelmo said in Falcon BMS Alternative Launcher (Easy Setup, Keep Joystick Assignments):
@sixpack Can you backup .xml files in the User/Config folder, send it to me, then delete them from your local?
Can do. What’s the best way to send them to you?
There are 6 files I removed from my user/config folder.
I started up AL afterward and had to configure my throttle. After unchecking the box, I tried to launch BMS but got CTD again.
Now I see new XML files, but not for the throttle. Maybe the throttle is part of the problem?
I have made a bunch of hardware and software changes recently and now I am having trouble with AL version 1.60:
—If I check the box labeled “Launch without any setup override.” then Falcon BMS (4.35.2) loads normally.
—If I uncheck the box and click “Launch,” then I get a CTD.
Any suggestions? Is there an easy way to clear out my AL config data and start fresh?
Hi,
Sometimes I wait 8-12 campaign hours between flights. This means that targets I identified when I was in 3D mode can disappear from 2D view.
(For example, I am looking for payback after half my flight was killed by SAM crew on a missile cruiser. Now that I’m ready to frag a package, the ship is gone… or is it?)
It could be ‘fog of war’ or could be that a friendly AI flight has already wiped it out. It would be handy to run through a log file of events to see what has happened when I was doing something else and the campaign was running in the background.
I did not find anything about this in the documentation and am wondering if anyone else has the same interest or if this has been implemented somehow.
Does anyone know how to pipe the intel feed into a file for leisurely review?
Thanks!
+1 to comments from Alfred and Oakdesign.
Also, if terrain & threat environment allow, make your approach oblique (SA-3 at 10:00 or 2:00 or so) until you acquire the target with the TGP. Handoff is not necessary. This will help you maintain standoff range.
Plan your cold turn before you go hot.
When you are ready, turn hot, check your keyhole, pickle and go cold.
Also, don’t hesitate to shout “Rifle!!” when you pickle - it startles the SA-3 crews and can make them panic if you are loud enough…
Riding the silk does allow for “Action View”. You can watch the war for a while
Perfect!
Thank you!!
Wow that’s very impressive!
Also far beyond what I was hoping for. I would just like to have control of the view angle when hanging from the chute.
Maybe it’s one of those things thats easy to say but difficult to create. If it’s not already in the sim, then probably it’s not worth the effort yet.
Better to work on other things and I will endeavor to stay in the jet a little longer. I can always watch the action afterward with Tacview.
Can someone explain the term “grease” used in the cheat sheet?
This maneuver is apparently an option during an intercept if you try a notch but are still spiked after 6 seconds. “Exit” is another option in this situation.
I looked but could not find grease in brevity manual and Google provided mostly noise about aircraft lube.
That failed notch situation seems like a place where another option would be most welcome…
