How many flights in a day?
-
Hi all
Just wondering how many flights/missions ppl here fly in the course of a day? I myself usually fly around two missions when I have the time. Most of the time it is from taxi to shutdown. Not too often do I go from ramp start to shutdown.

3-5 sorties per week, with complete briefing preparation + ramp +debrief. most offline nowadays.
In the last 12 months I flew 411.2 hours.

Right now I’m suffering a serious bout of BMS addiction, trying to win my first campaign in KTO (the 2nd one I believe, where the North invades ROK territory and you have to repel them and capture Wonsan, Pyonyang and Hamhung (hehe ;)) afterwards), so I’m flying about 3-4 missions a day, also trying to track down and eliminate those spurious “leaving aircraft” hangs and in-game crashes.
I mostly go from taxi to jet shutdown, a mission takes about 40 to 60 minutes on average, and I finally got rid of that lowly “2nd Lt.” rank and have been promoted to Captain during the campaign (I’ve totalled about 210 flight hours in this bms install so far, had about 120 in Allied Force if I recall correctly).
Cheers, Uwe

I too am trying t win my first campaign, playing Korea Theater on Veteran level. I’d like to complete at least one campaign considering I have been playing Falcon 4/AF/BMS ever since Falcon 4.0 came out! I would go through binge sessions only to be distracted by latest bobble (damn you Metro/Far Cry/Doom/etc!)

A friend and I ran a Korean Campaign recently, and we were able to get in just 2 missions every 12 hours, including full pre-flight brief and post flight de-brief. We did that for three days, but it depends largely on preferred style of play. In my early days I was squeezing in 8 missions or more on a weekend because I would just hop in the cockpit of whatever was closest to it’s objective finish the combat part of the objective, and then back out and find another op.
It’s much more fun to be responsible for the Jet from beginning to end, and much more fun as well.

Fly ramp to ramp, it gives you the opportunity to be on top of things from the start and plan the flight appropriately.
Dee-Jay is right on when he says 90% of the realism in the sim is up to the pilot.
For myself, in the last few months Ive gotten several days where I have gotten 6 missions in. Most days that I fly its somewhere in the 1 to 4 range though.

Zero, but in a few months I’ll be flying as much as I can.

I mostly get a single mission in on a Friday night when Mrs Zep and bambino Zep are fast asleep. This is the full shebang; agonizing over the plan (again and again), ramp up, fly, land, ramp down. Generally it takes around 2 hours or so. The level of mission success or failure greatly influences the mood I’ll be in going to bed

…and I’ll be first in line to fly with ya! Wish you the best of luck in SK and look forward to flying with you. Sounds like you doing well, too bad you couldn’t take the Fam. Trusty Cougar still performs flawlessly with daily use.
Back on topic - I usually get in two flights a night 2-3 nights during the work week. On weekends, it varies. If I don’t have much going on I can get a lot of flights in. If I have stuff going on, I may not fly at all.

Three here : two solo flights and one multiplayer flight per week. I figured out it’s what I need to keep proficient, and it’s the best I can do while still being a decent husband and a decent father.

Even as a dev for BMS, you might feel this strange but…
I never fly! I maybe flew two TE this year for now, except some short beta tests for some very specific points… The rest of the time, I only make developement, which is in my case, much more fun than flying for now! I love indeed to model my dreams!

about 4 a week (time dependent).
Trying to finish off Korea Strong R-77 fest - dragging on a bit.
A lot of my time goes on setting loadouts manually for packages and squadrons - have an OCD thing about that.

Did that on another sim for years so totally understand.

I treat it like the RL Air Force. I fly two training sorties to the range per day Monday thru Friday a couple of hours apart to stay sharp, and fly MP with my squad mates.

That’s actually, like, way more than any active duty USAF pilots fly. It’s hard to get a good figure, but I’ve generally heard that fighter pilots fly about 200-300 hours per year right now. Flying your schedule, and assuming your sorties are only one hour, your’re doing double that. Of course, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with what you’re doing, and I think the Air Force ought to fly more training sorties.

It’s intersting, I’m also developing a mod for another game.
While I was to tired for playing after work - when developing, I’m totally motivated and write for up to 5hours (until I notice that time passes by fast but I still hang on the same issue). All in all I have my cycle of 3 weeks. I am ~3 weeks flying flightgear, 3 weeks playing arma, 3 weeks flying falcon, 3 weeks playing some totally different games.
Per Falcon week I would say I make up to 4 flights (depending on how fast I get downed) and more specific two per day. -
Do to professional reasons i don’t get to fly much virtually. But to keep my skills up i try to fly twice a week. Usually i do plan a 1.5 hour sortie.
i try to alternate, so that at least once a month i have a night sortie, AAR, A-G, A-A and usually i combine it with some instrument flying.
But lately due to work i can go months without flying.
