X55 worth getting?

For me the X55 vs X52 debate centers on the adjustable spring, because the resistance in all three of my X-52’s is terrible. My X-55 came with the tightest spring on it, and it changed the way I do everything in the sim.
That being said, looking at the X-55 it also has dual throttle inputs, additional buttons, and the three-way switches on the throttle are in a usable position (unlike on the X-52 which puts them on the base of the stick). There are three HAT switches on the X-52, and four on the X-55 (which made a huge difference to me). The X-52 does have a four way on the front of the throttle that is in a better position then the front switches on the throttle on the X-55, but the X-55 makes up for that with more reachable usable buttons.
I wouldn’t trade my X-55 for anything.
I, too, dumped the X-52 for all the reasons you cite. The Saitek profiler for the X55, running behind the scene, makes the DX and profiler combo more workable.

Hi all Saitek owners, so for those who have it, is the X55 worth getting over the X52 Pro? and another key factor for me is, does the X55 require two USB’s to be plugged into the PC? (one from throttle, one from stick).
CNS, I would say the x-55. I have the -55 as “in closet backup”(I have a -65), and have used a friend’s -52. Since you mention the usp issue, the only way I could get the throttle to work was to plug both USP’s directly into the pc. I tried it first via a hub, didn’t work.

I have a X-55 and really like it. I haven’t tried the others, so can’t comment on those.

I actually hadnt realised i have 2 USB ports at the front, and another 4 at the back of my tower. So i can run an X-55 and have everything else plugged in that i need to play the sim no probs. Great….so X-55 for me it is, lets look on ebay.

Good news. I thought you had an old computer based on your previous statement of “limited USB ports”.

one other consideration, are there any good BMS Profiles supporting the X55? I know there are some nice ones for the X52 Pro such as Scuby’s.
-
And i’ve just bought one so now waiting for it to be delivered. Cant wait and getting excited lol…Falcon BMS is installed waiting for me to sink my teeth into it. I’m also gona buy head tracking gear, the Delan clip and a mic to do MP. That leads me to ask this, will the Delan clip and the camera both need to be plugged into the PC by USB?

I have what I consider a good one. Need it?

I’ve been seeing quite a lot of comments about the X55 being difficult to setup, is it really that difficult?

No.
-
Absolutely not!
-
I’m just thinking it might not be difficult for you but probably will for me. As a complete newbie, will i still find it easy?
-
Yes is still the answer. Most of the rotaries will be programmed through the BMS setup. The rest…just get a profile from someone and program your HOTAS to your liking. To make it even easier, get with someone in your time zone…or close to your time zone and get on TS3 for a walk-through.

Cheers.

I should be receiving my X55 in the post tomorrow, and i’ll get my delan clip sometime in first week of september, happy days.
-
@cns - Are you located in the U.S.? If so, what time zone?

Just to add to the discussion.
Newbie here too and to be frank not hard to set up at all.
Although I’ve asked a couple of questions here the answers have been so obvious I’ve felt a bit of an idiot afterwards!
Another observation though…
I decided to set mine up totally in game and not by using the Saitek software. Mostly well but be aware…the key file.key does occasionally do some really weird things…like random assignments…well that’s my experience.
Regards
Gary

No i’m in the UK, and by the looks of it a good portion, i guess most people on here are in the US.
