Massive FPS Loss

I would ask if each tree which is autogen’d by the sim becomes a target for anti-aliasing. If so your Anti-Aliasing settings may have a large impact when trees are being rendered due to the sheer quantity.
That being said I don’t know if the code or the GPU has optimizations / strategies to handle this type of implementation to avoid the frame drop.
ie. 8x Anti Aliasing without trees on 4.32 may require reducing to 2x or off if you were just above satisfactory frames (satisfactory being your preferred min/max) if it’s the case.
Another thing I noticed in my case (running Windows Server 2012 R2) that having the power setting in control panel to “Performance” causes less FPS drop in the sim. It may have to do with how the OS schedules the C states based on CPU demand with a server OS, but I do the same on my W10 & W8.1 setups. Seems it doesn’t properly gauge the CPU demand and keeps it throttled down for too long before ramping up but as mentioned it may be a quirk of Server 2012R2 and may not be representative of a desktop based OS.

We have to fly more economical, pulling g’s cost you 15 fps and most of the time you are not aware of the vortex at all.
Ease of the stick -
hi guys,
i suppose that perhaps it’s a right solution for help them
the graphics chipset use in general a memory inboard of video and partial memory of computers and the problem is just speed
and switch speed with chipset and bus of mother board
the solution of dee jay is good but the general problem of architect is flux of data as the video
good journey

Oh my gawd, such whining. Wahhh! I’m losing 15 FPS! Waaaahhhh! I can’t fly at 4K resolution with everything on like I could in 4.32. Waaah!!! What a perfect display of millennial-type outrage. Look at every other game / sim on the market. Black Ops 3 is more demanding than Black Ops 2 is more demanding than Black Ops 1. Battlefield 4 is more demanding than Battlefield 3 is more demanding than Battlefield 2.
BMS devs have spent hundreds of thousands of hours of their free time putting this together, and releasing it for free.
Anything over 15 FPS is perfectly flyable. Want more? Buy a better rig or turn down the options. Whining and complaining about FPS > 30 is absolutely absurd. Some of you need to seriously consider how atrocious your complaints are.
I’ve flown with FPS <27-30, and what I found is in a close-in dogfight, or seeing objects, I would miss critical frames which would have told me enemy direction, whereabouts, etc. Further, the lack of smooth motion below 27-30 FPS is just unrealistic and unpalatable for me. Further, if we are getting ~30 FPS framerates in basic training missions, campaigns are going to be untenable to that unlucky user.
“15 FPS is perfectly flyable”…? Not IMO.

Just to say… Maxed out the trees and no fps drop.
Opposite on my system. BMS 4.32 was around 60fps. BMS 4.33 is nearer 50 fps, but drops to 30 with any kind of trees on. The high res MFDs aren’t troubling my system, though.

For me the biggest impact is the anti-aliasing, all the rest has little to no impact…
I have an ATI Radeon HD7850. I found it to be ok setting it to 2x in catalyst center together with adaptive sampling which overwrites the ingame settings.
Some things look jigged but the FPS are now relatively ok around 50-60.Hope this can help someone.

It really does depend on your hardware, hence the advice in the BMS Manual: FPS Quest, i.e. try different settings and see what works for you.
For me adding full autogen trees (slider all the way to the right) costs about 1 fps. As Polak did such a great job of painting the tops of trees in his tiles I actually prefer to switch autogen trees off as I prefer the look of Polak’s tiles, unless I plan to be flying a lot under 1,500 ft, where the autogen trees look better and give more immersion.
Anti-aliasing 8x at 1440p doesn’t cost me much either (I force it on in CCC), much to my surprise. Older generaton graphics cards will suffer much more, newer ones less.
The point I’m trying to make here is don’t pay too much attention to what other people report, take the time to test with/without the different config options so you know what works on your PC and what you are comfortable with. If you are not prepared to take the time to test and configure everything properly then Falcon BMS may not be the right ‘game’ for you.
Don’t be obsessed with framerate numbers though, what matters is that the visual experience is smooth enough to be usable by you. If you are using AGM-65 Mavericks with the TGP and WPN page displayed in the MFDs and it’s stuttering and jerky your system is borderline, so avoid those kinds of weapons with a video display to keep your framerate up. If you’ve turned down all the settings and you are flying without any video or FLIR on your MFDs in Campaign, try TEs and see if that’s enough to give you a usable experience.
If it’s still too slow then you either need to upgrade, if possible, or consider going back to the less demanding 4.32 until you can upgrade. That’s not being harsh, it’s being realistic.
Falcon BMS 4.33 has raised the bar in many areas, including the bar to entry. There is nothing new here, every software evolution that I’ve ever come across is more demanding than the previous generation.

With FPS dropping below 60 I am interested in how do you experience the smoothness, does it still look smooth to you or does it begin to studder ??
Also interested in how NVIDIA users experience FPS and smoothnes below fps 60, it could be that NVIDIA suffers more on relative low fos then READON. -

However what I cannot live with is the massive fps drop when dropping (get it? stuff on the range, be it CBUs, GBUs or other stuff (strafing seems fine). I’ve already reduced the particle system via bms config, bu t that hasn’t helped very much.
I still think my syste should perform much better than it does as it’s not exactly a slouch (not high end either), but I haven’t found the culprit yet. I don’t see myself starting a campaign anytime soon because of the fps issue, so I’m sticking with TEs and AAR for now.
Cheers, Uwe

It’s true, but I still have to partly disagree : some of us encounter fps drops that aren’t related to the generation of their hardware.
Notice I don’t blame the team : I understand there’s a limit to the kind of optimization you can reach with a code that was first written 20 years ago. -

At some points I even have 70FPS. My screen can go up to 144Hz so I do really feel a difference especially with the FacetrackNoIR moving your head very fast around in the cockpit. -
FPS issue with both TGP and WPN page or Flir enabled. I own an Amd phenom ii x6 1055t, overclocked to 4 ghz, and a Gigabyte G1 Gaming 970 GTX. On the tfr te I have around 15 fps with flir in hud, tgp in left mfd and flir in the right one.
I understand that 4.33 is more demanding than 4.32,but I play all the latest games at ultra settings with lot of fps. For example Elite Dangerous at about 90-100 fps and the witcher 3 at about 70,both of them - in fact - with ultra settings.

4Ghz+GTX970. I’m becoming more convinced that Nvidia has a problem wit Maxwell chip.
This vid is showing my problems, FPS is relative high, does it look familiar? https://www.dropbox.com/s/imx5v5hry468650/Falcon%20BMS_2015_11_17_15_42_19_453.avi?dl=0 -
To be honest I’ve only problems with 4.33, amongst all the dozens of games I play, so I doubt the problem is with Nvidia or Maxwell chipset alone (maybe you meant with the combination of these and Bms?). But hey, okay, it’s only my 0,50 cents.
Fact is, in my opinion, that BMS incurred in the same exact issue Eagle Dynamics did with DCS 1.2: you can’t raise the bar too much with DirectX 9, because you don’t take advantage of new technologies (my gpu sits at about 40-50% in BMS while the first core of the CPU caps at 100% and the other five remaining cores stay pretty idle doing nothing at all).
Dcs 1.5,in fact, addressed this, changing to DirectX 11, determining a big improvement in performance for all those that had problems with the former 1.2. But 1.2 was horrible for many.
I’ll live with it until I can upgrade to a Skylake.

I would be curious to see your FPS on the runway in the TFR TE, with TGP on a MFD and FLIR on the other MFD and in HUD too.
-
Just for reference:
Everything maxxed out and 2560 x 160 resolution.
With video in both my MFD’s, 80 fps vs 120 with both off (BMS FPS counter)
-GTX 980ti the gpu runs at approx 90% and video memory 1.5-3.0 GB,
-CPU @4.5Ghz usage 2 cores 45-60% 2 cores 30-40% and 2 cores @ 5-10%Looks to me like its the gpu getting the workout.

Perhaps ATI R9 380 has better specs and is perhaps better suited for BMS by it’s nature
ATI R9 380 vs GTX 960
More memory 4,096 MB vs 2,048 MB 2x more memory
Better floating-point performance 3,290 GFLOPS vs 2,308 GFLOPS Around 45% better floating-point performance
More shading units 1,792 vs 1,024 768 more shading units
More texture mapping units 112 vs 64 48 more texture mapping unitsNvidia GTX960. FPS does not reveil that gameplay comes with a constant stutter on this vid card. Tomorrow I will compare with R9 380

You also can get the GTX-960 with 4 GB RAM…
I tried to find a benchmark / test to compare R9-380 and GTX-960 with *4 GB RAM, but I couldn’t. -
26FPS with FLIR, TGP, AA etc …!!! VERY good!!! I am jealous!
I hope to have the same with my new GTX970 replacing my old GTX260 896Mo installed on an: Asus P5KC, Intel Core 2 DUO E8600 @4Ghz, 4Go RAM CORSAIR HIGH VALUE 800Mhz XMS2 6400.
… I will know in few days

I hope to have the same with my new GTX970
970 is a great, great card. Can’t guarantee for BMS, because, like I said, my FPS suffer, under certain conditions. And I more and more suspect that my AMD CPU is the culprit for that (yes, it’s overclocked to 4 ghz, but it’s far nonetheless from computational power of an i5 or i7).
But 970, per se, is a great product. You won’t regret it.

i got 35fps in TE mission, now i m afraid to play campaign.
my PC is from my grandpa’s legacy, no need to spec it.
