Why VMS' "caution" message sounds like it does?
-
Ok, so, once again I got curious about this particular voice message. My understanding is that she says “caution, caution”. Now, I know my English is faaar from perfect, so I went around Youtube and listened to a bunch of people saying “caution”. And they don’t sound like Betty does.
So, can any native English speaker comment on this? Is this some sort of “over pronounced” word for the sake of clarity, say like “niner” instead of nine, or something else perhaps?
Stupid question, I know, but I’m bored.

I replaced most of my VMS with a far sexier voice from another sim.
Check out my youtube night landing video to hear it.

What’s weird about how she says CAUTION? Its never struck me as odd…
-
I would expect it to sound like this:
But my non-native hears could swear she’s saying “coffee”.
“Coffee, coffee”… No thanks honey, I just took an R-77 up my $%& and I am on fire. Maybe later.

Sounds like ‘Caution’ to me… really dont know how to hear ‘coffee’ instead.

My 2 cents… It sounds perfectly like “caution” on my rig

I sometimes hear “coffin”. Which often is spot on.

Sounds perfectly “CAUTION” to me.
Whatever it sounds, all Betty sounds has been sampled from real recordings.
Example at 0:40

I still hear coffee.
BTW, try turning on auto-subtitles on that one. “idiotic like control, well you should ask her”. LOL

I’m English, and in the Southern half where I’m from we say it like “Cor-shurn!”
I think US English most say it like “Caw-shun”

Perhaps it is saying coffee to warn the pilot that he is getting close to the ground and watch he doesn’t spill his coffee

This is an F-16, not a C-5
