when doing ground attack missions with the AIs, they always seems to drop 2 bombs on the same target.
quite annoying when hes dropping 2 gbu31 and cant attack something else.is there a way to have have the AI drop the amount of bomb you want them to?
2
doing Dead/Sead with an AI, me having JSOW and the AI has HARM
even when the ‘‘weapon free’’ command is given, the AI is not using the HARM on anything in the way.
would it be possible?
am I doing something wrong?

is there a way, ingame, to have the name of the locations written?ex: in the briefing, it is written that there is a SAM threat 10nm south of XXXXX town
where is that location?so far I’m doing random recon near the objectives and guess where they are, and it’s quite a pain…

when trimming left/right with the keyboard, sometime the trim keeps on and on until I press the button again, sometimes not…
the keyboard is not the problem with a sticky key
that’s it for now
I guess that some anwsers must be in the manual, if so, just tell me and I’ll RTFM
ThxGJ for the BMS crew, you’re doing an amazing work!:D

For (2), designate a target and have him “attack my target” or even try “attack Targets” command
for (3) In the UI map right click and choose to have Political (I think that’s the name, you’ll see a list of things you can have named and placed on the map) items displayed. It will populate a ton of names so you’ll have to zoom in to make them out.
for (4), you may just be holding the key too long, tapping will work fine.
No idea on 1, may just be what they do.

1. Yes and no depending on which weapon. LGB he will release one at a time always. MK-82/84 he will release pairs matching your RP SMS setting (so if you have 2 RP single or 2 RP pairs he will release 4 bombs in both cases). JDAM is treated similar to dumb bombs for some reason. Other weapons release in different quantities and from different altitudes.
2. Weapons free in the AG context allows the AI to engage mission AG targets at will. However this will must exist prior to the freedom given. AI using HARMs express this desire rarely if at all and should be directed to engage AG targets specifically. If your aircraft has no HTS for HAD or AGM-88 for HAS or TGP to visually identify a emitting target selecting a valid target for an AI can be exceptionally difficult.
3. It will always be a city/town/village and the “find” button will display it and its label in a helpful way. Offset is best done by using the ruler option.
4. There are 2 trim controls in the F-16, one on the SSC and one on the left console. Make sure you are using the one for the stick.

Wrong, The AI will ALWAYS try to release ALL JDAMs he has in a single pass, it has normally 0.8 second delay between drops (besides bombers which have 0.1 second, I’ll explain why below) so assuming he is acquiring targets correctly between releases, you should see him release all JDAMs in ~(0.8 * Number of bombs) seconds.
The fashion he will release the bombs depends on which command you gave him:
Attack my target - AI will release all JDAMs on the specific target he designated from your command.
Attack targets - AI will release all JDAMs on all available targets in the area of the designated target. Multi-target pass. Now why bombers have 0.1 delay only? because in the net you can see movies of e.g B-1 or B-52s dropping many JDAMs with very small delay on different targets, I guess they have some pre-planned system to feed coordinates into each bomb designated for drop in the coming pass. You can see it happening by watching 2 AI bombers with many JDAMs, they will drop every bomb on random targets in a complex (of course some targets will be targeted more than once but you get the idea…)
From my experience “Weapons free” command works similar to “Attack targets” if you are in front of a strike/DEAD STPT, but I always use “Attack targets” or “Attach my target” if I want to make sure that the AI does execute the attack on what I expect.
Also from my experience better use “Attack my target” if you want the AI to destroy a specif target with as many bombs as he carries, for example if you are on an OCA strike and you want to destroy a runway section and each of you carry 2 bombs, then you can instruct him to “Attack my target” on 1 runway section, and you can take the other one. And OTOH if you are attacking some factory complex with 4 JDAMs for example, then you can tell him to “Attack targets” so he will spread his bombs randomly between the complex’s targets.

Sorry, so JDAM is similar to WCMD and SDB, several rapid launches are possible. Is there class of weapon limited to one-at-a-time PGM delivery only including LGBs (TV MITL) now or am I forgetting a type?
Is A-M-Targets truly random distribution or by some priority logic?

You can use the ‘Rejoin’ command after AI fired first weapon to stop them launching another one, I use it when I have them shoot Harms at targets I’ve selected.

Hi, no you need to distinguish more precisely:
LGBs - need laser guidance so AI will release one at a time (makes sense).
JDAMs - As I explained above.
WCMD - Same as JDAM.Missiles are different, and don’t confuse types people, the following are defined as missiles in the DB:
SDBs
JSOW
All MITL weaponsMissiles will be fired with the following general rules:
Attack my target command - Only 1 missile will be fired and the AI will rejoin afterwards.
Attack targets:
GPS missiles like SDBs or JSOWs will be all released one after another, i.e the AI will fire, acquire a new target and fire again after sometime until all missiles are gone, or he gets too close to the target.Mavericks - A pair will be released on 2 targets and then the AI should turn around for another pass. Why Mavericks? because I wanted them to not waste all missiles on same targets when targeting a tank column for example, also less chances for same kills within a flight.
HARM - IIRC only 1 missile will be fired anyway and then the AI will rejoin, the reasons are obvious I hope.
MITL/LGM - AI should fire 1 missile and hold from firing another until the first missile exploded, for MITL the AI should turn away from the target to simulate guidance of the weapon and for LGMs it should stay at a “lasing angle” towards the target.
You can use the ‘Rejoin’ command after AI fired first weapon to stop them launching another one, I use it when I have them shoot Harms at targets I’ve selected.
As noted above, if the AI is instructed to attack a specific target, then he should automatically rejoin (you won’t here him rejoining, but he should :)).

thx all for your answers.
1- I think for the GBUs it was because the target would not have been destroyed with only 1 bomb.
So far I ony attacked big targets… should try a water tower. 2 gbu-31 might be overkill for that one lol4- assiged trim buttons on my HOTAS… problem solved

There is an icon that represent Sam sites: SA2 site, SA3 site, etc
but there is no unit to targetwhat are those?
should I care about that? -

Does using time acceleration ‘‘degrade’’ AIs/weapons calculations/effectiveness?ex: if I drop a GBU-31, and maybe 2 sec after I time accelerate x16, do I have a (greater)chance that it’ll miss?
if I’m @x32 or more, will I miss some encounters with enemy AIs? -
IIRC it’s not “healthy” to run time accel in 3D world more than x4 and in UI more than x16.
Maybe these days with the stronger CPU/GPU we have these none-official rules no longer apply though… But I don’t see how it’s practical to fly at more than x4 in 3D world… I also do that when flying SP in campaigns to reduce the boring time but more than x4 I think you are almost none-efficient if something suddenly pops-up, some enemy AC closing by or some SAM painting you suddenly… think about it

Depending on computers, even x4 in 3D can be harmful.
IIRC, JP already advised to never use the time accelerator in 3D.
