4.33.1 will release shortly: what you need to know and how to be prepared

I install BMS on two computers though – my main gaming PC and a laptop for when I’m away on trips. Will BMS take issue if I install it on both computers using my GoG copy of Falcon 4.0? I’m hoping it doesn’t, and won’t simply allow both computers to be running BMS at the same time. If it does take issue, still no problems as I’ll just use my CD version.
The only advice we can give you is to read the license for the copies of Falcon 4.0 that you own and do what they say you should do for that situation.

Two words for the BMS gents: THANK YOU!!!
I can now go on with my life as a happy married man again! Not sure about the wife through, I suspect she had high expectations this would turn out to the dark side -
… so the new restriction is not a problem at all except for taking up a bit more hard-drive space
Note that original installer gives you the choice between Minimal, Typical or Full installation. “Minimal” will be just fine (if I remember corectly, about 180Mo or even less)

No way, bro, do the full and run it to see how far the sim has come.

150mb and 8 seconds to install.

That just might cure my sleeping problems as well! OMG, I just realized I’ve not read EULAs for 2 decades!

Never did install the original; I was too late to the party. I started with Allied Force However, I suspect that even with a Full install, it’ll still be less than most games today. Heck, FTL comes in at 400+MB… I’m sure we’ll manage somehow!
End of the day, awesome work by the BMS team to come to a quick and very reasonable terms with the new owners and the whole community is looking forward to 4.33.1!

I was just going to ask that question. I see Minimal (150MB), Typical (installs terrain but leaves movies on CD…310MB), Full (Installs EVERYTHING…568MB) and a Custom option. Thanks for confirming the Minimal option…and by today’s standard even the Full option shouldn’t be an issue for anyone.

Very reasonable solution….good news all around. Nice job, Tommo!

Yep this is great news and i have my new GFX card, GTX 960 coming next week, in good time for 4.33.1, woohoo.
I have an original copy of Falcon 4.0, in a hard box with manuals made by Microprose, that is ok right? just to clarify and thanks BMS.
One other thing i forgot how i installed 4.32, from what i remember it was a torrent file and i think someone guided me through its installation. Will 4.33.1 be as a torrent file and how do i install it?

Guys sorry to ask you but i need some directions here. I don’t have Falcon’s original CD’s so I just bought (on gog.com), the Falcon Collection that includes: Falcon (16 mb), Falcon AT (16 mb) and Falcon Gold (372mb).
What should i do ?
1. Uninstall my current Falcon BMS 4.33 ?
2. Do a fresh install ?
Which one should i install ? Falcon, Falcon AT or Falcon Gold ?3. And after that ?
Thanks in advance !

My question, Boxer - since Tommo now appears to own the rights to all Falcon properties, does it really still have to be the 4.0 release or is any legitimate install of Falcon acceptable - i.e.; Falcon 4.0: Allied Force - now?
That would also seem to constitute “fair use” in this case, but what is the case really…still 4.0, as stated?

Yes, most likely. Please use the search gadget to look for answers to torrent logistics.

1. Uninstall my current Falcon BMS 4.33 ?
Up to you.
2. Do a fresh install ?
Which one should i install ? Falcon, Falcon AT or Falcon Gold ?You need to have a complete install of Falcon 4.0. Falcon, Falcon AT or Falcon Gold (by which I presume you mean the one featuring the complete collection of updated versions of Falcon 3.0 , MiG-29, Operation: Fighting Tiger and Art of the Kill dogfighting video) will not work.
3. And after that ?
Wait for the release to become available and then install and [we hope] enjoy.

From the initial post:
For the avoidance of doubt, only copies of the original Falcon 4.0 game will work for use with Falcon BMS (any other later variants such as Allied Force are not compatible).

I couldn’t get the installer on the original cd for Falcon 4.0 to install on Windows 10 64-bit. Tried to install as administrator, no help. I fixed the problem, by buying a copy on Steam. Know I don’t have to sweat about damaging or losing my original copy. Man that thing was like gold to me.

I paid for my copy through steam and honestly its worth going legit. Especially if it benefits all parties.

better not hear anyone whinning about paying 10 bucks to play that sim :dhorse:

Nah, I’m good with this.

I did the minimum install and then had that exact thought and then reinstalled for a full!
I do have 3 original disks, but agree with the sentiment of buying the the GOG/Retroism Falcon Collection (and a couple of other titles). Both of the sites say it requires Steam to activate, correct? I need to be a little strategic here in my gb amount downloads since I have use an ISP with a data limit and my last system upgrade wiped Steam.

Great News! It’s been many years since I’ve played Falcon 4.0 and knowing it’s still alive and well thanks to you guys makes me smile. Glad to see both sides have come to an agreement that for all signs is well liked on both sides of the table. I have a CD Copy somewhere, but bought it on Steam anyways, just to support the re release.
