4.33 UI vs 4.33 FPS
-
Confirmed - definite 30% improvement for 4.33.1 on Intel Core i5 2500K (O/C to 4.2GHz); ASUS P8Z68-V LX; 8GB DDR3; AMD R9 380; Windows 7 64 bit, using same configuration as 4.33 - yet to try switching on more goodies. Currently achieving smooth 25-35 FPS on AGM-65 Training TE with TGP and MAV WPN extracted with MFDE onto 2x 7" LCD which I am v happy with!
-
With everything maxxed out in BMS and all graphics options on in BMS and no driver options on. Looks gorgeous and flies smooth as silk.
70-80 FPS on AGM-65 Training TE with TGP and MAV WPN. Vsync on (for tearing) and NEVER goes below 60 fps even on crowded airbases, or over FLOT.
Intel Core i7 3930K (O/C to 4.5GHz), GTX 980ti SC, 32GB DDR4,Windows 7 64 bit
Nice work BMS!!! -
Tweaking has not fixed the fps hit for me. I once ran 3 monitors at 60-80fps its down to 40-50 on the harm training TE. On the AGM-65 Training TE in 4.33 I would get 40-50s now 20-30fps. Big change in the wrong direction for me but going to make it work somehow.

Looks like I got It close to where it was in 4.33. I used some of the setting found here http://s51.photobucket.com/user/cptpfsuk7/media/afrrrr_zpsc04e92c5.png.html hopefully this can help some one else.
All is good again!

Interesting ShepT - why did you go for GPU controlled Anisotropic filtering but BMS controlled Anti-Aliasing?
-
It might be because the new anisotropic filter .cfg line in U1 defaults to maximum available if you don’t change. Maybe he prefers to have it at the video card configuration level instead of the .cfg.

Post #37 re: Vertex lighting brought a clear improvement. I hadn’t thought of that.

I had like 100fps limited to a fixed 60 with vsync on in 4.33. In the U1 i had bad performance in cockpit although the FPS meter shows 60, it’s clearly less and not steady.
I found that by using display extracion and running the game in borderless windowed mode, i get the same smooth performances that i had with 4.33 and also better antialias results.
Just my 2 cents.

Folks,
I had previously said I was getting an FPS hit, and while it is generally true, I had to start fresh with all the settings and see what worked better. I made many changes.
Even though my FPS was high enough for the human eye’s/brain’s comprehension, pushing to the 3x27" monitors in 5760x1080 was still not smooth AT ALL. It gave me the perception of a slower frame rate, even though it was still above 30FPS, and I was definitely missing some frames. It wasn’t the bad stuttering I used to have with my GTX660Ti, but it wasn’t smooth. I have read others had similar issues with similar hardware setups (3 spanned monitors).
After a few hour’s work, here’s a configuration that’s working for me in both versions. Keep in mind I’m SLI’d (and I know F-BMS doesn’t support SLI, but the AF2 helps), with the hardware setup in my signature below, and software setup here:
BMS Graphics U/I Setup:
- 5760x1080, 60Hz
- Multisampling on, Quality Level 3
- Vertical Sync OFF (setting this to off helped me a lot to smooth out the view)
- Canopy Cues: BOTH
- Object density and detail full up
- HDR bloom and blur off
- Tree/Grass Density: Default recommended settings
BMS Advanced Graphcs Settings:
- All on.
BMS Configuration Setup:
- See attached.
NVIDIA Inspector Settings:
- See attached.
BMS Config File Anisotropic Line:
- set g_nAnisotropicValue 0
Getting 60FPS consistently over land and at airfields, with pegging at 110 FPS during night or overwater operations, all running very smoothly. FRAPS will halve my FPS when recording.
Hope it helps somebody with a similar configuration.

For whatever reason I’m getting higher and smoother frame rates at higher graphical settings (i.e. maxed autogen trees) in BMS 4.33 U1 than in BMS 4.33 or 4.32, for that matter. So… thank you BMS Team for that!

+1
Congratz again for doing outstanding work!

Last week I have tested and compared several settings, and I have found that enabling ‘override’ anti-aliasing from nvidia control panel drops more FPS than enabling it from BMS UI or applying ‘enhance’ AA from nvidia control panel.
I loved to see both RECON and LOADOUT screens anti aliased well, but I may have to quit ‘override’ setting if I want more frame rates when I fly.

Yep,
BMS has it’s own AA and AF settings. I find that the GFX card does a better job of AA and AF without sacrificing FPS. I would suggest doing everything one way or the other. I disable all AA and AF in bms. I set AA to 8x (I can go to 16xAA but there is little to no improvement). And, I set AF to 16x on my GFX card. Everything turned up in bms except for those features works very well.

Falcon BMS Cfg, change the setting to “0” see the sample here
set g_bExportRTTTextures 0Why?
In testing that option had no discernable impact on framerate, which is why it’s now on by default.
BMS Manual p243 if you want to know what it actually does.
