Sukhoï Su-7

Hello,
What’s next after Kuznetsov, J-7G and J-8I?
Something nice to enhance DPRK camp… And do you know what? Its still on the real North Korean Air Force order of battle in real life…
But for now, priority is J-7G, J-8I and Kuznetsov. (I have some issues with the export process, all LODs are perfect, but there is a mandatory phase of exporting which still makes problem in the case of J-7G. I think it’s due to units setup. I never encountered this before. I keep searching.
I expect to make North Korean, Syrian and Russian texture (retired in 1990 for Syrian and Russian Air Force). But the model is in DB, and for those who like to play 90’s scenarios. Nevertheless, as KPAF still use it, it’s then worth making it for KTO and ITO.
For Kuznetsov, I have to implement some special stuff to make my IFOLS working nicely. I might also redo some stuff I am not happy with. This shall not be long. For now, I have with Kuznetsov a ptype issue. But I know how to fix it.
I also have to finish texturing of Mirage F1.
Some might wonder why I start so many projects. In fact, they evolve side by side. Making the 3D model mesh is the funiest part of making 3D models for BMS. Unwrapping, texturing, animating, exporting can be really boring. Basically, I make 3D models for BMS just for fun. Its just entertainement, when I am on the phone, or when I dont want to go out or play some single player games on computer. The rest may be really really painful!
Best regards,
Radium

I hope you know this! (I am a big fan of these series)!

Great stuff as usual by you, Radium.

“Indeed”, indeed! Any chance of releasing a .lod version of any of your work that we could put in FF (for us holdouts against the inevitable)?
PS. Su-7 is an excellent choice, IMO.

hello,
what is FF? Do you mean Free Falcon? If so, I can’t and don’t want to make it. As a BMS dev, this would be extremely inappropriate for me to do so, my team is BMS, BMS must be the one to get my files first.
Thank you nevertheless for your kind comments,
Radium

… not a problem of team fidelity Radium. There is no competition between FF and BMS. You can do it if you wish. But it would just be a pure lost of time. Way better devote the precious time to you curent other WIP.

But this makes a problem with my very own philosophy of fidelity!

agreed. way too much WIP at the same time and in the end nothing ever gets finished ….

Is that a direct critic about my working policy?

I’d call it a constructive comment as I believe they are useful.

Hello,
About my 3D work, why do I do this? because I learn. I am far from knowing everything in 3D, and, I do these modeling job for pure entertainement.
To be honest, I never play BMS. I almost never played BMS. My passion is 3D modeling.
When you do your handbooks, you probably work chapter after chapter right? You probably like to improve some stuff after reading back your job? I do the same. But with 3D, you can’t just erase and restart. Things need to be done in a proper direction.
Am I too hard with myself? Probably. I am an artist. I please myself first, then, I offer it. This is the reason I do this. Just to give you an example : one kind guy of this forum helped me to find some infos about J-8 landing lights. I implemented on J-8 this technology. Then, I also implemented on J-7G. Then, It gave me some ideas to improve Mirage F1, and, while Hayab explained me some stuff about it (ptypes), I also decided to make a revision on almost all of my models, to make something more accurate. I work like so.
I don’t see F-2A, J-7, J-8, Shirane, Kuznetsov as different projects. They are my project. They evolve together.
Then, as an example I am encountering troubles with J-7G and J-8I parents configuration. Models and LODs are 100% done. Nothing is missing. I spent hours trying to solve this issue. I suppose this is a unit configuration issue. Then I got tired with it. I needed to refresh myself, then, I made a 3D mesh of Su-7, because it is fun.
People might watch stuff on TV or funny pictures on imgur to entertain and refresh. I make 3D models to refresh. This is just a game for me, done on my free time, offered for free to everybody.
A Piano professor friend of mine who teaches in Berlin told me some years ago : I play music for myself. If I play for audience, music quality won’t be satisfying. I only please audience, when I fully please myself first : because it means it was the best I could give.
I want to give the best to the people who like my work.
And I am honoured to receive so many thanks my enthusiasts.
Thank you to all who like my work.
Your servant,
Radium

Yeah man, That’s the spirit !

Putting all the eggs in the same bag and calling it constructive comment is not really usefull, but as someone said before, what one believes is … well, it is only what one believes.
It is not like Radium is starting a project and does not finish it, he has a method and a very constructive way to go forward with his work.
Keep going Radium.

This morning and begining of the afternoon was Sukhoi Su-7 time, now, time to go back to Mirage F1!

Well, don’t worry… there is plenty of stuff to do before, you have much time to think about it!!!
By the way, I’d like to make a poll there, to make you all participate in the project.
I will make 3 textures for that bird.
- One Russian CCCP,
- One North Korean
- One Syrian.
For Syrian and North Korean, There is not much choice, so, I’ll take care myself.
For Russian/CCCP, I’d like to offer you the right to decide which one I’ll do, assuming I want to make a camo tecture (no bare metal). I found many many Russian styles for Su-7 camoflage, so, let’s propose what you like, I’ll chose the one I’ll do from your proposals! I’ll choose from yours.
Regards,
Radium

Hello,
This morning, I had some free time, I then decided to improve Su-7 model. Two days ago, I also made all the gears.
I addeed the intake protection, to make some more realism. It will disappear with the first engine startup action.
Tonight, I want to close J-7G and J-8I chapter, and find were my latest issues are coming from…
Cheers,
Radium
