OF mods: JanHas, realism patch?

HAHAHAHAH
-
It’s been a while but after hammering hard at the main gear model I can now say the heavy weight gear for the block 40->52 is FINALLY done. It’s a monster…! I’m pleased with the result. All parts use one 4096 size skin. Next is finishing the skin of the F-16 and thinking what block I should finish first. Either the RNLAF, which would require some tweaks to the gears or the block 52C. The 52 will require some tweaking of the parts behind the seat and the engine… If no real issues arise a finished LOD1 model can be ready between 4 and 8 weeks… While I’m skinning the last parts of the outer skins you can hopefully enjoy the screenshots…
(Don’t ask me about poly count… you don’t want to know…) -
What a piece of work! … ( however, maybe not for any PC configuration (?) )
Nice to see you back JanHas!

HAha, never left. I’s just deep in the cave working on the model.
- That unfinished D model is also being tested to see how it behaves in the sim with a “slightly above average” pc and so far it shows no real fps hit.
- I will put the all gear and wheel bay parts in a switch so when the doors are closed the parts are not there. I hope it will improve the fps even more. No 4096 size skin and poly’s to load until it’s time to be shown.
- All models engine’s (P&W blue/black and GE) will use the same single texture so now matter how many different blocks are seen it will still use the same texture. The model will use a total of 7 textures.
- ALL poly types are sorted and subtrees are limited where possible to the sim can load large chunks of the same poly’s.

Delicious, very delicious….:woohoo:

AN UPDATE!!

I’m done with creating the parts for the block 52C model. MLU cockpit parts are swapped for block 52 parts. I added the USAF ladder (upgraded model from the one’s present in the Ground Support Equipment) and added a better version of the tail I created for the F-16D. I also added an improved afterburner flame and the 229 engine feathers. Next thing to do is fixing the outer skin. It still has the D skin… I’m also thinking of adding a better helmet too, I have a better model on the shelf but it requires some additional tweaking. Would require about a week to finish it. I still have not added the separate main gear model because adding that would hamper working on the model in LE too much…
