ANT ELEV knob pot??
-
The Digi-Key part number, I mean…
-
Manufactured by CTS Cross reference with Digikey. You can call them.
CTS 270XM8508

Hello,
I’m also looking for an Antenna pot, but I can’t seem to find one and TM’s customer support doesn’t answer my messages. Any idea?
Thanks a lot -
You could try one of these -
Although, you can often find CTS 270XM8508 pots on E-bay, but usually in bulk - like quantities of 25 or more, at around 15 cents US or less each. Keep watch.
-
If I ever saw such a deal I would happily buy 50 at least and make available. Surprised nobody has with the item being such a problem for many. A past look on the makers site suggested it was a discontinued part number.
-
If you do a Google search on the P/N you can find places that are still offering them on an RFQ…but I still think E-bay in lots of NOS is the best source. But you have to be patient and keep watch.
I bought a bag of them some years ago, but I’ve found usages for the quantity I bought outside of my three Cougar TQSs - all three of which needed their ANT ELEV pots replaced, both to reduce spiking and to get better center detent feel.
-
By the way, I contacted TM and they said they don’t have those pots and they told me they would give me a discount on a new Warthog. So, I will try your eBay suggestion. I do like the Warthog, but spending such an amount of money for something that doesn’t resemble the F-16’s isn’t in my books…
-
Nice! Get the Warthog stick only, and a TUSBA R2 for your Cougar TQS. The Warthog stick is a VAST improvement over the Cougar - real MIL buttons in the grip. I have one, and am probably going to buy a second one.

Hi guys,
I’ll hijack this thread as my Ant pot broke down few days ago. TS support told me that they run out of stock of Ant pots. They also could not disclose any technical information about pot used. From what I’ve heard it should be 100 kOhm, 5 VDC, linear pot. Can anyone confirm this for sure?
I’ve searched for something with similar size, etc and found this: http://eu.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=Ivs1Be2ZGq6BrJBXLYE2Gg== Do you think it could be considered as replacement, maybe with some modification to the shaft or with use of this 3d printed knob if original one would be incompatible? Thanks,
OG -
Also looking for the same Ant pot . Please let me know if you find anything. Thanks

OG…knowing that the part number is 270XM8508 and the OEM is CTS, it should be a small thing to dig up the manufacture’s spec sheet for this part without any help from TM.
However - I should think the Bourns pot you found would work just fine - the only issue being that the shaft may be too long or too short. Which you could easily fix. I’ve also been looking at the 3D printed parts you found - I think they would be an excellent upgrade and will probably grab some of those myself…I have a 3D printed replacement for the DMS switch that will work for either the Cougar or Warthog stick, with the correct F-16 cap -

Was easy to find on EBay. Bought a few for backup repairs, now that TM doesn’t supply them.
Any equivalents for the range potentiometer with push switch? (CTS 270S1800)
TM needs to get off their butts and make a new full hall sensored USB TQS.

Could you please share the link? Not so easy to find…

Hi mrwell
Just stumbled over this thread… Don’t know if you’ve found it, but I guess this is the link:Best Regards
ZoomOut;) -
Thank you very much. I couldn’t find it

But it’s 10 kOhms, shouldn’t it be 100? The Bourns one I posted earlier (http://pl.mouser.com/Search/ProductDetail.aspx?qs=Ivs1Be2ZGq6BrJBXLYE2Gg%3d%3d) works very well. I needed to file it’s pcb a bit (it was too big) but after that it works great. And has very nice, very hard center detent.

Guess you’re right og_wolf. My bad:roll:

Does anyone have a readme for removing the ANT pot?
Edit: nevermind, sorted it Cheers

Now that we have a viable source for the Antenna pot, real challenge is finding a replacement Range pot/switch started combo. Rarer then hens teeth?
