Balkans Theater of Operation for BMS 4.33 U5
-
Hey Cougar,
First of all, thank you for the great job done on this theater.
There is only one thing bugging me: specific tower voices. For my taste, I prefer not having a tower callsign, than having a different voice from the rest of the message. Is there a way to disable this? Maybe deleting some specific files?
Cheers! -

Cheers!Hi there.
Well you can do that as below:
Go to this folder: …\Falcon BMS 4.33_U1\Data\Add-On Balkans\Campaign.
Into “Campaign” folder, there is a file "“stations+ils.dat”. Open it with “Notepad”.
Now you can see 2 types of lines, some that start with an “#” and some that start with a number.
Ignore the lines that start with an “#”.
All the rest lines have this type of 12 data and each one following by a space, some examples below:
1001 003 Y 0 0 1 284650 134100 10950 0 0 0
565 079 X 6 200 1 386875 118100 0 0 10950 0
522 045 X 999 40 1 308775 120500 10990 0 0 0Now check every line (that starts with a number) and IF its 4th number is not the “999”, then simply change it to this, means to “999”. Be sure to leave a space " " before and after that number, as already has.
In the previous 3 examples, only the first 2 lines need a change. The 3rd one is correct.
That’s all, now hit to “Save” in “Notepad” and exit of it.
You are good to go ;).

You lucky one…

and here (post #164): https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?12435-Balkans-Theatre-IAP-charts&p=392664&viewfull=1#post392664
With the new update of Balkans, new Cervia airbase and its airport diagram should be included ;).

Nice. I hope to not parked on apron F via TWY V…
The good news are that Amendola will have a TACAN approach chart to RWY 29, just after I have my new graphics card and help the POH theater with its NavAids…
Enjoy the new nice Balkans dear friend. More good stuff on the way, like Cervia, Istrana and Pescara NEW airports by Master “nove”.

Great! Anything about Trapani?
Also: I have noticed a huge difference in textures between Balkans and Korea. They look a lot more “tiled” on Balkans… what is it due to? Just wondering. -

I will contact “nove” and see together the next airbases that should be take care. You will be informed for sure.
About tiles, can you post a photo in order to be more specific with they look more tiled?

Hi Cougar,
Yesterday did a TASMO mission with F18 on a nearby OSAII and locked up the target, when I requested AWACS to declare it told me ‘a bogey’.
But after firing my missile, i was warned that its on ‘our side’. Did the same sequence another time and again same.
In the debriefing all was fine, no court marshalling, and it had been an Yugoslavian OSAII
Could this perhaps be a enemy-foe flag for this unit that is not set correctly yet?Cheers Obi1
-
I think I recall something about i that being an issue in Korea too. I’ll take a look at it but it won’t be until after I finish Istrana.
-
A bogey can be friend or foe -> simply unknown! This is everywhere the same, Obi…
-
Happened to me also, but I found out when I request a second declare Awacs replies freindly. So when I’m BVR and not under immediate threat i always request a second time.

Correct, unknown identity for bogey.
Bandit/Hostile is for sure an enemy aircraft.
Nikos. -
Guys, I knew already that bogey is not always enemy in the end, so I was already extra carefull;-)
The problem though was that I actually hit an enemy ship but got shouted at me for shooting at friendly. But the debriefing clearly stated all was okay, the ship was indeed enemy.
Maybe the BMS code still counted my last Air to Air lock that was on a indeed on a friendly plane, although after that I locked the OSAII in sea mode radar before declaring and shooting.
But thats just guessing.Cheers Obi1

It may have been UI chatter at another flight or one of your wingies??

No, the shouting was really directed at me, because I did the same sequence of ‘declare- then shoot 1 missile’ twice with interval, both times I got shouted at immediately as I triggered the missile.
Could it have anything to do with flying as wingman as I did that flight perhaps?Cheers Obi1
-
Hard to tell then, maybe something locked then unlocked a friendly and the code caught it late and thus the yell at you??
