Test low-poly toys in BMS4..

lightenings look great.
for british AAMs, check ccc_lod_all.zip, 0-AMMO folder, there’re Firestreak and Redtop missile lods.

Indeed, last of the British Hot-Jets. Note: the mesh is the F.53 from the ITO theater. Question: proper method to convert .DXM to .lod? Need to edit texture-sets. If I use the converter in LE6.23 to .lod and back to .dxm, AB flame loses texture (black) and windscreen portion of canopy loses transparency (look closely at prev pix).
LE was not good for conversion from DXM to LOD and back to DXM. Lots of bugs. Parts got busted and you had to clean things up. The more ploys and complex DOF the less able. The best conversion was use a total DB re-build and if any model wasn’t perfect the build quit - so lots of fun there. Tranparency/alpha channels were big issue, ergo canopy and afterburners. I adapted Qawa’s afterburners for a lot of FF Models, but could only be done in DXEdit after model conversion. Canopy was easily selected in DXEdit and reset to clear, only took a few seconds usually. By the way, Ito2 contained many hidden models, a little digging and you can find many toys, very easy to hide to public, but allowed me to run beta for new stuff or personal stuff at same time as public release.

Indeed, I esp. liked your IAF RF-4 with the IFRP and the modded wing HP’s. Is there a way to change the texture-sets of a .dxm in LE? I’ve tried int he past, and they don’t seem to save (reopen after change/save as and original texture list restored). If I could figure-out how to do that it wouldn’t be necessary to convert to .lod.

I don’t honestly recall, sorry. It has been a while. What I do recall is having to juggle between LOD and DXM. So, switching back and forth between the two was pretty common, especially during workup of CCC’s low poly models - lots of little tweaks. I think you have to have build your set plan in LOD/LODEditor. The back and forth steps don’t really take that much time once you do it enough times. That is Falcon deving

Nice skin (never seen before)

I never get tired of seeing these cool models posted up showing lots of interesting possibilities. A lot of these low poly models are severely underated for two reasons; 1) they can form the basis of a very interesting early development of a theater, 2) many of these models, with a great skin, can look rather impressive and give a lot of enjoyment if you can resist the temptation to inspect rivets.

Indeed, vis the ITO Mirages: quite nice in those skins, though they all could use a little improvement around the nozzle area, IMHO (I’m just an ass-man, I guess).

and ya, great memories working on peru-chile theater… Twister also invested lots time and effort on it… terrain and 3d DB are roughly done and we simply can’t figure out a working campaign.
Well, if you ever do, give me a call. I’d be more than happy to contribute.

Agreed. One of my unrealized goals for ITO2 was to obtain a high poly model set for the Mirages. If we could have obtained just one, like the Mirage IIICZ, I think we could have come up with some really kicking stuff. For me, having a few high-poly center piece models for each campaign is the way to build - then use the low poly stuff for nearly everything else. This cuts the development time by quite a bit and what we did for ITO2, even though it still took 6 years. However, it might never have come out if I had insisted on waiting for all high-poly models to replace ccc’s stuff. Instead, we could roll thru thing rather quickly, have a lot of enjoyment and leave the door open for later improvement.

Btw, how do you replace the shadow?

Btw, how do you replace the shadow?
in LE, select the ac CT, in parent section, ac model lods located in [Normal] parent. ac shadow lod located in [Repaired] parent. press [Repaired] button to enter shadow lod edit page.

dust off a 10-year-old toy, put in BMS for fun.
