Multiplayer and Skype.

Hello Forum
A friend and I plan to fly online, only the two of us.
Rather than using IVC or Team Speak, we are going to use Skype. My question, when setting up MP as either host or client, can we leave blank and unchecked all the IVC areas in the Comms screen?
IE IVC Enabled
IVC Automatic Gain Control
Dedicated IVC ServerThanks,
Bayonet.

Maybe not the best idea, I figured that Skype use a lot of BW.
But yes, just uncheck the IVC tickbox in the UI Comms screen. -
I’ve found the Skype isn’t very good with on-line games. It tries to hog a large amount of band width and resources on the machine. It’ll then, usually at a really bad time, decide to change it’s codec to reduce the band width it needs and comms at that point get garbled.
You would be a lot better using something like Team Speak or Discord that play nicer with other on-line programs or better still using the inbuilt IVC comms of BMS.

+1 again for Teamspeak… or just IVC.

Is there any particular reason why people would prefer Team Speak over IVC?

they are both the same thing really IVC uses TS SDK only difference in simplified terms is IVC is more integrated into the sim where the TS is not

Another option to consider is Discord. It’s very similar to teamspeak but allows users to create free servers rather than paying for hosting services. I’m in no way affiliated with Discord… just started using it myself.

Presumably one is that pure team speak communication would not suffer the distance fade and other degradation of (realistic) IVC. Also makes private communication more secure for flights where needed.

We use discord for briefings and IVC in game. Not using IVC is a shame.

Also, IVC function would depend on your in-game radio settings whereas TS would not. In other words, you have to have your radios turned on and in the correct freq to talk on IVC but this is all ignored on TS.
