F-15E and the AIM 9X

If I recall the USAF F-15E is not capable of using the Aim 9X as of yet. Should this reflect in the sim?

According to an F-15E pilot friend of my….yes and no. It depends on the aircraft suite.

Okay. My F-15E backseat guy stated that operationally they (his squadron) haven’t been using it. He said that they have been training simulating 9M parameters. Also it seems like operational F-15E’s involved with Inherent Resolve are not using the 9X but have been carry the 9M: http://www.combataircraft.net/2017/06/30/incredible-new-inherent-resolve-images/ .

The 9X has never been carried into combat on the E, we’ve always carried the mike. Between the stateside and OCONUS bases, the E model is in the process of seeing a lot of big upgrades. The original 9X has been around for a bit, and I would honestly believe it to become a legacy missile before long. If I were a betting man, I would think that the E will see the updates about the time the block II version of the 9X starts hitting the operational units.

Thank you Rainmaker…Which brings me back to my point, in the name of “realism” should the 'X" be available on the E in the sim?
-
To this point I would say no. The only guys that “might” be carrying it would be the OT guys out at Nellis, and that would probably be a stretch.

Rainmaker, the 15E was suppose to start getting the AN/APG-82V1 in 2014. Is this part of the upgrade you mentioned and has the conversion started to happen?

The last mod I remember starting on time was FDL, and that was in late 2001 and was a rush deal due to 9/11. With that being said, the V1 mods are in progress. I don’t really have an answer to your question on the timeline, I can only speculate like most here. I would image it’s more of a software upgrade than a hardware. All comes down a lot of times to money. The OT guys are usually flying suites a couple versions ahead of what the operational units are, and I never saw even the folks out at Nellis carrying the 9X. Between both the OT and weapons school being out there, they would be the first to see them. They have had the V1 package for a good while now, as well as JHMCS so I doubt that’s a key factor.

Isn’t than an E? I don’t know their sq’s based on tailart.
EDIT:
Nop, I’ve found it, its Republic of Singapore.

Thats a RSAF (Saudi) F-15.

Yep, you are right, it is Singapore! There are some pics of USAF F-15’s carrying the AIM-9X on Google but they are all from Test or Evaluation squadrons (at least the ones I found). I have loads of my own pics from Lakenheath F-15E’s, all with the older models though.
