So with the model comes an excellent paintkit I did some experiments and i made a well known (at least to scale modellers) Desert Storm Camo (sorry Raptor. I need some reference first to greek Camo ) and one of my favorites as well, I had this camo patern anyway in one of scale models i made before so it was quite easy to represent it.I might make another one when i finish unwrapping for VA-15 (i think) Valions witch is another favorite. I did some research for the markings and stuff and made the others. so partially textured it looks like this :
-
sorry Raptor
For what? lol
This skin was the 1st of my 5 in total bird models! Good old times…
-
Unwraping is done…. so now i will start dofing/switching it slowly… By the way the low vis formation lights in the scale models usually are orange.1st Are they? 2nd Are they dimable as Phantom or Av8 and other airplanes?

Awesome work
-
Looks good!
How many tris is that?
-
68k. But i can work it to be around 35-36k

I do like this one too much, dear Manos, until its colors! I would have one at my hands, really!
So in Desert Storm did they make the script visible in each wing? … Interesting.
Keep on!
With best regards,

Here is the real one :
EDIT… comparing the photos i think i have to make a bit smaller the seat in height at least or make the pilot bigger

Thanks for the nice shots, Manos!
And yes, IMHO I too think you’re right…
With best regards,

it didn’t flew during DS, it was painted like that for the return trip of the carrier
both squadrons painted one airframe for the special celebrations coming home after victory -

Still because (As Raptor’s as well) was one of my favorite themes i thought it would be cool to use it :). I will definatelly do a VA-15 late paintscheme (Low Vis) witch its another one i like. I have 2 1/48 ones the first one wear the VA-15 skin and the other i transform it to an Greek -H

First in game dof tests… only the basic dofs i made for now. I have to make the “glass” verts double sided…
-
Nice Corsair Manos, Good work

Nice Corsair Manos, Good work
I have a problem. Even though i used the material i use for the canopies in my other models as well In game They appear (when i use ptype 17) invisible and when i convert to 25 it has only the slight glossines u see in the pics above even when i make the material doublesided… Im confused right now… I will see maybe i made a mistake or whatever. I will import the original canopy/lights etc to see…

I was out of the internet for a while and I see a lot of progress !!
This Corsair II has an excellent rendering and the unusual camo has a really good looking. CongratulationsComing back on the spoiler law (guess it’s too late ) :
Spoilers provide better roll authority in automatically helping ailerons (Same option than the one chosen by LTV on the F-8Spoiler deflection law is 2,6° for every 2°30’’ of aileron moving above the trim position
Meaning that when trim is on a neutral roll position, left spoiler starts his deflection when left aileron deflects more than 2,6° then, spoiler deflection runs proportionnally to the aileron moving (approx. 2,6° more for every additional degree).
All that dance within the following limits :
Max aileron deflection +/- 16°
Max spoiler deflection + 36°
Source : A-7 flight manualThat could explain the fact that we rarely see spoilers moving on videos.
- At high speed, aileron deflection could often be below 2,6° (not enough to trigger spoilers)
- At low speed, aileron moving needed is higher so we should see spoiler moving but the high angle of attack is often a mask that makes the upper part of the wing hidden…:?

Sorry I have no skill in programming I don’t see how to declare an item in the dat file…But I guess we have some data experts around that could help.
I would say the more you do it simple the best it would be (A unique spoiler deflection trigered above a roll rate value ?) -

I see it ok m8.
Ptype 25 is correct. Double sided as you say not correct.
Maybe Alpha channel and opacity level. In general JUST WOW M8. looks awesome. Well done. Superb work.
Respect.
