GFX problem after switching from 980GTX to 1080TI - "Ghost trees"
-
The trees are auto-gen so yes, at your altitude and zoom level (unrealistic) you will see the trees fade in. This would be considered normal IMO.
Zoom back out and it is not as noticeable. You may see it better now due to your upgraded GPU.

thanks again for your input guys. so this is normal bms behaviour, since u say trees are auto-gen, meaning they pop into sight as you close in on them? don’t ask me why, it just felt different from my memory with the old card.
I only used the zoom level to better see what’s going on regarding the graphics, but u can definately notice the trees being generated at a certain distance also without zoom.thanks again,
boba

If your picture is sharper w/ the new card, then it is probably just more noticeable to you. Auto-gen trees were new since release of 4.33. They weren’t implemented in earlier versions. At any rate, I wouldn’t waste the time to put the old card back in.
I just meant you wouldn’t use that level of zoom in flight. Shouldn’t be as obvious at normal FOV, but in certain flight profiles, you will see it better, as in the dive angle you had in the vid. When flying low (NOE), you won’t see it as much.

Tested this as well, GPU is a GTX 980Ti, and I get it both at the zoomed-in view and in my normal view. The trees on the plains are not too blatant with their “ghosting” but the trees that appear on the ridges of the hills can get quite obvious. I’ve never noticed this before but as BlueRaven said, we don’t really look at the trees when we’re in flight.
So I guess we’ll chalk this up to “normal behavior” for BMS?

Hi, to be honest I am unable to get something really strange in the video, but I trust you when you say that it’s now different from what it used to be with your 980.
First thing you can try is to delete the dx9display.dsp from your User\Config folder (don’t worry, BMS will regenerate it) and see if it helps.BlueRaven you don’t see it?!!!
Strangest artifact I ever saw. Seems to be kinda stuck on the gun cross…

Thanks man, I was concentrated on seeing the trees issue and didn’t notice it… hey, I hope some tree will autogen in time to soften his fall!
OK, OK, back to seriousness now… it’s a well known Windows cursor interference, I bet boba is running in maximized borderless window, ALT+TABbed to desktop/another application and went back to BMS.
To get rid of it just press CTRL+ALT+DELETE followed by ESC. -
Yes Autogen trees will fade in and out with distance. Maybe later it will be set as a setting for user to increase that distance, but for now it is constant. This is normal BMS behavior.
