Some glimpse about folding wings system!

Very good news. I wish good luck and success.

Nicely done Radium. Keep it up

Don’t make them too pretty, it would be a shame to shoot down a beautiful bird…
New era in Russians approaching! Keep on the spirit!

I wish you all the best.
I made a request for an improved SU 27 Family back in the beginning of 2012. https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?8453-Su-flight-model-please&p=104724&viewfull=1#post104724
And then spent the next 3 years trying to improve the situation myself with some success. I was amazed at what little help I was offered by those that could have.
But I had a lot of fun doing it. Pity it all came to naught.
Regards.

I just went through that topic, it made for some insightful reading!

Without proper documentations that we still don’t have , nothing can be made
You may try reverse engineering of DCS su27 afm though
-
Hi there , what documentation you need ? I may try look for some stuff , i have few friends which love SU-27 and they have virtual squadron in Lock On FC1 - 3 and they are best virtual pilots on SU-27 .

Accel capabilities for MIL and AB
decel capabilities in IDLE and SB
EM charts for MIL and AB , for at least 5 different altitudes with clear indication about GW and DI
Roll rate chartsLook into the HFFM manual , we need all those curves
that would be a start
-
In the past there was a member that posted some of those charts and also translated some of them.
I believe Mav-jp exchanged some posts and was very interested in his info. At least he posted many many times, one of the rare ones you see him post so frequently. -
OSD ( member forum ), may be ?…
-
dont look for them you wont find them as they dont exist…
The best would be to ask DCS to copy their FM values (at least CL/ CD / thrust)
Would they allow it ?

Would they allow it ?
Why not?! … Unless they’ve forgotten where their M2000 perfo comes from?

what about their AI F16 ?
What format are the DCS FM files ?

Can you show some unsmoothed wire pics? Do you use smooth or subd or just smooting grups?

Hello,
Still so much work to accomplish to bring the mesh ready to be unwrapped. I didn’t thought this aircraft was so complex. I had, to make her as perfect as I could, check an old 1/72 model I did to understand exactly every angle of the aircraft.
I really involve myself in this model, as it is a major work for REDFOR in BMS.
Here is my latest WIP :
Repvez, I am sorry, I do not wish to share for now my wire for now. Mostly because nothing is optimized, it wouldn’t be relevant.
I always make model first, then, optiize after, once angles give me satisfaction.
Best regards,
Radium

Nice work!cant wait see more PLAAF fighters,such as:j10 abc,jf17,jh7,j20…

Thank you CFCN!
J-20 and J-10 are on my todo list…
But also, I have to finish F-2A with her cockpit, and Mitsubishi F-1…

No problem, I just wanted to see how to create the base mesh so accurately. I just wanted learn from it.
unfortunately, If I create a low poly model some part won’t to be sharp which is should be and other won’t to be curved just flat plane. -
No problem, I just wanted to see how to create the base mesh so accurately. I just wanted learn from it.
unfortunately, If I create a low poly model some part won’t to be sharp which is should be and other won’t to be curved just flat plane.Hello,
To tell the truth, here is how I proceed.
Most of the time, I start a model After a long period of research. I need to feel the model, before starting it. Once I felt enough that I have all the curves of the aircraft in my brain, I initiate my model by a simple part, like the nose. Then, I work by small step, parts by parts. Later, I make integration. It is a good way to ensire that no mistake is done.
But one of the secret I use, is staring at my model in every angle, to try to find if it looks ok, compared to the references I have.
I might surprise you, but I almost don’t use blueprints. They are most of the time mistaken, and not accurate. Then, they lead to major issues in the model that can’t be solved later.
I also try to cross as much as I can my references, to be accurate. One source is not enough. Many sources are needed to find the good shape, especially with complex shapes like Sukhoi Su-27 series.
I am also lucky to have good friends in BMS dev team, like Dee-Jay, Topolo, Switch, Mav-JP, Eghi, Hayab, Lazystone and Badboy.
We are a very nice team, and, they are a great help, as I am really opened to critics.
Finally, I do not work on quads, but only on triangles. It gives me much more flexibility to work like that. Many people wonder by I do like that. But it’s by way.
As you requested it, here is a glimpse of the aircraft back. Many will find is weird. But it’s how I do.
Best regards,
Radium
