SDB's not firing!
-
Hello,
I am having a little trouble when using SDB’s GBU39. After I have set the coordinates for various targets (during ground preparations), I select a steerpoint in Korea, I am locking the target, I see the object in my TGP, but the weapon will not fire!
Regardless the distance I am the weapon will not release. I am trying to target lock using the TGP or the FCR and still I have no release. Can you help? -
Hello,

Regardless the distance I am the weapon will not release. I am trying to target lock using the TGP or the FCR and still I have no release. Can you help? What was your airspeed? Beware that you need to be flying faster than M0.6 in order to drop JDAM-like weapons like SDB’s. Check the -34 manual (the “note” on pp. 200) for other release limitations.
-
Maybe post a screenshot of what your HUD and pit looks like at the moment you are trying to release? Might give us some clues as to what’s wrong.
-
in my experience you have to really hold the button
i’m not sure if the pickle hold for SDB is longer than normal, but it certainly seems like it whenever i release the things.
-
Hmmm, maybe, I will have a check o n this! Thank you
-
Thank you, I will let you know when I try this again.

If you don’t have JIZ> within the DLZ bracket, it won’t launch. JIZ> disappears if your speed is too low. I would say speed is most likely.
I believe the pickle time for JDAMs is 1.5 seconds.
EDIT: Pickle >1.6 seconds for single and >3.2 seconds for ripple (which doesn’t really apply to SDBs).
-
Why not? You can ripple them.
-
I know you can. Just my opinion, but rippling off a munition that is designed for super precise attacks with little collateral damage is kind of counter intuitive. If I was going to ripple JDAMs, say at a fuel tank farm or along a runway, I would send something much more hefty.
-
But you can ripple on multiple targets in the Sufa for example.
-
Yes, ripple on specific targets, not just dispatched on a line.

After all, it was the speed……the SDB’s are releasing! Thank you all!
