-Ice's Falcon BMS Helios Profile Updated… Again!

24 is perfect

Hello Ice,
I am looking at your helios profile -“Ices HOT_BMS 4 v4.21S.zip” that you released back in October. Is there a button on this profile that triggers the Hot Start after the plane has been loaded at the Ramp Start level? Just checking what the procedure is.
I can see all the buttons in the position you describe in your post #222, but it doesn’t correspond to what is in the 3D-Cockpit, and I have to start the engine and systems from scratch.
Thanks a lot, always a fan of what you have made available.Johan

Try check YAME. you will love it http://www.yame64.com

Does anyone have an updated version of Ice’s YAME layout that will work with YAME 1.2 or the latest edition. I’m having issues getting a new profile to work correctly with his 16s Helios profile. Thanks
-
Never mind, I used the block 50 YAME profile and changed the coordinates.
-
Ice, loving this profile, thank you very much.
I cannot get the chart fix to work at all no matter how many times I try. Also, the push-to-zoom map doesn’t work either. Can you offer any suggestions? Thanks, and best regards!

Hi Ice,
I’m using your helios profile for one screen a long time, and it’s great. Now I want to use the profile for two screens and I have a question, Can I resize the sencond screen to use an Ipad?
Thanks!
-
And another thing; UHF digital display disappears when rotary dials are activated. I am too much of a Helios noob to figure out why; any ideas?

I’m not sure what you mean by HOT start. You meantioned starting the jet from cold once you load in to the pit. If that is the case you simply perform a standard ramp start. If you’re using the latest release, everything you need to start the jet is there. I never touch the keyboard in mission. Occasionally I will use the mouse but rarely.
What stick are you using? If you have a Warthog go into hardware config and check the idle-cutoff box. This allows you to simply cycle the throttle from the cutoff position to the idle position when the RPM hits 20% and it will keep spooling up.
Unfortunately, I’m now not sure if Ice is coming back which would truly suck balls. If that didn’t answer your question let me know and I’ll help if I can. I don’t create my own Helios profiles but I’m a master at making Ice’s work! -
Wicked, I went past Goose’s" grave Saturday after a service for a friend. Seeing that you still have one of “his girls” is still a nice touch.

Wicked, could you help me with my Ice Profile questions? Maps don’t work, even after the Monitor 1 - Monitor 2 fix. And, UHF radio digits disappear when turning rotary dials.
I have done some very basic Helios profile tweaks before, but these issues have be stumped.
Best regards,

The map is part of YAME and not Helios. You will need to make sure it has the right coordinates for your second monitor. If you are using the CPD the Map will need to be at the coordinates inside the CPD bezel to show up. That is on the 16S profile, so if you are using a different one I would switch to the latest profile. As far as the UHF radio issue I’ll have to see if mine is doing the same thing. I know that my backup TACAN rotary’s have to be changed in the jet and don’t work with the profile. However, I’m sure if that is a keyboard issue or Helios. I’ll check now.

Unfortunately I haven’t resized her so only part shows. I still have the other he made for me after Texas won the Rose Bowl as well. I was lucky to get one from him. They were rare…

Wicked, thanks for checking.
I am using Ice’s BMS 4.33 v4.21s profile. I think that is the latest one from the blog. I saw Ice’s Member info showed <banned>but i thought it was a joke….guess not!
I guess what I mean with the maps is the approach maps…I can get the default maps to show for each airbase button press, but cannot pull up any of the approach charts. and, on the large Korea sectional, clicking anywhere just doesn’t work to pull up the zoom in views. I will check my TACAN, see if it is doing the same thing. I should say that I have checked my .hpf file, and screen callouts are correct, and it appears the functions to make UHF work are in there, based upon my limited knowledge.
Best regards!</banned>

Hi Wicked,
Thank you for your response. I am adding a switch to Ice’s latest profile (Helios) that is taking the plane from cold state to ready to taxi. The first step is to turn on all the necessary switches to bring the engine to a start, and the second step is from engine start to ready to taxi. I am almost there.

That is the latest profile but for whatever reason I went back to the 16S profile and have had no issues. I would download and try it. You don’t have to get rid of the 21S profile just switch between the two. I’ve been flying DCS with my Rift the last few weeks so I’ve not had time to experiment. That and YAME is now FUBAR on my system. Go to this link and get the graphics and profile to try. http://ihpff4bms.blogspot.co.uk/2017/03/bms-helios-profile-updated-again.html

You’re welcome sir. Question. What’s the reason for abbreviating the ramp start? It only takes maybe 7 mins max to do it. Just curious.

Wicked, thanks! I was taking a bit of a break from DCS to get my feet wet in BMS. I will try the 16S version.
Lots of nice HELIOS profiles for DCS. How have you liked the Rift? I have flown once in DCS with my Windows Mixed Reality headset, and it was incredible. The Viggen looks great in VR.
However, I don’t like the loss of visual acuity, and I like my HELIOS setups. Which do you prefer, Helios or VR?

I like the Rift for the immersion better than the touch panel. Also, I use the 2.5 Open Beta and finally gave up on the exporting the gauges when I got the Rift. I spent several days trying to set up the A10C (which is boring anyway being so slow) I finally walked away. I don’t totally mind the lack of visual clarity, that being said I’m getting the GTX1080ti. Flying the Mirage in VR is epic.
