24/7 Falcon Online CO-OP server
-
not necessarly MorteSil,
that’s also because in larger MP events, you have much more deaggregation done everywhere and thus a LOT more code is ran than a server running alone.
You have also Clients doing shit and stalling some state machines (ok we need to protect against that )
as said, many CTD were finally not related to MP at all, i have listed them above…
Running 40 clients for 2 hours in the same time is equivalent to a single player running 80 hours non stop in campaign in 3D, are you sure you wont trigger a single CTD suring that time ?
So what about 40 clients for 20 hours ? , this is 800 hours of SP mainly on the flot …stilll confident about you wont have a CTD in 800 hours
Maybe it is not clear to you guys, but all AI (even your wingmen) , and Ground units, vehicles etc…are on the server’s side, so he is running a LOT of code that can CTD here
Just put your server on the FLOT somwhere with a lot of action, i can garantee you that you will have some CTD’s in 800 hours time
You guys need to realize what it means for Falcon to play online campaigns 24 / 24 with so many clients…
i dont deny some MP Messages can be busted by some client which can make the server crash as well, but it’s not what we have seen the most.
First thing is to garantee Stability at all costs in a heavy deagged environement, even in SP, which is not the case unfortunatly
Of course, Online missione creation / editing is quite touchy as well, the SOP shall be very strict on that point.
This is unique feature from BMS , but this was not designed to do this in the first place.
This is kind of a “miracle” (and a lot of work), that this is possible.
And no, i am not ambiguous about server stability, i obviously not talking about HW or Windows stability of the server, i am talking about BMS code stability running on the server.
Also, dont forget the statistics, the more clients you have , the more chances you have that one of them sends a porked MP message that endangers the Server. (we had some CTD due to bad MP messages reveiced)
Should the server be protected against it ? sure it should, but it’s not so easy to check this
Falcon 4.0 has not been designed like a massive multiplayer game, with a dedicated bulletprooof server mode
BUT , i think we can continue hoping for it to work one day , at least we continue working for it
Yes

@A.S:
All i can say to that is the following:
It is very (VERY) pitty, that you have never tried the “Redflag 4.0 Korea” campaign developed under 4.32 and for over 10-14 month with so much dedication, debugging, fixes, analytics and so on.
It is also very pitty, that you have never participated on the Force on Force events with over 50 clients running the same campaign ROCK STABLE for over many days without crashes, nor restarts. Stable, so much so, that i even remember some guys went back in the version to 4.32 flying exactly that again with the team-mates.
All i can also say is this too:
I remember (oh god… how long ago was that…2 years now???) great online community, activity and server fun.
What happened multiplayer-wise, in terms of community driven events, activities and servers after 4.32? Some can tell me? I have not seen much to nothing. DEAD FISH
You are totally right
We are a bunch of arrogant selfish incompetent morons that do not care about anyone else then our selves
If you don’t like fish I suggest you definitely resigned your account here , and I MEAN IT and try the meat only

A.S as i see from what is posted here and from a glimpse at the FO forum back then…
Mav Bad Boy and DeeJay all came in to observe and help.
Not one but 3 BMS members and sure some others unknown also but let’s stick to the three. What more do u want? the whole team and to freeze everything and focus only on this?
The outcome is a bit blur but I believe both sides took your answers and what remained was to work on those.
I’m sure as stated from the BMS there will be news. So? -
… mostly Zipgun who is one of the most active BMS member on FO contests.

so 4…

No excuses no online or stability no falcon online bms becomes less mmmmmuch less.
Either fix it or figure out the limitations and post those. The reason this is not good is because when we had a stable game now we have expectation.
We know its hard but if its causing stability problems start allowing server host to disallow clients from doing things even if they want to. -

I can prove it to you anytime and make it crash when I want
But you know better than me obviously
I still don’t understand why you are still posting here since this is a DEAD FISH
Move on

ppl want the dream not the truth.
Makes you wonder.Sounds like your FM when newb’s come in and say it’s bugged or wrong based on… their saying or feeling.
Where is the wound to touch it and believe it? -
I sure would love to see (stable) FO events return.

Mav Bad Boy and DeeJay all came in to observe and help.
Not one but 3 BMS members and sure some others unknown also […]Plenty, actually, because we actually tend to communicate between the ppl visiting the public forum and the dev forum.
I don’t want to chime in to the ongoing discussion, but try to bring the following fact back to your attention, since it seems it is forgotten ever so often:
We did not chose to limit the dev participation and MP testing for the upcoming releases to a smaller team, we did not chose to not include bigger communities in pre-testing. We are forced to do this because we need to get explicit “green light” for spreading “the product” by BillionSoft. Until we have clearance, we simply can not risk to “leak” stuff outside the dev team. Sorry. So for any theater or 3rd-part development that is supposed to be based on 4.34, everyone is in the same boat: you can only sit tight and hope that we catch most bugs during the internal MP testing (which is indeed happening!). And cut us some slack if the 4.34 base version is NOT as stable as you like it to be, because of course you gents will find bugs that we missed. Simply because the user/tester base is much bigger once we’re public.
If you are willing to accept these facts and willing to believe that we BMS devs want to listen to your issues and support you, that would be all I an ask from you. As a result, we will certainly gather the feedback that will come in after 4.34 is public and try to release bugfix updates as quickly as possible, preferring smaller, but more frequent fixes rather than you having to wait months/years for the next “big” update.
Think positive, gents.
Back to my cave…

Well expressing something like that, from the FO members, in the first place sounds at least absurd.
I’m sure that braking your fun is a pita but a small step backwards to make a leap forward is better I believe.
we have said those in the past I believe.
Expectation is hope, hope is a good thing, and if someone lost his hope I’m 100% sure that someone else will be sparkled with the same or even more hope and will keep the flame as Falcon does for decades now.we come and go but falcon is still there…
We cant demand and express our drama like it’s someone’s else fault. It’s just the way it is.
Recent example Intel CPU’s and the fount exploits and the fixes and bla bla. what was ppl saying earlier??? it’s 100% secure, we have fun and security, we are in paradise…
Intel didn’t came out to say eh guys we screwed up, others found it and all of the sudden they where looking for fixes.
all sensitive transactions in the world where done with those 100% secured CPU’s… yea right. In our case the dev’s had the decency to inform us and at the same time work on a fix and improvement. This attitude calls for respect and not nagging.

Nom nom
-
I am sorry to ask this the ip holder tells you when to release.? I mean billion soft gives you the license for a release?
-
I`m puzzled why the ip holder cares more than it still sells original falcon on the back of bms popularity. Intrigued more than puzzled. But OT

-
OK no more dead fish.
Fingers crossed and lets all work together for a better falcon. Amen.

I hate to ask this but being somewhat new to the Falcon BMS Coop scene, I’d like to ask how I connect to the COOP server shown in the first post of this thread.
I have TS installed but can’t seem to figure out how to access the server.
Is there a “multiplayer connection for dummies” somewhere I can reference?
Thanks all

Oddly enough the BMS-Manual does have a chapter on Multiplayer
Both Falcon Online servers are currently showing (on their website) as being Offline however.
