It only took 20 years…!

Today’s the Day! Finally, finally saw a campaign through to completion for the first time! (Rolling Fire in 6 campaign days). I’m >unreasonably< thrilled… I’ve been playing Falcon off-and-on (mostly on) for literally 20 years. Getting the hard-cover binder-encased game CD Christmas of '98, and it feels like it was just yesterday. Huzzah!
Thank you, thank you BMS Team, and the countless others who’ve contributed over the years. You’ve made a (big) kid’s dreams come true
Best,

The longest war in modern history?;-)

I’m not proud of it! (Ok, I’m proud of it)
-
Great job!
-
Sweet :bdance:
-
Congratulations Falcon Brother… I also have too few campaign wins in comparison to my tenure with this lovely sim.
-
Hey Quasi_ I know what you mean! I’m fortunate to have found myself with some time recently to really devote to Falcon for a change. The challenge is/was having to put her down too frequently due to life obligations… and then trying to pick back up and re-train avionics and such. Regardless, totally worth it (obviously). Do you fly online?
-
Great job! I guess I only have about 19 years and 7 months to go on mine
-
Excellent! It sure feels good to finally win one of these.
-
Hey thanks zerg! In fact, I found your ‘campaign questions’ post quite interesting.
-
Congratulations Gary, well done!
All the best,
Uwe

Best,
GI’m right there with you my friend!
I’m 53 years old and just recently completed the Rolling Fire campaign for the first time, though it took me 9 game days but in real life took me 20+ years as well!
I remember when I bought Falcon 4.0 when it came out. I think I paid $110 CDN for it upon release, at that’s with an employee discount I got from working at a cell/computer store!
Good times though! Now, onto the Balkans!

Muchas gracias. I had much the same experience as yourself with Falcon. Too many life commitments, family and work, to put time into a sim I was fascinated with, but which required a lot of focus. I also play car racing sims at a competitive level, which is difficult in its own right, but it’s a different type of commitment. I can jump in for a half an hour a day and practice running laps, which doesn’t involve too much planning or preparation. Playing Falcon is not so much about quick physical reflexes, but rather about having a huge body of internalized knowledge that can be summoned at the drop of a hat. Every time I took a step away due to other commitments, the knowledge that I gained would regress to its half-life, and I would have to re-learn many of the basics. Thankfully I was able to cut down my work schedule in the past couple of months and dedicate my time to worthy endeavours.

Worthy endeavours… Well said, sir!! Lol
-
Sorry, I know im late to the party but congrats. I literally never even played a campaign - yet even a ‘mission’ lol. I typically take off in my lone wolf TE find and destroy some big birds and ILS land. One of these days I will get a HOTAS and can have more fun with the weapons.

My LAST one was in SP4…! Haha.
Then I was recruited to the “Dark Side”, and - flew a LOT, but - never flew again for fun.
Maybe BMS will be my FIRST one in 20 years.
Dev’ing was a great hobby, but it certainly destroyed the ability to FLY Falcon the way it was MEANT to be flown.
My only dev’ing REGRET is… just that. Never got to fly for fun for 20 fecking years…
Like making a lovely cake that you can NEVER eat.pr0n

Welcome in the club! To me the last finished campaign was in FF5.3 about 9,5 years ago.
Both we should back on the horse.
:woohoo: -
Mine was AF campaign for Serbs. Luved to fly BIS…It just had so weak AG, that I used gun for OCA strikes (vs fuel tanks worked just fine)
I won most campaigns for Israel in Falcon 3.0 (ACE level)

Is it even possbile to continue a campaign started in say 4.33 in 4.34? How?

It’s not possible. There are too many changes in 4.34 per info that I saw in a thread that I will not attempt to find right now, but I remember seeing/reading.
