Adding new parents

@Cloud:
You are correct, and that is a shame, but there’s really never been a comprehensive manual at all through the history of Falcon.
The problem is, there is just way to many things that would have to be written into a complete manual, it would probably far exceed the amount of pages included in the US tax code/law, which as of this date is 73,954 pages!!! :uham:

Yep, hell must have froze over we finally agree on somethin, well it would help to get a link to a up to date lod editor that would be a start , I know for a fact a installer could be attached to a mod ,because someone here was nice enough to hook me up with the f-4 pit and that had a installer and directions to install it,…

HAHA, the LOD Editor that works best for BMS is 6.23: http://www.mediafire.com/file/5ntgx3vqrzab8ce/LEv6.23.rar/file
There are further updated LE’s, but they aren’t available and really don’t work for BMS, and the LE programmer, sadly is no longer with us!!!

Wants to add a new a/c?
Extract 3DDB.
Add Parent folder with Parent.dat file and LODs.
Rebuild 3BBD.
Create your new a/c CT in the DB. 'easier is to duplicate an existing one)
Declare the new Parent in CT.
Create/Declare the aircraft.dat to be used. Can you help detail how to “create your new a/c CT in the DB” and “Declare the new Parent in CT.” and “Create/ Declare the aircraft.dat to be used”?

Thank you for the link. Sadly I’m saving my pennies and combing through the furniture for loose change to get a new game box to run 4.34 I’ve done about all you can do with 32 to get me up to speed in this sim think I’ll fly some traps with the hornet and tomcat.

Start the BMS Editor and look around.
If you don’t know this tool, really asking how to add anything to BMS is useless.Gr Falcas

Thanks Falcas, do you know how to add parents for things like cockpits? those are not listed in BMS Editor, I tried to add the F22 cockpits but failed

You know what looks good in the F-22 is the f-16 pit blended with the f-22 wing model, you can change cockpits around just as long as you know the parent numbers found at C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Other Documentation\Database - Cockpits

Cockpit parents are in the cockpit files. In this directory “\Data\Art\CkptArt” find a lot of sub directories.
Each one is for a cockpit. The name of the directory can be the Parent number of the AC model, the name of the AC as in the database or the same as the NCTR of the AC in the database.Inside you find a file “3dckpit.dat”, open this with notepad. Look for cockpitmodel 1234; This is the parent number for the cockpit used.

Hey guys,
didn’t follow this thread completely, but what is needed exactly?
I mean forget about LE, it does mess the DB terribly, if you need something LE can report, but BMS Editor not yet, I’ll have a look…Cheers

Hi Biker,
thanks for the offer. I’m simply looking for the EF2000 wingmodels for both versions. 3DDB appears not to readily provide it and LE still doesn’t work for me. Old numbers aren’t working due to the DB revision and the editor doesn’t provide this information and the cockpit parent file no longer contains its numbers as it did until 4.33.
Thanks.

Scorpioncockpit parents you’ll find in the corresponding cockpit DAT.
How can LE help you here?Cheers
Biker -
Hi Biker,
that requires a cockpit folder to be available in the first place. IIRC you could dig up the appropriate model number, also for the cockpit wings model using LE. Unfortunately LE doesn’t work for me.

BikerMaybe some option to see the model in OGLLOD by choosing Parent would be useful.

Maybe some option to see the model in OGLLOD by choosing Parent would be useful.
We have a list of cockpit parents available in BMS Editor, so providing a list to look at them with OGLLOD should be possible.
Will have a look… -
