[Released] EMF v1.0.2 (BMS 4.34)
-
I had to update the first post, with a warning that a new, clean 4.34 logbook must be created with 128seg theaters like EMF.
Why is that? That’s a deal breaker for me as I am still using the same log book since 1998? Then again I am using my old log book and it seems to be working fine?
-
If you don’t have any issues with your imported logbook then ok. Personally, I create a new logbook after a major BMS release. Either way, my advice remains that in order to be on the safe side, a new logbook should be created for big theaters. This is also the feedback I get from people who had several issues like Cougar. The moment they created a fresh logbook, everything went ok.
Also it is my understanding that the issue with the logbook stems from the callsign.ini, where the MAP POP X,Y values are porked. Something like that.

Good morning, gents,
Please forgive my ignorance, but what is a “128seg” theater? Is 128seg a software specific term? On Google I found it to mean the Society of Exploration Geophysicist ….I suspect that isn’t correct in this case!
All my best,
RobYes, it is very specific therm in F4 world.
Normal/default theater (Korea) is 64segments in size since 1998 (1994).
Basic tile (4 sided polygon, 2 triangles) is 1km size. 16x16 tiles are composed into “segments” (these are loaded by current engine imo).
So default theater is 64 seg ( 16 1km tile) = 1024 km x 1024 km area.
128 segment theaters are four times bigger (2048 x 2048 km). -

Sorry to step in in the middle of the conversation, gents, but…
Is this a problem related specifically to 4.34? Because from 4.32 to 4.33, we didn’t have any similar issue, to my knowledge.Cheers

If i am not mistaken, joe labrada (poh) first mentioned it. It was an issue with some people

Low priority. Its just a popular tourist destination.
That’s why I was asking…
We’ll spend two weeks there in September and it would be great to take a look at the area (and recover there) beforehand in BMS. No biggie though, thanks for your reply.
All the best,
Uwe

Moving just your [callsign].lbk file is fine and letting BMS rebuild the other parts of logbook settings. What was causing my CTD was my [callsign].ini file.

I’d never have figured that out without your help. I’m pretty computer UN-savy. Sorry to Hi-jack, but I found this interesting and thought I’d follow in case I’d ever run into problems.
Thanks much!
All my best,

Does anyone of you have crash issues while trying to connect to MP?
Emf theater for 434
Thank you -
I have this installed as described here. When I go to mission editor and create a simple flight, once I create the flight and save it, I then return back to the screen so I can open up my saved file. But when I click on it the whole program closes out and I have to start from my desk top to start it over. Then I open it up and it lets me start the flight. Anything I need to know, or did I do something wrong? I installed it just like your instructions here.

If you pressed the clear all button (nuke button) when you created the mission, you shouldn’t have problems. If you did it as per the TE Creation.pdf, and then the mission works fine after you restarted the theater then it is an issue that it will be addressed in the future. Same applies to saved campaign files. You must exit the sim and then restart it in order for the saved campaign to load properly. I’ll try to fix it.

Hi Mystic and all the people involved in EMF creation, you really did an incredible work!
I’m trying to improve the campaign in Lybia, with the help of Mission commander tool and the guide for campaign creation, to mimic the real facts of operations Odissey dawn & Unified protector as much as I can. Anyways I have found two issues that I can not solve:
- The campaign engine (ATO) does not generate TANKER & AWACS missions for NATO (There are a few tanker & AWACS squadrons in theater)
- The ATO do generate Lybian air force strike missions against targets in Creta, Greece, and Italy
Both issues are totally unrealistic, any help to fix them will be much appreciated!
Best regards,
-
If you paid attention in the campaign description, you would notice that NATO HVAA are human controlled. This was a request from beta testers. The other issue you described didnt occured to me, during my tests

Thanks in advanceI didnt tested emf with tacview yet

Mystic,
Sorry as per my last post. Yes I checked with TE and campaign, and I was wrong. Both don’t work. ATC will not clear you for takeoff unless you ask a second time. At least on my end.

Ok, i’ll look at it
