TGP image 'rotating'
-
Hello BMS guys.
Thank you for all the outstanding works you’ve been doing so far. I am only an occasional player due to lack of time but each time I play is a real pleasure. Thanks also for all the technical docs. I printed them and read a little of them nearly every day.
Two questions I raise after my firts attempts to use BMS 4.34 :
-
when in the training mission for AGM45 in CAVOK conditions I saw that the TGP image set on my left MFD seems to ‘rotate’ regarding to the MFD frame. It seems linked to the TGP LOS relative to the aircraft axis (or to bank angle ?).
-
what is the symbol on the right MFD, OSB 12 ? It blanks out the MFD and all OSB seem inactive. I can revert to normal use by pressing DMS right.
I checked back on 4.33 and wasn’t able to reproduce those facts. So far, I didn’t find any description in the docs for both of them. Didn’t find anything of the forum either.
Sorry If I miss something.Bugs ? Normal behaviour ?
Enjoy your flights.
Yann

Hi Curious
I am having the same problem with the TGP pod.
Anybody got a fix yet.
Been searching the forum too, this is the first post i have come across about the TGP image.
When/if i find a solution i will post it.Happy Hunting,

Salut!
1. Realistic.
2. No clue what it is. Never saw it. Looks like a bug but haven’t explored everything new about MFD yet. -
Not a bug. This is normal behavior
-
None of what you have described is a bug. As the others have statwd the TGP picture rotarion is normal.
And for your blank MFD this normal considering that on OSB 12 you have no MFD page assigned to it.
-
Thank you. I understand that 4.33 was not as realistic as 4.34 on the first point.
-
Don’t forget to try using the Search box just in case the question has been asked already, which is quite possible at the moment as there are so many ‘new’ things in 4.34
For example: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?35631-TGP-and-FCR-appear-rotated&highlight=TGP+image+rotated

To be perfectly exact, IRL, the image rotation does not appear on all pods but only on modern ones. Older pods like LANTIRN have a “derotation” gimbal in the pod to compensate pod head rotation, but that adds up another level of complexity in the pod (and probably limits pod head roll as well). Modern pods compensate pod head rotation electronically, hence the corners. They appear only when numerical zoom is low.

A bit like mechanical video stabilisation, at a military grade

Gimbal lock I guess.

The real Sniper pod also has no fluid zoom, rather than that it zooms in steps:
