beefed…
beefed?
what do u mean beefed…???you couldn’t have more…
beefed he said…
So what? I said that because my PC doesn’t like fish at all… as just as my cats, you see
@A.S:
Note: first post is OLD… maybe still a good guide, but few things may have changed, i.e how to do Anti-Aliasing…
Agree. To say the least, I guess…
Hey A.S. thx for tip, things look and run great. How about FSAA though?
Smart question, this one.
I could even share gladly my own presets, but: I don’t think they might be the most satisfying one can find out about, and they are made for my 2080 Ti, most of all. Please let me test them a little more, then, if they are suitable for all, we will see…With best regards to all.

I have not tried FSAA, DSR or Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) on BMS yet. I am just running 8X AA and 16x AS enforced over gfx-card - disabled in game.
In fact, i have not flown anything for the last 5 month and as i type this, i am just about to setup and try 4.34 the first time ever(Aorus RTX 2080 XTREME WATERFORCE) …
-
I did it instead, A.S…. and I’m doing still with some other settings, to be honest.
Even if there are promising premises, it’s only premature to see if I really had something good or not in return.
There is too much to keep in mind, first of all that my 2080 Ti has its own behavior with a sim of an age like Falcon is, you know.As said, and promised, before… I will see, and if I find something interesting and useful for the whole Community, I’ll share it gladly.
With best regards.

Gentlemen,
here is my own first personal update.
Always premised that I’m using a nVidia GFX 2080Ti for these tests, I regret to inform you that FSAA doesn’t work in Falcon, as I guessed… but please let me be clear about: this is not a BMS fault, absolutely.
It’s instead how FSAA works: AFAIK, and I may be wrong of course, it does only if its functions have been implemented correctly by the graphics devs. in their game.
And this is not the case, but - let me be even more clear on this point - it’s not ‘our’ devs’ fault.
It’s only because BMS is made this way, at this moment. And, you may like it or not, that’s all, so it must be accepted ‘as it is’…More news further.

Wait a minute, mate: ‘who’ are you talking about, here? My nVidia doesn’t think bad at all…
With best regards to all.

with latest BMS version …
- disable anisotropic filtering and multisampling in the BMS UI
-
make a profile for BMS in nVidia control panel
-
and enforce anisotropic filtering (8x or 16x)
-
and enforce antialiasing (4x or 8x)
-
if you still have “too low FPS” for your liking, try the following in the BMS Configuration (balance between performance and quality is target in following picture)
Oh! worth mentioning !!!
- MFAA = OFF
- FXAA = OFF
- max. per-rendered frames = 1
- Texture filtering Quality = HIGH
- LOD Bias = CLAMP
- Trilinear Optimization = OFF
- anisotropic scanning optimization = OFF
-
Well done and detailed as well, thanks.
At this point I would test what happens after reducing tree and grass density at medium level both, though. [emoji6]With best regards.

Would you suggest turning off focus shadows as well for additional FPS?
-
If this yours above is addressed to me, well… a try won’t hurt anyone, you know.
With best regards.

Yes, I found this to be effective in my pc configuration. Under shadow mapping, I only have cockpit shadows on. Any setting in the configurator that reduces cpu load (such as reduced particles) seems to help much greater than any graphics setting (in nvidia panel).
What I’d like to know is which of the following in falcon bms advanced options is hitting the cpu- shouldnt the gpu be handling all these cases now and these should actually be turned off?:
1. mipmapping
2. linear mipmap filtering
3. texel bias fix
4. textured tv/ir <–maybe don’t turn this off -
Strange results here, created a profile for my 2080 in NVidia Control Panel for the BMS.exe file, used all the settings from page 7, and I get some shimmer and (external view 0) see pronounced “jaggies” on wings and tail. I go back into Falcon Graphics, re-tick Anistropic Filtering and Multisampling, back to smooth wings/tail…

If you are using Win 10, have you disabled Fullscreen optimizations in Falcon BMS 4.34 > Bin > x64 > Falcon BMS Properties > Compatability? I had the same problems as you with my RTX 2080 until I did this. I think its something to do with Win 10 game mode. Once ticked all went back to normal with no jaggies.

Yes Win10 (my sig) and yes (I assume you meant to say Falcon BMS.exe - Properties/Compatibility tab). I’ll play around a bit more to try and see why the NVidia custom settings don’t seem to take hold (Anistrop and/or AA anyway)… My Framerates are pretty high either way…

Have you tried disabling Win 10 Game mode? Worth a shot if disabling Fullscreen optimizations didn’t work.
Have you tried Unleashed Codes Nvidia settings/Graphics setup for BMS? Found here on You Tube
They worked a treat for my rig with great fps on full settings. -
Yes, that was done a bit ago to try and reduce DCS stutters. In reality I have no issues at all with BMS, it’s smooth as silk and i’m pushing over 100 for a frame rate, I’m just looking to extract the best picture available. It’s funny, BMS is 100x the sim DCS is with it’s dynamic campaigns and they are (on the DCS Forums) constantly making excuses for poor performance saying it’s “ahead of the current hardware”… They must develop on the new IBM Summit supercomputer. If you set up a TE with a few moving columns, forget it. The campaigns have no save mode, just linked TE’s, but hey, it IS gorgeous! Campaign like BMS would take TWO Summits…
Edit, I went ahead and max’d out my Global Settings in Nvidia Control Panel and un-ticked the two settings in game and now it looks great and is in mid 80s’ FPS…
-
Great news! One question though, when you say that you are maxed out on Global settings in the Nvidia CP, does this mean that you have not set up or use the Program Settings pointing to your Falcon BMS 4.34>Bin>x64>falcon bms.exe? If so this might explain why disabling Fullscreen Optimizations has no effect. Just a thought.

I removed the Program Settings pointing to my Falcon BMS 4.34>Bin>x64>falcon bms.exe (as it had no effect) and went under the Global Setting Tab and enabled pretty much what has been laid out, Anistrp Filter to 16x, Antialias Setting to 8x, Antialias Transparent to 8x, MFAA On, etc. and the graphics are great, FullScreen Optimization has been disabled for months, no change.

Roger that Icer, Good job. Interesting in regards to transparency and MFAA, might have to experiment with them myself at some point.
Best of luck and good hunting.

Thx Dram, I put everything on to see if it would adversely effect Framerate (including FXAA not mentioned above) with the intention of turning things off one at a time but with FR in the mid to upper 80’s its not necessary with this system. Just to see how it affected DCS I popped into a P51-D Instant Action (Ground Attack) mission just for ha-ha’s and it was smooth as can be with 80’s FR also, not quite sure what to make of that but i’ll look at it more closely today.
I’ve included my current settings, not sure why my sig has stopped appearing under posts but i’m also pushing 144Hz into this GSync monitor at 2560x1440 (native res).
