Q: fm.dat edit - aircraft keep flashing "FUEL" " TRIP FUEL" on HUD
-
As title said, i edited some ac.dat along with their data in DB.
after that i found my edited ac cannot stay long in the sky… on the ground, HUD may flash FUEL warning off and on. after airborne, it just took few minutes and FUEL warn started flashing, soon the ac lost all power and fall - but the fuel meter still got over 16000 lb fuel.
any help is appreciated!

You need to write exactly what you changed and on what files/part of the db…
-
fm.dat - just change basic data like empty weight, fuel, wing area. the rest are model cosmetic edits.
database with FE edit - basic ac data, fuel, fuel consumption rate, in vehicle/flight/squadron sections.
the fuel/consumption rate look ok - should not cause FUEL warning in short time. -

the odd thing is, the tweaked ac still has tons of fuel, but it cannot use the fuel and cause engine/electric off in short time. In real life it could be fuel pump failure…but i doubt BMS simulate it.

But it doesn’t show all the fuel , there should be 20718 , but on dial is only ~17700 on Norm.
Engine(s) is(are) prone to stall even on low negative G , especially at higher speed/alt , with positive G there is no any problem , you can sustain as much you want.
Also , FTIT goes critical and destroys engine , only thing how could prevent it was to shut-off fuel valve. Could be that some structural damage happens… on negG.
MaV should look at it, that ac needs a doctor

You have to know exactly what value(s) and where to change them (fm/afm and/or within DB), in order to work ok within sim. Again there are values hardcoded on the .exe so apart from known or already documented intel up to now or a dev feedback of what-needs-to-change-where, some tests turn to a trial-and-error process for the average user.
For example, AFAIR for a “simple” change on the available fuel of an aircraft, one would have to update values on:
- The aircraft dedicated FM
- The aircraft dedicated AFM
- The DB / aircraft record
- The DB / aircraft squadron record
- The DB / aircraft flight record
So a fuel imbalance later in flight is I guess a normal situation if fuel is not declared correctly all over the places.

…Also, I have found that editing HP types can cause external tanks to not have their fuel totalled on the dial and not sure if effectively not loaded on a/c. For example, used F-4 Outer Wing HP on MiG-19 to get it to use a certain type of rack, but then when loading 760li ext tanks, their fuel is not included on the loadout (this prior to 4.33, not sure if still an issue) even though is a “wet” HP does not seem to recognize opfor tanks.

This has been fixed in U1
Nothing you can do From data

BTW, is the warning “Trip Fuel” or “TRP Fuel”? The latter used to stand for Trapped Fuel and you had to fiddle with the inflight refuel controls to correct it (mind, this was waaay back, not sure if still an issue).
