Online BMS Training?
-
Sorry not sure I was that clear. I’ve always enjoyed Training/teaching as much or more then making stuff go boom. Reason I got the idea is there are so many folks asking questions and while yes RTFM is there too, I like flying with others in a fun MP environment. I’ve been flying BMS since 2013 and I’ve never been to the Falcon Lounge, I’ve spent most of my years with virtual fighter wings (3). I‘m sure the Lounge is great and a great place to learn. Sometimes other options to learn and fly might be nice, too.
@Red Dog…first & foremost thank you for everything BMS. I get your point, but this is a different model. I don’t care if someone doesn’t commit to a training because there is no training syllabus per se, unless someone wants that. If someone just wants to practice one thing and move on, great! Totally up to that Individual. You want to do some KOTAR RANGE OPS and hit the tanker then split, outstanding! More time for me to help out Others. Maybe you just want to walk through some AA tactics on the Whiteboard once and that’s it…GREAT. Ya Get to meet new people and make new friends. :drink:
Good Day, Everyone, and Merry Christmas.
Stalker, I agree with everything you say, and it’s got me to thinking. First, let me give the disclaimer that I have never hosted a MP and only visited a few times. So, critique is welcome on my idea. Anyway, I RTFM’d the BMS Manual and starting on p.81 it discusses MP.
Let’s say we wanted to get together for a Twoship, and I’ll use myself as an example. I just did a speedtest and got values of 30 ms PING,21.28 Mbps download, and 4.18 Mbps Upload. Per the Manual, that sounds more the enough for 2 people. So let’s say I make the IP address, etc., and set myself up to host.
Now, here’s the new part of my idea-what if there is a dedicated thread (maybe in Base Ops or Community or wherever) where anyone interested in flying with someone can go . So, in our “Flight Buddies” section I could enter a “Profile” . It could contain the pertinent info. “Hi, I’m Joe. I fly BMS Hornet-C and Viper, Korea or Balkans. Medium skill level, but looking to improve formation flying. Looking for FB , preferably for SEAD/DEAD. I live in UDT+8. Somewhat time flexible, best is Friday 2100 Pacific. I can Host” Someone who could and wanted to train someone could include that fact in their “profile”…
From there, we can start talking and PM’ing and off we go.
We’ve talked here about time being the enemy. But, with this kind of information exchange I don’t see how anyone interested couldn’t find someone with the same parameters. And just think how cool it would be to have even one FB for regular flights.
Like Stalker said-make new friends -
I‘m toying with the idea of creating an online Training site where folks from every experience level can learn what they want and when they want. From takeoff & landing to advanced (Tac Form, mission planning RL AAR SOP, navigation, tactics etc.)
Not a wing, no membership, no Air Force or rules/regs….simply casual MP learning by a very patient and understanding IP(s). A fun place to learn without some of the pressures from a typical Wing. No combat flights.
Anyone think there would be any interest or added value?
***UOAF (United Operations Air Force) is also a great place to learn with excellent people & instructors.
I think it sounds like a good idea and I think you’d get a lot of interest.
Just because something similar exists (Falcon Lounge, or whatever) doesn’t mean what you’re suggesting would be redundant. Personally, I think what you’re suggesting would be additive.

I agree with this completely.
As part of the Falcon Lounge discord group, I try to promote it as a great place for people to get together and discuss learning the sim. There’s a wide variety of experience to draw from, and people from several time zones, so there’s almost always someone to respond to questions.
That said, it does not take the place of an actual hands on IP experience. I do try to put things like that together when I have time, but as anyone with a family can attest to, time is often in short supply.
If anyone would like a home to organize trainings, I’m sure MaxWaldorf would not mind me offering up the FL discord for this use. I’m sure Max could throw a couple extra channels together if needed to help facilitate.

We’re a small group of 4-5 BMS virtual Viper drivers down here in NZ and if anyone in AU/NZ wants to fly with us on our private server, we’ll happily do so regardless of skill level or experience. We don’t really do PVP, we exclusively fly campaigns together (with difficulty level cranked up) and just enjoy pulling off a decent combat mission. Most flying is around 08:30 PM NZDT depending on real life commitments.
We’re definitely not Weapons School graduates ourselves (to put it mildly) but we don’t get our knickers in a twist if someone does something wrong or isn’t using the right jargon or anything and we’re more than happy to explain things to you while doing it.

BMS is easy. What’s to train?

Default vTLP 18-2 course is open.
From the vtlp staff, we are happy to announce that the new 18-2 course is open for registration. If you want to participate as a student (Blue team) or aggressor (Red team), you can write here or contact me. I´ll send you a little document with all avaliable info ATM.What is vTLP?
Virtual Tactical Leadership Program is, same as a real one, a program for advanced training for pilots with the aim of improving the operation and effectivenes of BMS virtual squadrons. It is not about any type of competition. vTLP base the training courses on collaboration, friendship and team effort. There are no winners or loosers, only a great experiences to future flights and collaborations in addition to the satisaction of a well done job. Our Staff if formed by virtual pilots with many experience years as well as a real pilots who have participated in real TLP. They offer us support on the operations we are carried out during the program to be very close and similar than real one.
Squadron requirements:
To take part in the course as a blue team, the invited squadron must provide the red team with at least two pilots. This means that if we have a blue slot, the squadron will need a minimum of 4 pilots (Student + wingman in the blue team and 2 red pilots). In case of having enough pilots, they can fly in the red team according to the necessary disposition in each mission. The final decision will bemade by the red coordinator in this case. If the minimum number of pilots required is not available to participate as student, the squadron may fly as red team according to the necessary disposition in each mission. The final decision will be made in this case by the red_
Exactly what this is NOT….
And exactly what I’m not looking for

Not sure i understand your answer to drakko but i have to intervene.
I participate regularly in VTLP´s since 2008 back in AF.
There is no better graduate course to learn. All levels of experience are present. and we all learn a lot in just a couple of weeks. What you are looking for is exactly this type of online activity.
PS - My friend Drakko , since we postponed the last VTLP due to 4.34 release and since very very soon POH will be release with U1 standards when you planned to run the course again?
Also we need to do some flights together my friend ,i’m losing my few skills quickly doing modeling for bms for the past year -

Woah easy tiger don’t be so aggressive. People are only showing different options.
Monopoly?? Do you realise no one is pushing you to do what you don’t want right? Said like that it seems that we need you to make some profit of you which is at least offensive.
Who said that you can´t host such a place. We live in community for people like you with initiative to open places for the old guys meet the new guys and learn with each other…
If you host such place cont me in i’m always open to new experiences with other people around here
I don’t get you honestly. -
…. What you are looking for is exactly this type of online activity. …
Kind of presumptuous of you to tell someone what they want even after they’ve said they don’t isn’t it?
What confuses me more is why after Stalker presents an idea for sharing knowledge with other BMS players and asks for feedback about that idea others seem to feel the need to jump in and promote their own particular wing or website or program instead of providing feedback on the idea itself.

Go call presumptuous to santa.
Here’s a thought, host such place and end of story.
Why ask in the first place? We have hundreds of groups around the world you don’t need anyone’s approval. -

Woah, hold on there tiger. Why so aggressive?
Because since the beginning of this thread many guys come forward with ideas and solutions and his kicking our butts every single time.
You can create or host any kind of MP setup i believe many will be interested and then check in the thread above for players around you GMT to cooperate.
I´m out…

Just do it….

Interesting thread - I hope no new guys come along who haven’t read every website and thread in The Universe about F16’s and BMS and ask any stupid questions…

Its more than that.
They can ask any kind of questions (stupid or not)
What they should’t do is spit or orhers faces. When we offer help or sugestions we meant to help.
