Flight model comparation - BMS F16 Falcon DCS F16 Viper

And on my side I have no more things to say. My two last posts on ED forum has been suppressed because it was unpleasant to read that I consider the pefo bug a showstopper rather than just high priority. So … I’ll stop to report anything else from there. For now I will just “count the points”. My last PM with Wags was to offer them the right sound sample for the missile launch tone because they have accidentally added one sound from BMS install and it wasn’t the correct tone since it was a M2000 tone.
-
i just said in terms of communication they are not much better than ED.
I must disagree with you here. A couple of us are hanging around on the FL Discord channel, and if asked something, we sure try to answer, same goes usually here on the forums.
Regarding priorities - Knowing (more or less) what each active BMS Dev does, I can say that priorities and subjective selection of each Dev on what to work, actually turn into a pretty well set of features. 1 problem is maybe that not everything we work on you can see, so possibly people on the outside may think that we have a priorities issue. I don’t think we have.
-
… even in case of priority issues … We are not working in full regular professional daily work basis managed by a project manager with a defined objectives and road map … etc … We are working on what is possible when it is possible.

I think it depends and I’ll even say it’s very subjective to the topic in discussion. Some topics, Maybe I can even call them milestones of BMS Development, have a VERY clear Roadmap, I’d even dare to say sometimes better than how professional companies work. Such milestones open more possibilities in a way that many other Devs can work towards new features. OTOH, usually “gameplay” stuff, and also avionics, can be developed “on the fly”. If a coder decide tomorrow to start working on a new system, it’s like he is opening a new door that was closed until now and starts to fill the internal room with features and changes, usually such changes have their own “tiny roadmap”, and it’s being developed with some sense and order.
However, most stuff is born by personal initiatives rather than long discussions on “where are we going and what we should aim for now”. I think it was always like that in Falcon development world and particularly in BMS. But I don’t know if it’s better or worse, sometimes having a manager that tell you what you need to do may be less productive than letting each Dev find his own interest and just flow with it. From what I see, awesome things are being born this way but the magnificent people of my team

Yep but I take my “BMS Hollidays” when I want without asking any boss and for the duration I choose But I don’t because I like you so much.

Why compare how ED and BMS respond or have publicity? One is a commercial company, its workers are earning money and the decisions are made based on this because thats how a company works, even in game dev. Another one is a loose community of people (not even like minded i imagine) who contribute and develop a project for free. Even by perverse logic of “im a customer, you owe me your attention” BMS is not part of this. It’s pretty cool that some of the devs take time to respond and share or look at crashlogs, hang out at forums and answer questions - in their way of course, but its really a side perk.
And lets please not forget what role a roadmap plays - a very effective marketing tool. I know that, cause i make them It’s incredible how well roadmaps work to convince customers and its not just in game development. “It’s on the roadmap, so it’s there.” Haha. Of course. Same goes for alpha, beta, early access and so on.

Isn’t it a rule here that you are not supposed to ask what future updates will bring? I thought it was the case here that BMS devs generally don’t talk about what the future holds for BMS with regard to updates.
And just 2 days ago I asked a question out of curiosity why the ATC was changed with regard to being handed over to departure in U1. So far that question has not been answered… -
Yes, as a general rule the BMS team policy is to not talk about future work. Not because we don’t want to, but there are other reasons for that.
However, Some WIP work is still being showed, especially WRT art development and 3D models. And if you read carefully between the lines of some threads, me and other BMS Devs sometimes spread rumors which may suggest what may be coming.Regarding your ATC question - Not all Devs know all the answers (me for instance can’t help much with ATC issues) and sometimes specific Devs are needed to answer specific questions or investigate a bug report. Sometimes the specific Dev that is the one to look at such issue is simply not around, maybe busy with his RL, maybe on vacation, who knows.
We try to do our best to answer everyone, for sure it’s not always perfect, but we try. If we didn’t care then I wouldn’t be writing this post at all.

If yes I
m sure it is to avoid shitstorms when we don
t get what is said we get.(you know "I didnt get what they told I
ll get!Thats outrageous! I pay for the internets! ).For the same reason we don`t get ETAs (Even Eagle Dynamics dont give ETA, and when they do they are late by years ex. “two weeks”). -
Can someone tell me what supersonic aerodynamic phenomenon is happening to DCS plane in the 01:00 minute mark?

Not specifically. The only thing I can say is that they don’t have Mav-jp.

Numerical instability in their FM
-
Do not listen to anyone who is trying to compare the Falcon with anything else - there simply is no other.
And thank you very much for the fact that the project lives and develops thanks to you. -

That’s from using the drum from a Whirlpool dryer as your cockpit shell. Professional cockpits (like BMS) are made from Maytag parts.

No no no. [emoji23] Whirlpool > Maytag. Efficiency, function, cost.
