I’ve seen the video now for the fifth time, gorgeous !!!
I’m curious in what deep valley you put the airfields. Guess " take off´s and landings " with crosswind will be certainly a challenge…
Regards from the bavarian highland, ohhh btw didn´t spot the " K2 " …… but will, after I get the joy of flying it.
regards FT

Some wanted to contribute and gave promises but failed to deliver so I decided to do everything mainly myself as work is actually progressing faster and to my liking much better.
Or some delivered but then the goalposts got moved…?
In your video, do you have motion blur enabled? Could you shoot another without it if so? Thanks. Looks very good. Artistic talent goes a long way when creating new theaters!
-
Great artistic and modding effort. Are there any other areas than mountains? I bet there is not too much of sea and no masking of those shoreline tiles
-
A quick video, I didn’t spend so much time editing as I’d rather do some tiling instead.
No combat, no threats, just relaxing terrain scenery ferry flights with some low flying action.
Little competition - Anyone know when the K2 appears in the video?Wow man great… Specially the base was wonderful audio…
May I say I spotted a bug there? Not theater but maybe BMS bug?
Clouds pass through mountains? Can u confirm that ZELEGEND?
Also in future video the longer heat blur effect would be nice…
-
This video reminds me of Lock On-which I (in a way) miss. The factor of diving through valleys etc, everyone who ever flew the basic LOMAC training missions knows what I mean.
Incredible output we see these days at BMS. Even though I gradually got sucked into modded IL-2, this demands respect.
Cheers

…
Locations of airfields will be exactly those found in RL (main abases anyway, I have to define the airstrips myself) and there are several hidden away in valleys.
…
Hahha, yeah I guess I’ll torture myself with Changing Software Requirements from now on… I really should know better. Many thanks though, much appreciated.
Yep, Blur was set on default, I will certainly turn it off for the next video. Take care my friend
…
Yes, there are flat lands (quite a bit) as well as hilly areas. You can match up the maps I posted (I think in post 5) with google maps. Since this one will be a 64 size (although i also have 128) there will be no sea. However, there will be some very large and wide rivers that will use the sea tile so the shoreline tiles have been put in. Setting tile types and defining area is not so bad.
I’ll post some pics/video once I’ve retextured the tiles.
…
Hmm… not sure I’ll have to do more testing but they certainly do overlap with them. I did notice there seems to be an issue of a hard edge when merging into a mountain.

Ciao,
Zelegend’s video is impressive indeed. Looking at it made me think.
Wouldn’t all those valleys create false radar echoes and make it harder to gain a solid lock? In real life, I mean. I imagine that there must be special filters to clean up the return signals when flying in such an environment. But I wonder how effective they are.Anyone?
Ciao ciao : )

I guess with all the ground clutter it should be hell of a lot more effective to beam in RL but I’m not sure in sim as I’ve not really looked into it too deeply yet. I have noticed that I have indeed been dropping lock a hell of a lot more though. Not sure what the root cause is yet.
You can mask your own radar emission by dipping into a valley. You will lose other radar sig on your RWR so it turns to a highly tactical game that relies on best use of the terrain.

Wow. This looks awesome. Will the UI map show the elevation contours accurately enough to plan low level strike missions so your flight plan will follow the valleys?
-
Not sure how the RL air-to-air radar works but my guess is the mountains would not provide a return because the radar uses MTI.
Masking would certainly work
-
Here is a pic of my TNC map. The source is extremely high resolution but once it is resized and shaped down to be a small portion of 2048x2048 then you lose a lot of details. But the colours are extremely important for elevation data.
See this:
I was able to plan a mission through valleys like this
STPT was set to ‘auto’ and when I flew the mission every single waypoint was bang in the middle of the valleys. I needed no manual increment of STPT and could visually see the marker in my hud in the middle always.
So, I think the colours of the map are vital for mission planning and work really well.
Some tweaks need to be done to the map like adding feature roads etc.

great looking map!
so the colour of each pixel indicates the average altitude of the real:D (the virtual reality) 3D terrain data - fantastic!
you are indeed kicking off a legend. your name indicates that you knew that.
NEW for falcon: high elevation on average! and even higher mountain chains to fool around with!
i will definitely go MP for this one if possible with standard ADSL (100 KB upload:()good stuff about ridge crossing and low level flying in general in chapter 7:
F-16 COMBAT AIRCRAFT FUNDAMENTALS - Multi-Command Handbook 11-F16 Vol5
(in BMS docs folder)video was nice too.
thanks alot for taking the time to keep us updated!don’t get into any hasty work now! take some time to make it fat! maybe the roadnet would be easier to do with veteran help? doesn’t demer
has a little kashmir supporter signature? well - i can wait anyhow i guess! no hasty decisions! -
This post is deleted! -

It is as you said my friend “livrot”.
Well i must be the only one that knows the secret of that guy named “ZELEGEND”.
His personal code is: just add the “ze” to the word “legend” and you have the “ZELEGEND”. Very very smart that
So my friend “ZE” i hope your work is going better and more better :p.

Your friend Nikos.LOL, you got me blushing now.
Thank you for your support my friend.
Long live Falcon.

Copy that.
Anytime all the time i can give you a hand of help mate (of course at things that i know) ;).

TBH, I still found it a little but tricky relying on pixel colours to determine valleys.
So instead the valleys are now marked with green lines. The trick? just so happens that the road network runs through those very valleys (most of them anyway).

Zelegend,
Would it be possible to have Indian & Pakistani names for the pilots?
